Resource Post-OMPL VI thread

Approved by The Immortal

Hi everyone! The purpose of this thread is primarily to provide OMPL players and managers a venue for sharing sets and teams they've devised throughout our longest team tournament yet. I have, however, also compiled player records (as usual), and they can be found here: http://spo.ink/ompl

Usually I do some more elaborate sorting of records, and commenting on trends, and such, but for now I'm eager to get this thread out into the world, since there seems to be higher demand than ever, and I am also trying to put the focus on the sets rather than the records since I have a spreadsheet this time around. May edit in some finer-grained distinctions later, though.

I'll also try to keep track of what people post for each metagame:

Happy posting, and thanks for participating in OMPL this year!

Ik that my record was garbage once again, but I really believe the shit I used were one of the more consistent ones this tour.

Super solid goth balance created to deal with just about every team

Xatu ho. Ho is garbage in general when it comes to consistency, but I tried to do my best with this one. Hard to use, but it's a great team overall

Teams are of variable strength/viability, a bunch were tuned just to fight the specific opp.

Version without the hide tags for your pasting pleasure https://pokepast.es/57134785542c1ad4

Another year another dump (not just ompl teams, which is why i didnt post in ompl thread). I've included star ratings, with 5 star teams being equal to my best teams I've built, and 1 star teams being equal to the worst teams I've built. I didn't include teams that I considered mediocre or bad, and I think some of these teams could be considered for samples):

=================================TEAMS USED FOR OMPL (reverse chronological)=======================================
★★★★★ -- Aurora Veil
https://pokepast.es/b1c16c9ad000a50b

S/o to Laxpras for making the original team, and though the sets are all different from the original except mew, I still followed his general formula. I wouldve asked if I can post this but he's dead so w/e All the threats on this team are not heavily prepared for, revenge killing potential is great between espeed zyg, sucker punch, and the surprising bulk on this team. It has an insane matchup against bulkier teams, and can handle offensive teams decently.

★★★★★ -- Weavile Talonflame
https://pokepast.es/0ccf8326d46bec16

S/o to quantum for suggesting talonflame. Defensive backbone is extremely solid, while talonfalme/weavile/snorlax form a very powerful offensive core that can break through tons of teams if played correctly. Against more conventional teams this team can really net some free wins

★★★★ -- Lil nubbins
https://pokepast.es/053f0ab151d6e93b

f

★★★½ -- GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS
https://pokepast.es/22ac2521e6a88e6d

It's called the golden state warriors mainly because I called the doublade "zaza pachulia," due to its prankster destiny bond set, in honor of nba player zaza pachulia's infamous takedown of nba MVP candidate kawhi leonard in the 2017 nba playoffs. Doublade works almost identically in that regard. Rumor has it that this team also "never loses" buuuuut...
(This belongs in the meme category, it's basically 4 mons that secure surprise kills while bulu and chomp sweep)

★★ -- anti-HO stall
https://pokepast.es/d5f5a6b9eea30cc8

im not proud of this team, literally all i did was say "oh fissure uses HO" and thought "hmm weavile stall" and went through his replays and added some counters oof

★★½ -- used this v sabella
https://pokepast.es/3b6551ef4bb1abdc

this was a laxpras 5 minute team when he discovered magnet pull nidoking, I made the hydreigon set, and the problem with using a team meant to support a terrible set is that the set that the team is built around is pretty bad, seriously tho when i bopped 2 fairy types in practice it was hype

★★★★ -- stall but with offense sort of
https://pokepast.es/8987dae56e458267

This is a type of team I really don't think I'll be able to build again. It just has fantastic synergy in general, accounting for most of the offensive threats in the meta. Speed control is great, and this team was even better when people didn't realize how good volcarona was.

=====================================OTHER TEAMS===============================================
★★★★½ -- double trapper offense
https://pokepast.es/ae385660623d4b76

The first 4 mons essentially form 6 effective two-mon cores; Lax/Koko/Weav all appreciate removal of steels, Weavile/Snorlax/Koko can handle the vast majority of special attackers while maintaining offensive pressure, U-turn Koko helps set up all three of the other mons, and snorlax sponges status for the rest. Tapu fini + weavile + mew cover the physical side.

