[SET COMMENTS]

Politoed enables a powerful but matchup-reliant archetype in rain due to being the only Drizzle Pokemon in the tier. However, outside of setting rain, Politoed is a generally underwhelming Pokemon that can’t provide much help to rain teams itself and often becomes a momentum sink due to its passiveness. Encore allows it to deal with bulkier threats that would wall it otherwise and discourage Pokemon from setting up on it. Toxic can break down walls in tandem with Encore, particularly bulky Water-types that pose a threat to rain teams like Seismitoad. Hypnosis trades some effectiveness against passive builds for the potential to shut down common roadblocks to rain teams like Zarude and Milotic, and maintain utility against more offensive teams looking to take advantage of Politoed’s passivity. Ice Beam chips Grass-types like Zarude, 3HKOes Dragalge, and OHKOes Noivern with the Special Attack investment. Perish Song forces bulky setup sweepers out, allowing Politoed to check Pokemon like Suicune, Snorlax, and Reuniclus. Finally, Rest allows Politoed to continue setting rain when severely weakened and in long matches against passive teams. Non-Ice Beam variants can invest the 76 Special Attack EVs into Defense, as they do nothing significant with Scald. 56 Speed EVs let Politoed outrun Alolan Marowak, but 92 Speed EVs can be ran for Milotic, which Encore + Toxic variants can beat.

Politoed’s only niche is setting rain, so Pokemon that take advantage of it are necessary. Swift Swim Pokemon like Kingdra, Omastar, and Kabutops can offensively pressure the opponent and sweep once they are weakened. Seismitoad can also provide an Electric immunity and Stealth Rock. Electric-types of your own like Raikou and Heliolisk are able to run Thunder and Weather Ball as coverage and check Electric- or Water-types. Tornadus also enjoys fully accurate Hurricane and Weather Ball coverage. Toxicroak appreciates the Dry Skin recovery and can switch into bulky Water-types with impunity. Steel-types like Metagross and Steelix can provide good defensive utility for rain teams. Finally, entry hazard setters such as Klefki and Roserade can help pressure bulkier cores that threaten rain such as Suicune + Assault Vest Reuniclus, as well as synergizing with the surprising amount of switches Politoed can force from defensive Pokemon.

Perish Song forces bulky setup sweepers out, allowing Politoed to check Pokemon like Suicune, Snorlax, and Reuniclus before they become too hard to overwhelm. Finally, Rest allows Politoed to continue setting rain when severely weakened and in long, drawn out matches against passive teams. Non-Ice Beam variants can invest the 76 Special aAttack into bulk, as it does not significantly affect calcs nothing significant with Scald. 56 sSpeed EVs lets Politoed outrun Alolan Marowak, but 92 sSpeed EVs can be ran for Milotic, which Encore + Toxic variants can beat.

Politoed’s only niche is setting rain, so Pokemon that take advantage of weather are necessary. Swift Swim Pokemon like Kingdra, Omastar and Kabutops can offensively pressure the opponent and sweep once they are weakened. Seismitoed can also provide an Electric immunity and Stealth Rock. Electric-types of your own are also great partners as they are able to run Thunder and Weather Ball as coverage. From Of (remove... tab?)these, Thundurus is the strongest wallbreaker, (AC) but Raikou and Heliolisk are viable for their defensive utility in checking other Electric- and Water-types respectively. Tornadus also enjoys fully accurate Hurricanes and Weather Ball coverage. Toxicroak appreciates the Dry Skin recovery and can switch into bulky Water-types with impunity. Finally, hazard setters such as Klefki and Roserade can help pressure bulkier teams (completely your call, but perhaps mention a couple of common defensive cores that rain can struggle with? Seems a little vague otherwsie imo) that rain can struggle with, as well as synergizing with the surprising amount of switches Politoed can force on defensive Pokemon.

Biggest thing is your call to begin with. Rest of it is quite minor, so [QC 1/2]

Outside of setting rain, however, Politoed is a generally underwhelming Pokemon that can’t provide much help to rain teams itself. (mention how it can be a momentum sink as well because of the lack of offensive pressure and the fact that it has no safe way to bring in the rain sweepers). Encore allows it to deny momentum from bulkier threats that would wall it otherwise, as well as discouraging Pokemon from setting up on it. Toxic can break down walls in tandem with Encore, particularly bulky Water-types like Seismitoad that pose a threat to rain teams. Non-Ice Beam variants can invest the 76 Special Attack into bulk Defense, as it does nothing significant with Scald. (remove any ambiguity about what you can move the special attack investment to, unless you genuinely feel it can be put into both sides of bulk, then ignore this. although imo it shld be defense only cuz base spdef is good enough as it is). 56 Speed EVs lets Politoed outrun Alolan Marowak, but 92 Speed EVs can be ran for Milotic, which Encore + Toxic variants can beat.

Politoed’s only niche is setting rain, so Pokemon that take advantage of weather it are necessary. (only one form of weather here, and u alr mention it at the start of the sentence). Swift Swim Pokemon like Kingdra, Omastar and Kabutops can offensively pressure the opponent and sweep once they are weakened. Seismitoed (typo) can also provide an Electric immunity and Stealth Rock. Electric-types of your own are also great partners as they are able to run Thunder and Weather Ball as coverage. - you decide, but i would talk about defensive sr setters, mainly steels cuz they benefit from rain weakening fire attacks. good here imo because it gives you a defensive midground after setting up the first round of rain instead of having to predict and send out one of ur rain abusers, and can also avoid poli being weakened from going for encore or hypnosis to find a safe switch in opportunity for the abusers. potentially frees up seis to click in rain instead of having to get up rocks one turn.
- perhaps mention some mons that can run eject button as team support, because poli itself doesnt rly have a safe way to bring in abusers, eject button can be nice for the initial round of rain, set up rain -> go eject mon to take a hit -> bring in abuser safely.
