Hey this is my first post on the forums. Ive been brainstorming my team and simply wanted your opinions. Again, I want to address how new to this I am lol
Delphox
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Spec. Attk / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Nature: Modest
Moves:
-Flamethrower
-Psychic
-Light Screen
-Future Sight
-I am a bit biased here because Delphox is one of my favorite pokemon. The main reason I wanted to use him is because of his fire and psychic type coverage. I figured I would put EVs into his speed and special attack to play to his strengths. I chose to use flamethrower and psychic as they are in my opinion the best overall fire and psychic type moves. Due to his lower defense, I figured light screen would also be a good move to have on hand. I wasn't sure on the final move so i decided to go with future sight.
Swampert
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Def/ 252 Attk/ 4 HP
Nature: Impish
Moves:
-Waterfall
-Earthquake
-Ice Punch
-Hammer Arm
-I chose to use Swampert due to the fact that he only has one weakness (grass). Since I don't have alot of defensive pokemon in my party, I decided that I would boost about half of his IVs into defence while also giving a majority to attack to strengthen moves such as earthquake and waterfall.
I decided to give him Ice punch to cover his weakness to grass types. Due to the fact that I am also using Tyranitar, I am not sure whether I should continue using Swampert or not or whether I should change him to being Special Attack focused.
Tyranitar
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Attk/ 200 Def/ 28 Spec. Def/ 28 HP
Nature: Adamant
Moves:
-Earthquake
-Crunch
-Rock Slide
-Stone Edge
-This is where I am very torn. I don't know if it is too redundant having both Swampert and Tyranitar given their types and movesets. I mainly chose him due to my need for a dark type. Having read up on all the different dark types available, it came across to me that he had some of the best overall stats. Like Swampert, I have decided to put a majority of his EVs into his physical attack as well as his defence. Since I want him to be a defensive wall, I also put EVs into his special defence and hp. But again, because I already have a ground pokemon, I was wondering whether or not i should even use tyranitar. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Salamence
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Attk/ 252 Speed/ 4 HP
Nature: Adamant
Moves:
-Dragon Claw
-Fly
-Fire Fang
-Crunch
-Again, similar to Delphox, Salamence is one of my favorite pokemon. Ive mainly chosen him due to his incredible attack power. By putting EVs into his speed, he will hopefully be faster than most of the competition and will be able to strike first with his godly attack power. Dragon claw is probably the most reliable physical dragon attack available so that was an easy choice. I also wanted a pokemon to have a fire type move and a dark type move as a backup for when Delphox and Tyranitar faint.
Magnezone
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Spec. Attk/ 252 Speed/ 4 HP
Nature: Modest
Moves:
-Thunderbolt
-Thunder
-Flash Cannon
-Barrier
-Ive chosen Magnezone due to its coverage of Electric and Steel. Like Delphox, I plan on making Magnezone a fast, special attack focused pokemon. I wanted to give it a safe, reliable electric type move in thunderbolt as well as the more risky yet powerful thunder. Flash cannon was an easy choice given its power and accuracy. Im not too sure whether it should have barrier or not but figured it could use the extra defence.
Mienshao
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Attk/ 252 Speed/ 4 HP
Nature: Adamant
Moves:
-High Jump Kick
-U-Turn
-Fake Out
-Stone Edge
-I really am not sure whether I should have chosen a tankier fighting type or not but from what I have heard and read, Mienshao is one of the greatest fighting types available so I figured I would use it. I was greatly impressed by its regenerator ability coupled with the move U-turn. I figured I would give it fake out as a way to inflict extra damage while still having a turn afterwards. I gave it stone edge as a way to defend itself from flying types. Overall, im not sure whether I should have yet another fast, attack focused pokemon or a more tanky, defensive based fighter.
Again, this is my first time constructing a competitive team so dont be too hard on me lol.