★★★½ -- PANDA
https://pokepast.es/aaba16d2c74e2a09

I'm starting to get tired of typing so pangoro kills things and there's u-turn mons and some other cool mons like that genesect

★★★½ -- electric dogaloo
https://pokepast.es/034940dc6a82e34d

this is an entirely matchup based team; if they have a zera counter you might lose, if they don't you probably win. electric surge, volt turn, and wish support remedy all of zera's problems. choose whatever coverage based on who you're facing

★★★½ -- the triple tapu tangerine
https://pokepast.es/f56ed74dfc974e40

standard shit kinda

★★★ -- Trace Victini
https://pokepast.es/404f71bcb9b76c5b

trace victini was an idea that popped into mind, it helps a ton w rain/sun/terrain matchup, lets you counter magearna, and lets you revenge kill powerful shit with powerfuller v-creates

★★½ -- the house of unrecognized talent

https://pokepast.es/7d85e589811fce01
5 out of 6 sets are literally not referenced on the viability rankings. this was my first successful team this summer and its fun but magnet pull wins instantly and rocks can mess this team up

=====weather====

★★★½ -- rain
https://pokepast.es/7c080cc851fc0b4d

you just go lando and then click attacks, you can bluff swift swim on mana and volcanion too if ur really wild

★★★½ -- sun
https://pokepast.es/8b9fffde7a9cd4de

idea is to u-turn with victini on flash fire mons and rack up kills w blace, then clean with aboma which is hella clean. hazards are nearly impossible to get against this team because magic bounce zyg + fini so 4 rock weaks aint even a problem

★★★ -- sand
https://pokepast.es/4114b6100b6f7869

HO sand has basically no niche, and sand FEAR is pretty bad, so nihilego/megachomp are the only two non-outclassed things. av nihilego in sand is a very weird wincon to build around but this mon singlehandedly wins games, the team can dominates the hazard war while chipping the opponent with leech seed, sand, scalds, and knocks. chomp breaks teams in half and lets nihilego (which has basically 0 consistent counters w hazards) win. satisfying to use

hail -- see "LIL NUBBINS"

=======memes========

3 of my ompl teams used could go here :|

★★★ -- BANDSPAM
https://pokepast.es/e6d5bfebdfacd3f7

probably the best team ever, the gameplan is to spam powerful attacks till shit gets worn down, then reveal choice band fini somehow, then say in the chat "xD i love using mono choice band!" and then bluff the choice band with magearna and sweep with it. fr tho this team is fire

★★½ -- Volclureona
https://pokepast.es/d42e4def2e68b40f

this team is so fun, it's so ass on paper but i swear this team does not ever lose, you basically just lead volcarona on their noivern or zygarde or chomp lead and kill, it's so fun to use. i put lick on snorlax or else this might be possibly mistaken for a serious team

It's been a wonderful season on the Honchkrows and I'm happy to say that this OMPL will definitely be one that I'll remember.

Without further ado, here are the teams I used throughout my weeks!

https://pokepast.es/c92b849c2782f563
Built with Holy Break

This is a team built around Magearna, Primal Groudon, and Ho-oh checking a majority of the tier while providing rocks and defog support in the process. Ray was mainly for breaking while Darkceus and Zyg-C shored up the defenses.

It ended up working decently well, securing an early win vs shiloh.

https://pokepast.es/b12b97ceeaad824b
Built by Terracotta

S/O Terra for passing me this team for W2; I didn't know what to bring vs Garay. Unfortunately hax and a bit of MU got in the way of the win, but it's still a solid team.

https://pokepast.es/a3062c785ab56bf1

The Specs Xern team, built around the core of M-Gar, Xern, and P-Ogre, turned out to be quite solid. PDon, Arceus-Rock, and Arceus-Ground, ended up being my defensive core this time around.

This team ended up being very effective against Skarpherim's bulky build and secured a G1 win.

https://pokepast.es/71b3feeceb569372

My next team focused around Scarf Ray and RP Mixed PDon to beat offensive builds alongwise a Specs nala to give balance headaches. Ho-oh and Arceus-Fairy checked a variety of threats while CM Arc-Rock could clean up against balance builds.

Unfortunately, a misplay by me late game cost me the game, but it remains a solid pick against anything outside of stall.

https://pokepast.es/bf842bf1884d380f

Finally, my last team was built around M-Gar, DD Zyg-C, and CM Arceus-Dark to demolish a variety of builds and do especially well vs offense.

Scarf Marsh and Outrage U-Necro, along with a bad groundceus match up, cost me the game but this team remains a fantastic team.

This was by far my most difficult match up this tour so I decided to maximize my preparations. I wasn't particularly lucky but the series was still close nonetheless.

https://pokepast.es/3a90bceeb3a6edae

Built around webs, I threw on Necro-Ultra and M-Gar as unusual techs on webs. Rest of the team filed in around this core.

