Porygon Z Sweep! OU RMT

Okay, after testing this team extensively, I really want to make it for Wifi. But, I've already burned out my last two Action Replays, and I want to make sure this team is perfect before producing it.

I normally have a ton of trouble building teams. UU is my favorite tier, yet every time I build a team, it fails, and nothing can fix that. Maybe it's my short attention span, but whatever.

The past Platinum teams I've made in OU have been "Scizor Offensive", and that doesn't ever work against experienced players. I felt like going back to D/P basics, and thus, I made this. Of course I'm acknowledging the Platinum changes, but I'm not playing just for them.

This team is meant to set up a Agility Porygon Z sweep, through taking out Porygon Z's counters, such as Blissey and Cresselia. This is accomplished by having Boah and Mence come out and destroy them. Bulky Gyara keeps my team from being destroyed by common threats like MixApe, and Double Intimidate is nice. So, here it is, Team P-Z Sweep.

gengar.png

Gengar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 6 HP / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -SpA)
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power Ice
- Trick

Scarf Gengar leads off my team in style, countering many opposing leads, such as Aerodactyl, Gyarados, and Bronzong. Thunderbolt hits Gyarados, Yanmega, and Aerodactyl, and provides Bolt-Beam coverage with Hidden Power Ice, which hits Dragons. Trick lets me cripple set-up leads, and generally just messes up my opponent's leading strategy.

breloom.png

Breloom (M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 44 HP / 252 Atk / 212 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Leech Seed
- Seed Bomb

Breloom is here to stop my massive Tyranitar weakness as well as keeping pressure on my opponent with Leech Seed. It also functions as my status absorber with Toxic Orb. Sub-Punch allows for massive damage with a 150 Base Power STAB move coming off Breloom's great Attack stat, and Seed Bomb also gets STAB and helps with bulky waters.

gyarados.png

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 108 Att / 100 Def / 144 Spe
Nature: Adamant (+Atk, -SpA)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Taunt

Bulky Gyarados has saved my team many times. Double Intimidate is invaluable on things like Scizor. I chose Earthquake over Stone Edge because I'm not going to be facing Zapdos with this anyway, and Earthquake makes it a nice Infernape and Heatran counter. Taunt is useful for late-game Bronzong and other things that like to set up. I don't feel the need for Rest-Talk Gyara, as I already have a status absorber in Breloom

salamence.png

Salamence (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 80 Att / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Nature: Rash (+SpA, -SpD)
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Brick Break
- Crunch

MixMence is my first Wall Breaker, and it really breaks things. With Gyara taking any Ice type moves things throw at it, it can constantly dominate the match. Draco Meteor OHKOs a lot of physical walls that come in, expecting DD Mence, and Fire Blast destroys Forry and Skarmory. Brick Break and Crunch take care of the things that wall Porygon Z, Blissey, Snorlax, and Cresselia.

tyranitar.png

Tyranitar (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Atk / 28 Spe / 168 SpA
Nature: Quiet (+SpA, -Spe)
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse

Boah is the Second mixed attacker, and also is important for breaking the walls that Porygon-Z can't touch. Tyranitar is also pretty bulky, and allows for pretty safe switch ins, and free Substitutes. Ice Beam hits Dragons and Zapdos, and Dark Pulse hits Cress, Uxie, and Ghosts. Sand Stream doesn't help my team at all, but it is useful for breaking opponent's sashes.

porygonZ.png

Porygon-Z @ Life Orb
Ability: Download
EVs: 252 SpA / 6 HP / 252 Spe
Nature: Modest (+SpA, -Att)
- Agility
- Tri-Attack
- Dark Pulse
- Hidden Power Fighting

Porygon Z is my cleaner, who I've been setting up from Turn 1. He gets to about 558 Speed after an Agility, which outspeeds everything in OU, and with that base 135 Special Attack, can OHKO almost everything. The moves provided give great coverage, and can hurt most of the metagame.

Download occasionally gives Tri Attack a power boost from 120 to 160. Yummy.

No download boosts your special attack/attack. Your thinking of adaptability.

