Hi everyone! This is my first RMT. This team is a hyper offense team and attempts to give Charizard X the chance to sweep. I haven't really played any Pokemon since GSC so I am not very familiar with teambuilding as I just haven't used that many different pokemon. I have a very offensively oriented playstyle and I am currently in the 1600 range on the ladder.
To summarize the team, focus sash Excadrill is often used as a suicide lead that sets up rocks/keeps hazards away. LO Starmie is a second rapid spinner and applies pressure with Analytic/boltbeam/hydro. CB Scizor takes care of threats such as Clefable, Chansey/Blissey and gives my team priority with bullet punch. ZardX comes in mid-late game and attempts to sweep teams with 1-2 dragon dances with dclaw/fire punch/EQ. Mixed LO Kyu-B applies pressure with Teravolt and great coverage, and Scarfchomp rounds out the team with fast and powerful Outrages/Earthquakes.
Any advice and suggestions would be welcome! =)
Excadrill @ Focus Sash
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin
Excadrill is kind of my suicide lead w/ focus sash and I start with him maybe 60% of the time.
Excadrill gets rocks on the field and keeps entry hazards away, which ZardX and the rest of the team really hate. Excadrill stops Rotoms/galvantulas/other hazard setters away pretty well and does pretty good damage with EQ. Rock slide over iron head for more coverage.
I also switch Excadrill (and Garchomp) into predicted electric attacks and hit back hard with EQ.
Kaleido Ruby (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin
I really love Starmie, who I use as an offensive rapid spinner. Analytic and 3 attacks for coverage has worked very well for me. Starmie’s speed lets it outspeed many threats and defeat and take advantage of threats such as Gliscor with ease(Using Ice beam while Gliscor protects, then using hydro/Tbolt when it switches out). Hydro pump OHKOs Mlucario and Gengar, and does large amounts to most pokemon that don't resist it. Not sure if psychic/psyshock would be a good option over rapid spin. I’m thinking it isn’t.
Starmie also works as a pretty good check to Azumarill; it survives a belly drum aqua jet.
Rapid spin is kind of present because I used to run ZardX and Talonflame (replaced by Kyurem-B, who also hates rocks) and because of the way I use Excadrill.
Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Superpower
I just threw Scizor on this team today to replace Talonflame (leftovers- BB/flare/WoW/turn) because the 4x SR weakness was just too much, despite Talon’s ability to spread burn to switch ins and its powerful revenge killing ability.
Scizor was chosen to address my huge weaknesses to Porygon2, Clefable, Chansey/Blissey and to retain a priority move on my team. Set is pretty standard, but went with knock off over pursuit since it seems more reliable and deals more damage. U-turn does pretty good damage and gives me an advantage against faster volt-turners.
the"STRONGEST" (Charizard-Mega-X) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 176 Spd / 80 HP
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
CharizardX is the crux of this set and I find it to be very deadly due to its speed, power, and coverage after dragon dance. 176 speed to outrun base 90s (308 spd) and 80 HP for bulk, which has helped me out many times. Dragon claw/Fire punch/Earthquake are for coverage. I chose fire punch over flare blitz to prevent recoil and dragon claw over outrage to have the ability to change moves . I haven’t tried outrage, but the power looks very tempting. After +1 DD ZardX is usually a large threat, and +2 OHKOs most pokemon in the tier.
ZardX hates the rocks, Azumarill, and Lando-T, but I believe it can defeat Azumarill at +1 with 2 EQs. I usually try to use ZardX mid to late game where aforementioned threats, as well as toxic/twave users are weakened/gone.
Kyurem-Black
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 SAtk / 204 Spd / 52 HP
Hasty Nature
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Fire]
I had previously been using Alakazam for coverage/taunt, but I didn’t really need another revenge killer and Alakazam didn’t really deal with threats to my team such as Clefable, Chansey/Blissey, Gastrodon, and Quagsire.
Kyurem-B ’s coverage, power, and access to Teravolt makes a huge threat to opposing team and really helps put pressure on my opponents. 204 speed is to outspeed jolly excadrill and 52 hp for slightly more bulk. Fusion bolt to give Kyurem a physical attack and coverage against water types. Ice Beam is the STAB attack of choice, Earth Power for Heatran and Rotom, and Hidden power fire to stop any Scizors and Ferrothorns.
Despite its okay speed and its rock/fighting/steel/dragon weaknesses, I can’t believe how good Kyurem-B is; it disposes of threats/annoyances such as Dragonite, Venasaur, and Rotom with ease and does not go down easily.
Imadie (Garchomp) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Dragon Claw
Garchomp is here to die, due to his 4x ice weakness lol. In any case, Garchomp has worked well for me as a revenge killer with its powerful outrage and earthquake. Garchomp also stops many +1 DDance sweepers in their tracks. Finally, Garchomp’s rough skin is quite useful for switching it into attackers with low hp.
Thanks for reading!

Clefable- cosmic power set, added Scizor for this reason
Chansey/Blissey- Twave/toxic can really hurt zard and only Scizor can stop them with ease
Gastrodon- the lack of a grass move hurts me...
Quagsire- I think Kyurem can 2HKO 252 hp quagsire, but i dont think the rest of my team can stop it.
Porygon2- that defense...
Trick Room (though I rarely see it)