The actual game was quite interesting, with a mirror webs MU. A critical speed tie and Outrage roll cost me the game but wasn't too bad regardless.

https://pokepast.es/31fd934625e703c9

Whirlpool Trap Darkceus was the idea around this team, with a variety of techs to do well vs bulkier builds and faster builds alike. While this left me with less Supportceus than a standard AG team would like, the team synergy was enough that I felt comfortable.

The actual game turned out to be a payoff for all the prep, with my EV spreads giving hunter headaches left and right.

https://pokepast.es/8053231de34ff66c

I actually built this team to give offense and balance a variety of headaches. The unique Zyg set paired with M-gar could trap and eliminate threats quickly.

Hunter did bring offense but luck and mouse1 wouldn't cooperate with me. Still a fantastic series that I'm happy to say I participated in.

https://pokepast.es/43afdeaf52d2cf60
Huge shoutout to PurpleGatorade and Pigeons

I was looking for a solid defensive ogre team and Purple and Pigeons helped me out this week. Huge thanks to both of them!

The game went quite simply with the team performing extremely well.

https://pokepast.es/329c636d3564078b

Built around Vivillon + Excadrill, this team showcased the best and the worst of AG. The other members were simply boilerplate HO mons that were thrown on to add more power.

The game itself didn't actually get to viv, and DD ray promptly swept.

https://pokepast.es/b3cf907d80769d9f
Built with Leru and Holy Break

This was by far the most innovative team, built around Yveltal and Gira-O. With no arceus to boot, dual scarves on Xern and Ray had to be used to ensure a playable offense match up.

Fortunately, the team performed excellently vs GRNBLN's HO, securing a solid win into the playoffs

https://pokepast.es/aa536fffad62f50f

As for finals, I went with a comfort pick and recycled the team from week 1.

While the match up was not in my favor at the beginning, it ended up coming down to a crucial speed tie that determined the game.

Building was fun every week especially with much support from my team. S/O Holy Break Leru Terracotta and mags for providing help every week and supporting my with my builds and tests. I'll make a bigger shoutout post soon for all of my amazing team members.

MnM Stuff

W1: g1 https://pokepast.es/9b34cca375eaf6e0
g2 https://pokepast.es/58db36c3b1765aa9
(g3) https://pokepast.es/5e7b476af3d62783

Not proud of these, probably the weakest teams I built this ompl. I put more eefort into quantity and team variants (I managed to have over 10 variants throughout the 3 teams at some point) than actual team quality. g3 team's meme might actually have some use, sadly it didn't get used this ompl.

W3: https://pokepast.es/24e508a9b61ff914

Pretty fun balance. Wanted to show Jeran some new and cool sets such as the pins mag and cm bliss.

W4: https://pokepast.es/057b7f4dd739896a

We don't talk about this game.
Nah, jk, it was really fun building this and I think the team turned out really good. Has some not great matchups but that's as good as you can manage with Stall in MnM.

W5: https://pokepast.es/dd8defa831fe8f60

Against Joe's stuff, I just thought a cool voltturn core, which Jeran had also shown proficiency in, was gonna give us a good enough ground to work with. So I dug up an old voltturn team with ditto and tini and updated it. Gave my teammate a 5 mon team along with some suggestions and he finished it to his liking.

W6: https://pokepast.es/1a7168610f1ed301

Bringing back Noivern was an idea I had been having for a while now, it's a pretty decent counterlead for a lot of stuff, team ended up coming out as a weird semistall. Looking back not having a setup sweeper and replacing smack down on don was really detrimental, but I still think it's alright if fixed up.

W7: https://pokepast.es/959b9fc2a12f7818

I had no idea what to expect from Zesty aside from a great CT, which forced me to go into a different archetype. Webs BO was something I'd never seen before in my, still short, mons history, so I had a lot of doubts after building it. Turned out great in game vs Zesty's psyspam.

The team in the paste isn't the same as the one Jeran used in his game, it is, in my opinion, a slightly better version. However since Zesty was so unpredicatble we needed countermeasures for fat setup and simply more options, so we ended up going with Perishtrap Groundceus over Cobalion.

AAA Stuff

W6: Passed Sab a Fardin team which was public for while but meh, not on me to post it. I also built 2 other teams for them to choose https://pokepast.es/9b9cd5c09be408b0 and https://pokepast.es/33b316de120eeaa1.

