I've been working on this Sand team for a little while now and I still can't get most of the bugs out. I need:
Coverage help
A sixth Pokemon
Are these the best options for movesets?
Are these the best options for team slots?
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Yache Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- U-turn
- Protect
Perhaps my greatest asset against Charizard-Y because of his very fast and powerful Rock Slide. He runs Earthquake and Rock Slide to hit both opponents. U-Turn is kind of useless for me. It just sits there to look pretty. Yache Berry has saved his life a few times, so I don't want to get rid of it. The EV spread is kept simple.
Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Rock Slide
- Crunch
- Fire Punch
- Protect
While not the hero of the team per se, he is still the wonderfully bulky sand setter we know and love (or love to hate). His job is really to set sand and not die, but I didn't want to leave him hanging. Fire Punch has great coverage over whatever else I could run there, such as Aqua Tail and Ice Punch.
Heatran @ Charcoal
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Heat Wave
- Earth Power
- Dragon Pulse
- Protect
Heatran is an awesome addition to Sand teams because of his Fire typing. With Fire Gem gone, Charcoal was better for powering up Heat Wave. Earth Power gives me a Ground Special attack to work with, and Dragon Pulse lets me hit things that would resist Heat Wave.
Hitmontop (M) @ Black Belt
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Fake Out
- Feint
- Detect
Hitmontop is such a wonderful Pokemon. He really is. Black Belt-boosted Close Combats are wonderful, and his Fake Outs make life easier on his teammates. Feint, while it has never come in handy for me yet, is still useful for when an opposing Pokemon has their back to the wall, and a Protect is possible. Detect can't be Imprisoned, but I haven't seen anything using Imprison yet. The EV spread lets me use Hitmontop's defenses to a degree and still let him be somewhat fast.
Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Night Slash
- Shadow Claw
- Ice Shard
Weavile is an interesting addition to the team. He's here to assassinate Trick Room setters when it is obvious that Trick Room is gonna be set up. Icicle Crash is the Ice STAB of choice against the Flying and Ground types my team struggled against. Night Slash is awesome the aforementioned Trick Room setters and Psychic/Ghost-types. While he may seem redundant with Tyranitar's Dark-type, remember that Weavile is supposed to be fast, to hit the likes that have Focus Blasts and whatever else who threaten my Tyranitar and Landorus-T. Anyway, Shadow Claw is there just to be there because I can't use Low Kick for some reason, and Ice Shard is the only priority move on the team (better one than none).
