SV OU Porygon-Z Webs

Heard Roaring Moon was being suspected, hopped on the ladder for the first time in ages to try my hand at singles teambuilding. This is my first time on the forums, so please bear with me.

The team is nothing special, I peaked at ~1360 elo in about 25 games, though a fair number of my losses can be attributed to me being bad at singles.

guess my set (Kyurem) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pressure
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 16 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 236 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Blizzard
- Earth Power
- Draco Meteor

The first pokemon I wanted to build my team around. Originally a Loaded Dice set, I found it works much better as a scarfed cleaner. It is EV'd to outspeed Dragapult by 2 after scarf bonus, and coincidentally outspeeds Dragonite and Regidrago by 1.

Secures surprise OHKO's on most Landorus, Ogerpon-W, untera'd Dragonite, Enamorus, and Tusk, and deals big damage to Zapdos. If Snow is up from Chilly Reception, Blizzard is also an option to OHKO Zapdos and deal big damage to some switch-ins. Earth Power and Draco for coverage, though I find i don't use Draco much. Ground tera to boost Earth Power for important KO's when necessary.

Sometimes I try to lead with Kyurem to catch enemy leads off-guard with the scarf as they usually anticipate Dragon Dance or a switch. Notably, Ting-Lu will survive all these attacks easily, so be cautious if your opponent has one.

Tera Ground for more Earth Power damage and Thunder Wave immunity.

zoop (Slowking-Galar) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 68 Def / 28 SpA / 160 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Sludge Bomb
- Psyshock
- Chilly Reception
- Thunder Wave

The team's special wall. Has some offensive capability as well, being a pretty standard Glowking set. Chilly Reception can be used to give Kyurem a defense boost and make Blizzard 100% accurate. Poison tera is a bit of an odd choice, but it's mostly because I almost never see the need to defensively tera Glowking anyway, might as well give it the option for an offensive boost.

The EV's don't really have a reason for being spread, I just shuffle Glowking's around every so often for testing.

gambling denier (Moltres) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost
The designated Kingambit counter, as well as a switch-in for physical threats, mostly ones that threaten Kyurem and Porygon-Z. Modest nature is kind of arbitrary, giving a very slight boost to secure some KO's after chip, because I found that with and without the defensive nature, most attacks still took the same number of hits to KO.

Tera Fairy to emergency counter Kingambit if low.

steel chair (Porygon-Z) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Download
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Tera Blast
- Nasty Plot
The star of the show. Between Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and Terablast-Ground, very few mons can take avoid taking supereffective damage. Between Expert Belt and Download, you're also nearly guaranteed at minimum a 2HKO on most switch-ins if you switch in on a SpA boost. However, Porygon-Z's 90 base speed is painfully middling and should almost never come out without webs or if you're CERTAIN you're faster, as it will be KO'd by almost anything stronger than a light breeze.

Important targets include Great Tusk (Ice Beam outspeeds and deals 138.7 - 163.5%), Gliscor, Corviknight, Gholdengo (Terablast-Ground outspeeds and deals 139.1 - 163.7%), Kingambit, Landorus, Raging Bolt (Ice Beam outspeeds and deals 102.5 - 120.9% if Bolt does not invest in bulk), Iron Moth (Porygon-Z actually SURVIVES both fiery dance and sludge wave with +SpA booster after tera somehow), Zapdos, Moltres, you get the idea, anything that takes a supereffective hit is out for the count.

-> sticky web <- (Araquanid) @ Custap Berry
Ability: Water Bubble
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 124 HP / 252 Atk / 132 SpD
Careful Nature
- Liquidation
- Leech Life
- Endeavor
- Sticky Web
Bog standard sticky web setter. This one in particular invests a ton in ATK rather than all in bulk, because I find that most attacks that go into Araquanid are special.

You may be wondering, why not Surf with special attack to drop lead pokemon? Well, Liquidation hits things that AREN'T ground-type leads extremely hard as well, and it gets the jump on special walls that switch in with the massive power of Water Bubble Liquidation. Notably, Gholdengo will often try to set up in front of this thing, but it's EV'd to tank +2 Shadow Ball within custap range, and 2HKO back. It's also extremely difficult to switch into, and with Custap Berry, it's nearly impossible to stop a Liquidation or Leech Life from coming through. Also of note, Ogerpon often switches in to try to eat a Liquidation, but takes 80% from leech instead. Ting-Lu also gets 2HKO'd by Liquidation.

I actually try not to lead with this thing as it's the obvious lead mon on this team, so my opponent usually tries to counterlead it or lead their own hazard setter who may or may not have taunt. Webs are important for Porygon-Z so I try to get them on the field late in the game. Because Araquanid is so specially bulky, you can often switch it into a special attack later in the game and get either a Liquidation or webs off then, then use Custap berry to do the other.

Tera Ghost for spinblocking, of course.

zoomer (Iron Treads) @ Leftovers
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
Typical rapid spinner. No booster speed, rather, it's an iron press set I find myself pretty happy with, as it provides some semblance of fighting coverage on this team, and can provide another answer to Kingambit as necessary. EV'd to make sure Knock Off 2HKO's Dragapult after any chip.

Tera Ghost for spinblocking, of course.

Hey, I liked the team a lot, but I would suggest you to change some things at the team.

First of all, I would switch Treads for Tusk and run a spin + hazard set, like this:

Great Tusk @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Protosynthesis
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Water
Jolly Nature
- Headlong Rush
- Knock Off / Ice Spinner
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock

The main reason is that you already have a "suicide lead" at Araquanid, so having 2 frail leads is definitively not what I would recommend for you.

Apart from that, I would slightly change Araquanid's moveset to include Endure instead of Leech Life. Since Custap needs you to be at 1/4 HP or lower, and Endure is the best way to guarantee that your pokémon is going to survive his attack and use a +1 priority move next round.

After That, I would change Kyurem's set to choice specs. Since you are running a webs team, and you have good checks to mons that can outspeed Kyurem with webs on their field, like Darkrai, Dragapult (If using Heavy-Duty Boots) and Enamorus, they are mostly not going to be a problem if u play the right way versus them. And a Choice Specs Blizzard on Hail is going to hit really hard.

Last but not least, I would change Porygon's Tera to Ghost type. This could come in hand while facing a spinner, this way you are going to maintain webs on the field and keep your momentum. To pair up, I would change the set to a Choice Specs + Trick set, like this one:

Porygon-Z @ Choice Specs
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Ghost
Timid Nature
- Tri Attack
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
- Nasty Plot

This way, you can trap mons like Excadrill and Tusk and gain a free turn of setup or switching into your now Specs Kyurem, gaining momentum and dealing significant damage at his team.

Hope I could help u at some extent, the team idea is really good, have fun playing!