W7: https://pokepast.es/0a6ce9906970c14b

Sabella gave me some guidelines with what he wanted to work with, ended up pretty happy with the result.

Might as well post this here too: https://pokepast.es/0a870bdb8fc98267
It was a meme team when Sabella came up with Merciless Lucario. Passed the tests but ended up not seeing use.

Jeran died last few weeks so I had to build for AAA too, which worked out alright, I just needed to get some solid teams going and Sabella would surely take the Ws which they did.

Conclusion stuff

In the end was really really fun regaining my confidence in building, even if at the cost of my losses. Anyway, I might as well do some short
Akashi for being an amazing player, fellow bliss lover, and a fucking goat.

DEG & sed for drafting the best team this ompl. We took some time steaming up in the first few weeks and then things didn't go our way by the end when we had already picked up the pace.

The AG squad Hunter, Donno, Ezy and Thimo, for helping out with tests when needed. I also lurked a lot in your channel, getting ideas and just learning new ways to think and go about building, which was pretty cool.

All the other Metro Boomin Mega Rays Sabella, morogrim, aki0s, Joker 1v1, Betathunder and Shiba for being awesome people and great players, even if some runs were unlucky. Glad to have known some of you better.

The whole MnM Discord, ain't gonna tag you all or I'd never finish this post, you know who y'all are. And even though we disagree in A LOT of shit, I still appreciate you and the community we have. And of course our late night voice calls. Speaking of which, I have a 2 hour long recording of one of these on my pc xD.

Banned deucer.

Did not like how I performed yet again, however I still managed to enjoy myself regardless.... Was definetely a fun ride being a part of the Hydreigons this year and am proud that we made it as far as we did thanks to our lovely (and quite sexy may I add) manager in Chloe alongside other teammembers who made this tournament really fun and enjoyable. Here are the 2 teams I had used while I played during the first 2 weeks:

Week 1: vs Bushtush
===================

So this is the team I had planned to use W1 vs Bush given how I knew he was not too well versed in the metagame but still had general tournament knowledge and would be provided solid teams from his teammates regardless. Therefore, I decided to go with a more "safe" pick consisting of the potent combination of Sub + Setup Zygarde with Tspikes support. I had build this team previously and made a couple of adjustments such as switching Toxapex for WA Nihilego to better handle a potential CM Tapu Fini from my opponent while placing my own CM Fini on the team to counteract a potential stall. I should have better prepped for Noivern however with this team while Mag was still gonna be a pain since my only Volt Switch blocker got smacked hard by Fleur. Losing my Mew early on definitely hurt me while other questionable plays had been made by both sides throughout the match, I definitely felt I had the edge from team preview and should have pulled through with the win at the end, especially since I knew his team as its the same one Glyx has been spamming for a year now.

I also made a vid about this game so don't forget to check out the rest of my vids and subscribe as well
[

Week 2: vs Tzop
===================

Going off of W1's loss I definitely wanted to prep some more. This week, me and Aesf had crafted this bulky offensive team consisting of the wallbreaking core of Magearna + Landorus-T to beat out any defensive style that Tzop may decide to bring. The Mag set in particular was the highlight of the team, utilizing Mag's great bulk to setup the double setup and then proceed to sweep with BoltBeam coverage + Metronome power increase while not being scared of potential counterplay from the likes of Taunt Fini and Whirlwhind Skarm thanks to Magic Bounce. The rest of the team is pretty straightforward, although it can lose to any smart Vern + MagPull teams. Its p cool to note how we were able to fit 3 Ultra Beasts on the team as well. Again, I felt I had the game from team preview and felt I was making the right plays at the beginning, but then began chocking near the end as I always do especially when sacking my Celest. Him bringing Gravity Lando was ironic as well as I planned to wreck his team with my own Gravity Lando rip.

Other Teams I planned to use:
https://pokepast.es/45053edb7f44e92f
Fun team I built after Zeraora's release. Grassy Surge Fini is the next wave tho.

https://pokepast.es/6134938824d060de
My rendition of Screens Offense. Simple, setup screens, setup and win (well technically you should unless you dont choke hard on some big d***)

This was a fun OMPL to say the least which is cool as I usually tend to shy away from team tournaments in general. Gratz to the Honchrows for thee win and until next time....

Luckily I only played two matches so I didn't have enough time to embarrass myself too much, but here's my stuff:
I wasn't really doing much constructively for the opening weeks, highlighter made all his teams almost entirely independently and just looked over them and suggested small changes as well as losing a lot in test battles.

