Ponyta @ Firium Z
Ability: Flame Body
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 76 Def / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Flame Charge
- High Horsepower
- Morning Sun / Wild Charge

Ponyta poses a threat to the LC metagame thanks to its offensive presence and its ability to use a Z-Move to either take out certain threats for its team or act as a wincon. This set makes use of Ponyta's high Attack stat to fire off a powerful Inferno Overdrive coming from Flare Blitz to KO bulkier, non-resistant Pokemon, such as Timburr after chip damage and Vullaby after Stealth Rock damage. Ponyta can choose to run either Morning Sun for a reliable source of recovery or Wild Charge to deal with Water-types. Ponyta appreciates teammates that can take care of both entry hazards and Ground-types such as Diglett and Mudbray, so Snivy and Staryu are good options. Fighting-types such as Mienfoo or Timburr help Ponyta deal with Onix even though Ponyta can already hit it with High Horsepower. Lastly, Mareanie is annoying for Ponyta to handle, so Pokemon that can handle it such as Electric-types like Magnemite and Chinchou, and Diglett are appreciated, as they help Ponyta by spamming their STAB moves or trapping Mareanie, respectively.

This set makes use of its Ponyta's high Attack stat to fire off a powerful Inferno Overdrive coming from Flare Blitz to knock out KO bulkier, (AC) non-resistant Pokemon, (AC) (the pause helps) that don't resist it such as Timburr after chip damage and Vullaby after Stealth Rock damage. Ponyta can choose whether to run either Morning Sun for as a source of reliable source of recovery or Wild Charge if it needs to deal with Water-types. Ponyta appreciates teammates that can take care of both entry hazards and Ground-types such as Diglett and Mudbray and entry hazards getting removed, thus so Snivy or and Staryu being are good options. Fighting-types such as Mienfoo or Timburr help Ponyta to deal with Onix, (RC) despite hitting even though Ponyta can already hit it with High Horsepower. Lastly, Mareanie is annoying for Ponyta to handle, so Pokemon that can handle it such as Electric-types such as like Magnemite and Chinchou, (RC) and Diglett are appreciated, as they help it Ponyta by spamming their STAB moves or trapping Mareanie, respectively.
