Polteagiest Full Analysis

Polteageist really shouldn’t be in RU. It has some insane moves and strategies that can be used that are mentioned in this analysis. First are Polteageist’s stats, it has good Special Attack and Special Defense but bad everything else. This all changes when we look at it’s moveset though, it can learn quite a few moves but the one that really stands out is Shell Smash, if you pair this with a White Herb. You aren’t lowering its defenses but it still hits like a truck with its Special Attack stat and it is now a fast Pokémon. You can pair this Special Attack boost with a STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) Shadow Ball which already has base 80 power and has a 1/10 chance to lower your opponents Special Defense, making your next Shadow Ball hit even harder if you get the drop. Back to the topic of Speed, it has access to the ability Weak Armor. Weak Armor activates whenever you are hit with a physical move, it then lowers the Pokémon who has Weak Armors Defense stat, but in return raises its speed by 2 stages, making Polteagiest even faster. This is made better considering most of the possible counters against Polteagiest are special attackers meaning that you may never actually lose your defense, if you do manage to go against a physical attacker in the battlefield and it outspeeds, you can actually run Strength Sap on Polteagiest. Not only having the opponent doing the same amount of damage you were actually able to live last turn because of Weak Armor, but also fully increasing your health all the way up in the process, creating reliable recovery. On top of that, since Weak Armor is going to activate, you outspeed the next turn. If you have a lot of boosts up in the current battle you can use Stored Power, a move that adds +20 base power whenever you get +1 in any stat. When your Polteagiest is set up with a Shell Smash and maybe a Weak Armor speed boost, this move is going to do a truck load of damage, this move can also be used quite a lot of times meaning that you can send an onslaught of Stored Powers against the opponents team. Also a little extra small detail is that every move on this destructive set starts with the letter S.

Move 1: Shadow Ball
Move 2: Stored Power
Move 3: Strength Sap
Move 4: Shell Smash
Item: White Herb
Ability: Weak Armor
Nature: Modest/Timid
EVs: 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 Def

Hi, if you are interested in doing analyses, please reserve the Pokemon you're doing an analysis on here, and follow the formats listed here when working on your analysis. Do take a look through the resources available and feel free to ask questions if you have any.

I'll be locking this