This was my first week actually playing and I was fairly sure I'd get benched again if I lost so I kinda was a bit stressed about it.

Teambuilding:
For some reason I deleted my drafts but they started out as something like this:
Bring_a_ttar_check.png

Blame Quantum Tesseract for light mode discord, he bullied me into it :[

So I knew MAMP liked ttar as a wall breaker and I knew a lot of my teams in the past have been very weak to dark, which made me fairly confident he'd use it. Ho-oh is also a cool mon which checks a lot of things in general and especially with LO gives an offensive presence which is really easy to underestimate. Also I was really fortunate here that I didn't use Toxic Orb (an idea I flirted with 20 mins before the match) since he brought Purify pex.

I then half jokingly threw together this team, the main ideas being the Ho-oh set and Pixilate mmx which threatens imposter more than Refridgerate (another thing I was certain MAMP would bring) as well as being able to threaten the faster threats that MAMP likes such as Pheromosa and threatening standard defensive cores really well as well as being improofed by the Ho-oh. I maintain the subseed ray is a good set but alas this was not its time to shine.
Thankfully highligher was there to tell me half the sets were trash so I basically abandoned this but salvaged the core ideas.

My next draft looked a lot more like a serious team but it still left something to be desired and I was quickly convinced that Regigigas was a poor choice. The team was weak to ray and lacking anything much to improof Ho-oh so I added a Fur Coat Dialga to do this, and after discussing sets with GL Volkner I settled on one that could set rocks without being troubled by imposter.
After this change and a few small tweaks after last minute testing with aki0s the team was ready.
https://pokepast.es/94388fedb86d99a0
And of course the nicknames were an invaluable addition.

The game itself was very close but with a few lucky sleep turns early on I managed to pull through despite a dicey midgame.

Imagine my dismay when, after a close shave with the winner of the esteemed First BH Open, TI puts me to play again against the unbelievably cute winner of the Second BH Open. I was on holiday for the beginning of this week so I decided the optimal strategy was to john and in true OMPL spirit play at the last possible time.

This team I only had one draft of (which was tweaked a little). The main idea was to abuse the weakness to setup that was apparent in all of Jasp's earlier teams. I toyed with the idea of bringing meme HO but I was too cowardly to commit so I brought some standard balance stuff with a shell smash MMX in true mid ladder style.

https://pokepast.es/d0d638cefe06bb59

The mmx was to sweep, aegi to imrpoof, ttar to help with opposing aegi and as a counter measure against shedinja and gengar (which he had brought previously). The Gengar was in the hope that he would bring a soft Normalize check such as regenvest Dialga or Pogre which could be chipped with Pursuit and crippled with knock off so the point that they lose to qd mgar. Sadly this didn't work out as planned but not everything can *shrug*. Rest of the team just to fill defensive holes. Overall the matchup was alright verging on good but I made a few key mistakes and Jasp played really solidly throughout as he always does.

Thanks to morogrim for testing with me and sorry for losing and killing your team's Playoffs chances :[

Sylveon.

Penny saved is still a fucking penny
Hi everyone, I'll just do a quick dump here of everything relevant we built for AAA. Also there'll be a small s/o sections below this :

Aight :
Week 1 : v/s Adrian Marin
https://pokepast.es/5dd4b8ed22e90861
This week frankly I kind of tried to hard CT stall, since Adrian is known for his good stall building skills, not a good idea just saying. Anyways the team actually has some really cool sets in general like Banded aerialate lando is quite unused and is actually an amazing set, 2hkoing various stuff like zapdos after a bit of chip, also basically for me the my favorite set of the tour Adapt Specs Mag which is again obviously just way too powerful to consistently ward off, basic example is its ability to 2hko standard chansey with fleur. Anyways wouldn't recommend this team for general purpose, but just in case you want to CT some stall, it'll give you your victory.

Week 2 : v/s Lax
https://pokepast.es/1556b5f219f1344d
So this week's team is actually much more balanced. Basically built around the uncommon yet quite dangerous offensive core of Steelworker Celesteela + Sheer Force Victini, both basically sniping each others switch-ins by the virtue of sheer coverage and unpredictability. Other than that we have curse lax utilising the wall breaking potential of both the above mons along with providing defensive utility as always. Next up for speed control we have Triage buzz with an interesting tech of z-bounce for other triage users and Scarf FF lando providing good defensive utility as well as killing fast stuff like naga, koko for the team and is basically rounded off by the evergreen mew as a defensive pivot.

