Explanations:

Excadrill: This guy is my main sweeper. Earthquake allows him to take down fire types which threaten durant and rock slide is there for the talonflame and moltres which it doesnt hit. Iron head deals with bulky fairy types like unaware clefable and togekiss and poison jab gives him good coverage against grass types.

Goodra: Goodra has and always will be my star tank. Getting off an acid armor allows him to live an ice punch from mega medicham and his stellar sp def can tank any SE hit. With a weakness policy boost, he becomes an amazing bulky sweeper, putting a dent in anything which doesnt resist thunderbolt and dragon pulse. Rest is his recovery and gets rid of status conditions too.

Volcarona: This particular set boost his subpar defence allowing him to take hits extremely well. Quiver dance is a necessity boosting his sp def and turning him into an incredibly potent sweeper. I use fiery dance over flamethrower due to its 50% chance to increase sp atk and bug buzz is his most powerful bug move. Giga drain is used as to not make him completely helpless against bulky water types like rotom and slowbro and gives him some much needed recovery.

Durant: I haven't seen this guy used online before, but I have absolutely fallen in love with him...he is super fast and hits extremely hard with his combination of choice band and hustle. All of the moves i use have high initial accuracy as to lessen the effect of hustle while still hitting hard. I will usually avoid bringing him out until all fire types have been dealt with.

Togekiss: With nasty plot, togekiss becomes an incredible sweeper while maintaining great natural bulk. Its fairy typing also gives it some good resistances to fighting and dark, as well an immunity to dragon. Air slash and king's rock is great for flinching slower enemies and roost is needed for recovery. Aura sphere was originally going to be replaced with thunder wave as to make the most of air slashes flinching however it leaves it walled by rock and steel types. With steel on particular it allows togekiss to cover its weakness.

Tyranitar: My tyranitar set is a standard set with its mega evolution. Dragon dance allows it to become a great sweeper and along with ice punch, becomes a solid answer to the common landorus and gliscor. I use crunch and stone edge as they are simoly his most powerful stab moves. I chose to use mega tyranitar as not only is he a bulky potential sweeper, but half of my team will not take damage from sandstorm which may come in handy in the near future.

If you'd like to make use of Mega Tyranitar can I suggest using Pokemon that cover it's weaknesses?

I'd also advice you on learning about "play styles" and choosing which one suits your Mega. This makes it a lot easier to plan your team and how they should operate in battle.

What are playstyles?
http://pokemondb.net/pokebase/138438/what-are-the-battle-styles

Next, I'd also suggest ditching a few Pokemon because most of your team members are weak to stealth rock and they have no way of getting rid of it.
No offense, but I can tell you're somewhat new into Pokemon. So I'd like to suggest that you stay away from any Pokemon that are not OU...at least until you get tougher as a trainer, which I know you can :)

As for the following Pokemon, their movesets need to be changed. Or you could scrap the entire Pokemon lol (sorry about that):
1) Goodra
Thanks to it's slow speed and awful defensive stat, Goodra will be forced to endure a Powerful attack before it can use Acid Amour. After that, it's dead the following turn. The move Rest was unfortunately the most random as Goodra will be asleep the next 2 turns. A lot can happen in just two turns.
It's coverage moves aren't ideal either as Dragon and Eletric leaves it vulnerable to steel type Pokemon. If you want a bulky dragon with dragon and electric coverage, might I suggest looking into Mega Amphros or Kyurem Black?

2) ... this is going to take a long time. I could just continue bashing your efforts all in the name of "constructive criticism", or I could just show you a great example. And the rest...you'll have to figure out yourself. I'm sure you're smart enough to do that :)

I'll create a great Tyranitar team for you. In the mean time, try to learn about Pokemon play styles. It really does help.

