Lets get right to it, keep in mind that I although I've played for a while, this is my first time playing competitively, although I've done quite a bit of research if i do say so myself.
Plus firend codes pl0x? :D
LEAD
Machamp @ Lum Berry
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- DynamicPunch
- Ice Punch
- Payback
- Bullet Punch
Machamp is a BEAST of an anti-lead (IMO?). Dynamicpunch will wreck holes through many common leads (Metagross, Swampert, Heatran) + annoy with the confusion hax. The payback/bullet punch combo is there to deal with those pesky psychic types (A very common psychic lead being Azelf). The EV spread allows me to have max attack while being able to take a psychic from any kind of lead Azelf. His ability, "No Guard", makes all moves used by or against a Pokémon with the ability incapable of missing. *hint hint Dynamicpunch* Ice punch prevents Gliscors from walling me.
PHYSICAL WALL
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Attack
Relaxed Nature (+Spe, -SpAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
Ferrothorn is my physical wall, although many people nowadays are trying to use it as a special wall. Max HP and Def stats ensure that it can take any kind of physical attack and he's meant to be used in tandem with Jellicent (who walls a lot of Ferrothorn's weaknesses + is my special wall). Still debating weather or not I should balance out his defensive stats to make sure he can take a couple special attacks. (suggestions please? :)
SPECIAL WALL
Jellicent @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpDef / 4 Def
Calm Nature (+SpDef, -Atk)
- Scald / WoW
- Recover
- Ice Beam / Energy ball
- Toxic
Jellicent's combination of great base HP and SpDef stats allows it to be an effective special wall. Its switched in when the opponent wants to try and use a fire/fighting attack on my Ferrothorn or when the opponent sends out a out a special sweeper. The great typing helps as well and the Ferrothorn/Jellicent combo should work excellently, although I haven't tried this myself :D. (Plus i'm a n00b lol) The Scald/WoW (help me choose?) discourages physical attackers from switching into this guy, which is good considering Jellicent's defense stat is lackluster.
PHYSICAL SWEEPER
Haxorus @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -Spatk)
- Dual Chop
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Brick Break
With 140 base attack, wynaut? (See what I did there? ...nevermind.) his undesirable speed stat is compensated for by making him Jolly nature and by maxing out his speed EVs. He's also scarfed, which makes him faster than any pokemon that isn't scarfed and isn't boosted. Mold Breaker allows him to destroy pokemon that would normally have walled him (ex: Brozong). Haxorus does seem somewhat outclassed by others sweepers so I'm open to suggestions. Dual Chop is chosen over Dragon claw because it'll break SUBs. Haxorus was never meant to stay in for long periods of time also. He's more of a "deal massive damage in a short amount of time and run" kind of pokemon.
SPECIAL SWEEPER/REVENGE KILLER
Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 SpAtk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Energy Ball
This is my very OP'd revenge killer thanks to shadow tag and if forced, it'll be a special sweeper. A massive base 145 SpAtk stat and the Shadow tag ability are its main highlights. Max speed EVs + Timid nature + Choice Scarf somewhat makes up for the mediocre speed. Hidden Power Ice is there to deal with pesky ground types.
SUPPORT
Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spe / 4 SpAtk
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Surf
- Recover
- Thunderbolt
This is my rapid spin suport 'mon. It spins away entry hazards and has two STAB attacks to steadily wear down the opponent if necessary. Max HP stats make sure it won't die upon entry. Surf is chosen over Hydro Pump just for longevity. I had a DIFFICULT time choosing a decxent rapid spinner. Would Doryuuzu be a better option? should I Switch out Nattorei for Forretress and switch Starmie for another pokemon? YOU DECIDE!
Thank you to all who read this and/or help me become an overall better player. Keep in mind this team is far from perfect and that is why I am posting this thread, to recieve some help. One very large concern I have is, does this team have good synergy? I tried out the Marriland Team Builder, but it didn't really seem to help at all. (Could just be me.)