Week 3: v/s Coasts
https://pokepast.es/61bb0c756f763023
This week I was a tad bit worried since coasts had a tendency of bringing unusual stuff, so I went for the safe and trusted play, basically an unwallable wall breaker in tinted bulu under terrain, stuff like Groundium z zyg. basically giving me a swift kill on steels which dared to stay in. Again aided by a a speed control mon + late game sweeper in Naganedal. And just supporting it with a core built out of immunity and tying of Doublade + Flash Fire Magearna(Instead of t-wave, TR is an possibility too) + Fini.

Week 4: v/s Shiba
https://pokepast.es/89abcebc61402ce4
Okay this week I was actually quite uninspired due to work stuff, so this is a quite solid team Jrdn passed me surrounding the core of Tail Glow adapt manaphy(which works really well, because people dont expect it to be so powerful) + Specs Mind Blown blace which well, takes lives, achieving obscene shit like 2hkoing Alolan Muk which is quite a feat frankly). Other than that the defensive core just works - a bulky core of buzz+ celesteela + tyranitar each with a immunity ability and an extremely fast scarfer in koko.

Week 6: v/s Consort
https://pokepast.es/cd10f51ee9ccaace
Okay this one is actually my favorite team of whole tour, and is still undefeated actually. So the idea was to build a team which had immaculate synergy. Basic idea was to build around a seriously underrated set in pixilate bulu, since any resident AAA player's first choice is go to his Buzzwole when they see a bulu, and combine that with couple of knock offs + a magpull. Simple right!! Then I thought why not just multiply my win-cons while providing solid defensive utility using curse Ferro. Rest is basically me stuffing in a defensive core which is mildly threatening themselves due to coverage and helping out the offensive core like mew carrying overheat for doublade and what not so that bulu could sweep.

Week 7: v/s Kimbo
https://pokepast.es/e0a1b476f30b6ad4
BIG HUSTLE BOIZ. Anyways, we both wanted to make a team around some hustle mon in general, seeing how amazing the calcs they hit. So basic idea was that Talonflame needed some super strong breaker to help it so that it could clean up, and hence came Hustle zygarde, which just feeds on teams trying to check mons with bulky waters/unawares. Trace Victini is a super cool set I got from Aesf which basically solves issues against most terrain teams and what not. So the rest of the defensive core consists of good mons Hippo as a general physical sponge, fini as defogger and the super dirty prankster Chansey, which basically has 1 task prankster t wave everything for zygarde.
I'll do a big hustle post later to hype the unused ability in general.

Semis: v/s Aesf
g2 : https://pokepast.es/dbc85eb4e46c62e7
Here I'll just post the good winning team against aesf , since I dont feel the others are good enough for sharing.
Well this was all Jrdn, he basically made the tam around half an hour ago or something before the game, so lets start on Mag on this team, the set in general. While echoed voice might seem a meme if you think about it, and might not do much against offensive teams but if played well it can outright sweep bulkier teams. With metronome echoed voice hits absurd damage rolls - 52 , 120 , 204 .. . While the rest of the team is a quick fix to stuff like fires etc which might cause an issue, but the set is quite ingenious. I am telling you guys Offensive Magearna is the future of AAA, better get on the wagonwheel :D

Shout-Outs

  • Jrdn : I just love how even as manager you are so successful from the first time itself. It was an amazing experience to be in the same team for once, and I am obviously glad that it worked out pretty well. It was super fun to build like 10 teams each week lol, then be confused to what to use out of them. Ya now that I think about it, 7-0 was actually jrdn+geerat, not only geerat.