Here's a little something I wiped up but it's a major improvement. It's a more offensive based team. But since Tyranitar is a sweeper, I figured a Hyper offensive team was more than ideal. Hope this helped :)

Thanks for your help...yeah as I said earlier this is my first time building a competitive team so not
Much experience with it. I understand that there are some major flaws with it XD...I'm currently building the team you have suggested for me so I can't wait to try it out :) thanks for rating :)

You're more than welcome :)

hey beamcore! welcome to smogon! for your first team, this is a very nice team, and you seem to have gotten the gist of what kind of pokemon to use, which is great and saves me from having to go on and on about it. however, there are some things that I personally dislike in your team, such as the movesets of specific pokemon. allow me to explain.
excadrill
problem: you lack hazard control, which means volcarona + togekiss both take a lot of damage, especially volcarona due to the x4 weakness to rock, so hazard control is pretty much mandatory!
solution: simple. rapid spin > poison jab. you already have coverage against fairy-types in the form of iron head, so it's redundant to have poison jab when some of your key mons require hazard control. if you are going to do this change, I advise you go for Life Orb > Scarf. Sadly, you do lose the speed control, but you are able to switch between your moves and your damage output is increased.

OR

togekiss
problem: you lack hazard control, like i mentioned earlier.
solution: instead of rapid spin on excadrill, go for Defog > Aura Sphere on Togekiss. You don't seem to be setting your own hazards, so Defog is the best move to use. however, you do lose the coverage against steel-types, but you have volca and exca to deal with them.

problem: choice of item isn't the best
solution: king's rock is fairly situational; it's always better to go for leftovers for longevity.

goodra
problem: ev spread is way too clunky, and moves are fairly unviable
solution: stick with the standard assault vest set, as it's a very effective set for goodra in OU. Here it is:
--
Goodra @ Assault Vest
Sap Sipper | 240 HP / 252 SpA / 16 Spe | Modest
Draco Meteor | Fire Blast | Sludge Bomb | Earthquake
--
As you can see, the EVs are fairly simple, and goodra doesn't really need to be setting up. goodra has a massive movepool, and it should be taking advantage of that. it can also switch into grass-type attackers that are aimed at tyranitar.

Adding on to what Light Yagami (Anime) said, the pokemon in the team should be watching out for each other, mainly the pokemon the team is built around, otherwise the team has no synergy. whilst I dislike the fact that they made a completely different team for you, I suggest taking a look at the team he built, and getting an idea of what kind of teams tyranitar fits on. Tyranitar is a bulky mon, and fits on teams with Pokemon such as: Keldeo, for the Lati's, Garchomp / Excadrill because they appreciate sand, Stealth Rock setters to cripple switch-ins, and much more. I'll leave you to explore that. good luck n_n

Defog > Aura Sphere

I suggest:

1. Excadrill holding air balloon instead of choice scarf, sand rush instead of mold breaker. paired with tyranitar, this thing is a beast. and also, rapid spin instead of poison jab would better since iron head already has fairy coverage.

2. Tyranitar could have stealth rocks instead of ice punch.

3. Durant holding life orb and replace thunder fang with hone claws. Hone claw and hustle combo is amazing. since hone claws lowers the chance of missing your attacks due to the accuracy drop by hustle, and also raises its already amazing attack stat by one stage.

4. King's rock does not increase togekiss' chance to flinch with air slash. i would recommend leftovers.

5. Goodra @ Damp Rock
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Rain Dance
- Curse
- Dragon Tail
- Rest

This. rain dance + hydration + rest. this means, with the presence of rain, goodra can set up curse to boost its mediocre def. stat as well as attack. then rest heals all its health back and hydration wakes it up. This means you can LITERALLY spam rest every single turn and NOT get the 2 turn sleep. the only pokes that wall this guy is fairy types who are immune to dragon tail. so be sure to rid the other team of fairy types before setting up.

Its just my opinion. Hope it helps :D

AM + Sobi

I know what you mean. It would have been much better to just explain how to build a team. But it was 1:00 am (UK time), so I didn't have the energy to write a lot. And as Beamcore mentioned earlier, he/she is new to team building. So I realized there was far too much to cover...

So I assumed it would be easier to just give him/her a sample team, which he/she could then try out...
At this point, I assumed Beamcore would edit the team as he/she see fit (as they battled)...that was my reasoning i.e. to give Beamcore a base team to get started with.

Sometimes it's a lot better to learn things via practice as opposed to learning the theories...

I'm sorry about that everyone. I should have explained myself a little more. Sometimes I tend to leave people in the dark by assuming they know a few somethings. It's an issue I'm currently working on lol gomene xD
