Pokemon Light Platinum (and other hacked games)

Hey I was thinking of downloading Pokemon Light Platinum but I don't really know anything about it at all, I've only ever played a little bit of Firered Omega...

Could someone explain what Pokemon Light Platinum is exactly, and maybe give some other hacked game examples I might wanna try and why?