  • Snaquaza : This OMPL has been amazing in another way too, that I got to know so many chill people. I just love your excitement in building around w/e that comes to your mind and am super glad that you got your interest back in the tour considering it wouldn't obviously be same w/o you.
  • AAA : Plas : the biggest hype-master there can be, not to say winning in the finals w/o prep wooo boy.
  • MnM : Andyboy - While I like you less now that you don't have 500 in your nick, but you are a fucking revelation man, I am so glad to have known you throughout the tour, and even more delighted at the current set of MnM players. You guys make me want to play MnM again. :D
  • BH : MAMP , What a champ man, you and Pikachuun single handedly gave us so much BH wins and even more importantly , your matches were so fun to watch because half the time even we BH noobs didnt know what heat you were gonna bring. Not to Pikachuun gets one of the best chat presences of all time. You guys were super fun.
  • AG : Catalystic fucking goat man, what a comeback from midway tour. You were so invaluable lol, like giving tests for each meta, dumping teams whenever we needed them, just amazing. 10/10 team-mate. Holy Break Again similar to Cata, you just did a full U-turn midway tour, giving us clutch games week after week. Other than that you are basically one of those people who you just have to love. Stay a bitch man :]. Also Terracotta was unfortunate that you had to be absent from the later part of the tour, but you put in great effort in earlier weeks. mags bro just keep gassing people man, also dont post suns -_-
  • 1v1: MaceMaster TheShadowClaw UBERLandon21 Legit the most broken core ever, you guys didnt speak much, but when it came to playing, just gave us week after week. True goats.
  • Also the whole old AAA crew - aesf and motherlove I know you guys have probly grown old playing AAA and what not, but still are so good, gave me countless tests through-out the tour and aesf obviously gave me the best series of the whole tour for me. Also Klang whose stall somehow won us the game even after an year :|.
  • Leru - For just being awesome in general, and helping us out a ton after your team got out. Basically a honchkrow.
  • ScarfWynaut - Bc SW IS THE BEST FUCKING AUTH. SAY NO AND I'LL FIGHT
  • Also at last a general s/o to everyone involved for making it a fun tour overall from E4 Flint to every team/player who has performed well or just have been a good presence. (Specially the Kois)
Also if I forget someone, just remember I am drinking on a Monday night.

Was a lot of fun y'all, here's the stuff I used this season

Week 1 - vs Zenithial (L)

Import: https://pokepast.es/085ca8de754c505b

I had a lot of different ideas floating around for using vs Zenithial but most of them involved taking advantage of his reliance on Primal Groudon as his answer to Primal Kyogre. I originally floated around the idea of Defensive CM Rest POgre but when building that proved troublesome Purple passed me this team of his. Pretty basic team, Mixed POgre breaks past every POgre check besides Ferrothorn which Mega Gengar is able to trap. Zygarde Fairyceus and PDon form the defensive backbone, Steelceus is kind of filler but acts as a flying resist and can take advantage of POgre's ability to lure PDon (Thunder and Earth Power both work but I liked the luring potential vs Ho-Oh). I think the team worked really well, an unfortunate Toxic miss cost me a lot of momentum and the game ended up coming down to 50/50s but this was an extremely well played set by Zenithial especially given that matchup was in my favour.

Week 2 - vs HunterStorm (W)
(g1)
(g2)
(g3)

Imports: https://pokepast.es/7eca907f3c7b476b
https://pokepast.es/6b27d83e7c2839a1
https://pokepast.es/8f4cabfe51d04b15

Alright I'll be honest, I don't think any of these were particularly good teams so I won't go into much detail. First team was meant to take advantage of Hunter's balances which typically lack a Yveltal resist outside of Fairyceus while Quagsire did awesome vs many of his offensive teams. Unfortunately he brought hard stall and there was jack I could've done to win the matchup. Second team was also more oriented towards breaking balance because MMY kinda just clicks attacks and wins vs MGar teams while TSpikes prevent support Arceus forms from sticking around. Again Hunter brought fat which also perfectly countered my two hazard setters so the matchup was effectively unwinnable, I had to resort to fishing for a freeze on his Fairyceus that I did get, I had no chance of winning otherwise. Third team was based on something Holy Break had used against me in winter ssnl, I knew Hunter was not a fan of Primal Groudon so tended to be really weak to Specs Kyogre. While it ended up being a good matchup call when Hunter brought fat once again, Scarf Ho-Oh caught me off guard and crippled my ability to simply delete things with Water Spout, resulting in a drawn-out game where hax (specifically freezes) once again was a major ally for me. Honestly this whole series was terrible and I wish I could forget it.

Week 3 - vs bdov (W)

Import: https://pokepast.es/0f4a5475705f0633

This is one of my favourite teams I built this OMPL. I knew bdov was capable of bringing some wild shit, so I wanted to bring something with strong matchups all across the board. HO seemed like a good choice because it would allow me to dictate the pace of the game and hopefully prevent her from executing any weird strategies she brought. The build is a pretty generic Excadrill HO, defensive Fairyceus seems like a weird choice for a HO team but the relative lack of immediate power it brings is offset by the fact that it checks some of the most threatening Pokemon to offensive teams like Marshadow, DD Zygarde and Scarf Rayquaza. The rest of the team is just solid breakers that synergize in terms of what they threaten, what they're threatened by and what they can pivot into. The result of bdov and I's game ended up making no difference in the result for the week but the team worked great and I felt like I was totally in control of the match. Purple also used this team very successfully against ham in week 4.