I can see a big DD tyranitar weakness. Dragon Dance, Crunch, Earthquake and Stone Edge hits all your team (Bar Z) super effective and once Gengar is down, if +Spd Nature he outspeeds all your team after a DD. You probally need something else to deal with him...

Porygon-Z needs to have Adaptability, not Download. Decent team, but you need a special wall. If your Porygon-Z is down, most of your team can be taken out by an opposing Porygon-Z. If that Z is using the Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Dark Pulse/Hp Fighting set, then your team is done for.

I think download is fine. Assuming you bring it in on something with higher defense, you boost all your moves. Not just tri-attack.

Not much of a rate but w/e

Change your Gyarados into a Restalker because you use it primarly on the defensive and Bulky Gyarados will get worn down quickly with no Recovery move, SS recoil negating leftovers and the possibility of SR severly weakening Gyara everytime he comes in. I prefer DD/Waterfall/ Rest/ Sleep Talk for the movesets since it allows you to defeat Scizor. Celebi works well with this too since it takes out bulky waters whihc walll this ;D.

Hmmm, I would like to fit a spinner on this team somewhere since 5/6 of your team hate entry hazards (Gyarados won't last as long with SR present, Salamence fares even worse than Gyarados since it takes 25% from switching in + 10% from attacking and another possible 6% from SS, Celebi, Tyrantitar and Porygon Z are all eventually killed off by Toxic Spikes, Sub and LO will only speed up the process). I would suggest possibly Donphan over Tyrantitar because you already have Leech Seed Celebi, TrickGar and Mixmence to deal with walls while SS isn't exactly benefiting your team as mentioned earlier. Donphan gives you a spinner while giving you a solid answer to DD Tar to boot.

Hopefully that helped!

switch fire blast to flamethrower on mixmence. the extra power is not needed as flamethrower wit max spattack and life orb always 1hko the steels and the accuracy is much more needed, also may i suggest CBtar? he handles most things better except stuff like skarmory which is already covered by salamence, porygonz and can actually beat zapdos (im almost sure boah without 252 spa cant beat him) with stone edge and the extra power ensures not even suicune can switch in safely on stone edge (it does around 50% considering perfect IVs and thats rare on wifi) also he destroys spiritomb with his attack although watch out for burns. as for gengar i would suggest trick as it can cripple a troublesome sweep/wall and hp ice for better revenge kills. porygon-z should go with shadowball and hp fighting (it hits everything nuetral) instead of dark pulse. for celebi i suggest dropping earth power for recover, for longer suvival and to be more annoying for the opponent. sorry for cramming and being sloppy, hope i helped

I don't think you should use Tyranitar unless Sandstorm benefits your team in some way.

Why not try a MixApe? It provides some much-needed speed on a relatively slow team and is an excellent wall breaker.

If Cresselia and Blissey are giving you the most grief however, try a Choice Scarf Heracross or something similar.

Adaptability > Download on PZ.

Hope I helped.

@ C. Falcon: How should I deal with that. It hasn't really been a problem before...

@ Surf: It doesn't, really. P-Z can usually get at least 5 kills before dying of that.

@ Puggy: I'll certainly test Donphan. But, I despise Rest-Talkers...

@ Poo: Okay, changed Fire Blast. Do you know anything about Boah? Read up. Celebi will stay Earth Power, though, because Leech Seed and Lefties give me enough healing.

I am not entirely sure that Celebi needs Earth Power either. Use Thunderwave or Recover, so you can actually stand a chance against Gyarados without resorting to revenge kill with Gengar.

Tyranitar and Gyarados can handle any assault Heatran can throw at them. Thunderwave will mess up a Heatran switch-in anyways. Earth Power is a total waste of a moveslot on Celebi, who needs all the utility it can get.

On Porygon-Z, you could drop the speed down to 263, which outruns Scarfgar after the Agility. Then you've got 17 extra stat points to play around with, while still achieving the same "outrun everything" goal. Another item worth consideration is Silk Scarf, gives a 20% boost to Tri Attack, but doesn't chip away at your HP. Wiseglasses gives a 10% boost to all attacks.

I'll test it, but I've been going up against some nifty Electrivires.

Oh, and just so you know, You were the one who inspired me to use the Agility set.
