As the title says, this team is for the pokemon video game championships. So please keep that in mind and rate it accordingly. Any and all constructive criticism is greatly appreciated but please criticize with a basis and possibly suggest a solution to the problem.
The battles are with 4 pokemon in party and in 2 vs 2 format. You are allowed to keep 2 subs in team.
Descriptions are added every 2 pokemon since its easier for everyone to understand how the pokemon compliment each other by seeing them both first.
First of all, the idea behind this team is bulkiness and hard hitting. So here we go-
Metagross@Muscle Band
Evs-252 Hp 252 Atk 4 Def
Nature-Adamant
Moveset-
-Meteor Mash
-Bullet Punch
-Explosion
-Earthquake
Gengar@Lum berry/Chesto berry/Focus sash
Evs-252 Sp.atk, 252 Speed, 4 Hp
Nature-Timid
Moveset-
-Taunt
-Shadow ball
-Thunderbolt
-Hypnosis/Explosion
Metagross-With its bulkiness, meta can take a few hits, even super effective without problems and can hit back. Mash and BP are there as a combo so if mash doesn't finish in first blow(eg, for sashers), BP with be able to KO before they can do any damage the next turn. EQ for double damage if I see frail pokes like weavile or pokemon weak to EQ. Explosion for overall massive damage to any and everything, there is not much that can take a metagross' max attack Explosion. Of course Gengar's immune to both EQ and Explosion. As for the item, Life orb is obviously a stronger choice but I want meta to be able to survive a bit longer than with LO, so muscle band should do the trick.
Gengar-Taunt is for those fucking annoying Dark Void Smearegles that every single person uses. I have considered many other taunters-Azelf, Alakazam, Electrode, Aerodactyl, etc but nothing does the job as well as Gengar since Gar isn't affected by fake out which is something that almost always goes with Dark voiding smearegles. Lum berry just incase my opponent goes for the scarfgle Dark void, in which case he will still be taunted. Other than that, if I see Bronzongs, they will also be taunted preventing trick room or hypnosis. Gengar and Metagross combined can make quick work of Dusknoir with mash and shadow ball as well and neither of them are afraid of zong's explosion. If by any chance an unfortunate togekiss, clefable or furret(follow me users) show up, they will get mashbolted in the face. Even if my opponent does set up trick room with that strategy, it wouldn't matter much because the rest of my team isn't threatened by trick room, actually they may benefit from it in instances. Finally the confusion here is whether I should have hypnosis or explosion in the last slot, explosion could do double damage and wont do crap to my meta but hypnosis could provide the much needed sleep status but its accuracy is what is offsetting as I seem to always miss more with hypnosis than hit. So help deciding this would be great. And also, what item should I put on gengar of the ones I put up there as possibilities.
Zapdos@Leftovers/Wise glasses
Evs-252 Hp, 252 Sp.atk, 4 Def
Nature-Modest/Bold
Moves-
-Discharge
-Heat wave
-Roost
-Light screen/Sleep talk
Swampert@Leftovers/Grass weakening berry(Don't know its name lol)/Muscle Band
Evs-252 Hp, 252 Atk, 4 Sp.def
Nature-Adamant/Impish
Moves-
-EQ
-Waterfall
-Avalanche
-Reflect/Sleep talk
Personally I think swampert and Zapdos form the ultimate combo because both of their STAB moves are all hitters but do not affect each other.
Zapdos-I am not sure what nature I want the Zapdos to have but I think either will be fine. Discharge for double damage and the 30% chance of paralysis although I am probably never gonna get that kind of hax and nether am I counting on it. Heat wave for double damage too and to take out any grass types which bug swampert. Roost for instant recovery. Finally last slot can have either light screen or sleep talk. Light screen to protect my team from sp.atk but sleep talk could work out if Zapdos was slept late game. So help here would be good. Oh also which should I use on Zapdos, Wise glasses or Lefties? Wise glasses over LO for the same reason as Meta.
Swampert-
EQ for double damage, waterfall for yet another stab on whoever hates it, avalanche for double damage and for dragons. Finally in last slot. either sleep talk for same reason as Zappy or reflect to form the ultimate barrier with Zappy's Light screen, again which should I run? Also which item on pert do you all think is the best?
These pokies are the subs-
Dusknoir@Lefties
Evs-252 HP, 252 Atk. 4 Def
Nature-Adamant/Relaxed
Moves-
-EQ
-Shadow Punch/Shadow sneak
-Ice Punch
-Thunder Punch
Good type coverage along with hard hitting and bulkiness. I think knoir would be a good replacement lead for gar.
Aerodactyl@Focus sash/Lum berry/Chesto berry/Muscle band-
Evs-252 Atk, 252 Speed, 4 Hp
Nature-Jolly
Moves-
-Rock Slide
-Taunt
-EQ
-Fire Fang/Ice Fang/Thunder Fang
Alternative taunter and will go with Knoir as lead rather well. Which of the fangs do you think would be good? And what item would be good for lead Aero?
Any other suggestions would be great as well :D