Week 4 - Mysterious M (L)

Import: https://pokepast.es/75898886864c00b9

Probably the best team I had a hand in making this year, Purple and I co-built this during week 2 or something and both of us (and Catalystic) brought it in subsequent weeks. POgre and Ho-Oh have great synergy together, POgre pivots into Rockceus and defensive Zygarde which would check Ho-Oh while Ho-Oh pivots into Ferrothorn and defensive PDon, both are extremely threatening on their own as well. The durability of both breakers makes this team very good at sustaining pressure even against bulkier teams and also gives those breakers utility against offense. Defensive CM Rest POgre is great because it preserves the benefits of regular CM Rest POgre while also being much more useful against offense, Scald burns also let it neuter its greatest check in Ferrothorn. Band Ho-Oh is just a bitch to prep for and nearly impossible to switch into. Scarf MRay compliments these two by providing a strong anti-offensive mon and the remainder of the team fills in defensive gaps and provides hazard support. The team worked well in my game vs M but due to a misplay on my part I had to rely on him not being able to get a double protect, which he did unfortunately. The team's strength really came through in Purple and Catalystic's games where they used it (both won).

Finals - Catalystic (L)

Same team as week 3. Because I'd been on a 4 week hiatus and only had 1 day to prep for this, I figured recycling teams was my best option. I knew Catalystic tended to build teams that were less suited to fighting hyper offense and I felt very comfortable with this team in particular so I decided it was my best shot. I definitely made the right call in terms of team matchup but definitely could've played this better. I felt like the turn 1 burn really put me on an initial back foot while a misplay on my end let Cata get rid of rocks for free which greatly reduced the amount of pressure I could put on, I was able to bring it back to a scenario where the game was decided by a speed tie which unfortunately I ended up losing.

Shoutouts PurpleGatorade Catalystic and Zesty43 for being my main test and building partners through this whole thing and additional shoutouts to everyone else who helped me test along the way.

The AG teams that brought me so much success:

https://pokepast.es/aeb1767c335be34c
I remember the main idea of this team was the Mega Gengar Marshadow core, which pressures teams that rely on Arceus-Fairy to check Marshadow. Hidden Power Ice was a tech that worked extremely well, threatening to trap Zygarde-Complete as it could catch it on the 2HKO. Removing Zygarde is a great bonus for this team as it allows Ho-Oh and Marshadow to do so much more. While I did get some luck this game, I feel the series of coinflips was going to happen regardless, and well in the end the team did its job and worked to perfection as Mega Gengar proved very threatening for Zygarde, allowing Marshadow to take out most of his team. Not running Sludge Wave was pretty mad that was a last minute decision as there was no stall answer in this team, Focus Blast ended up putting in no work and risked not being able to kill Arceus-Fairy, but well it worked just about.

G1 https://pokepast.es/2003094e533c8177
I remember I really wanted to utilize Naganadel for this series, as I feel it is such a threat for most balances and some variants of stall. I remember after the game I rechecked the team and realised I forgot to put Mold Breaker on Exca which was rather embarrassing, changed the team and made it Mold Breaker again as that's what it's supposed to be. Dragon Dance Mega Rayquaza also keeps a lot of pressure on and utilizes rocks very efficiently, this along with Naganadel was definitely the wincon against stall. Mixed Rock Polish Pdon i wanted to use to threaten Giratina and Rayquaza, which are favourite of Fardin's to use. Calm Mind Poisonceus i wanted to use to try and not to be too Marshadow weak and also as a surprise factor, I think Calm Mind Poisonceus is rarely used and is a little underrated due to 4MSS, but when you get it right it can work well. Finally, Toxic LO Yveltal proved essential for this game, being able to toxic and pressure both Zygarde and Arceus-Dark.

G2 https://pokepast.es/178853be5d107941
This team attempts to utilize the Gothitelle/Marshadow core, being able to pressure a lot of more passive teams. Dragon Dance Mega Rayquaza could also be used to set up after Gothitelle has trapped a Pokemon and is taunt/using struggle. Unfortunately, this team got overwhelmed by the offensive team that Fardin built and had to accept defeat this game.

G3 https://pokepast.es/9d69620d17a90b9f
This team proved awful to use in testing, but I feel it would really work for this series and it did in superb fashion. Specs Kyogre is able to break pretty much all Chansey/Blissey stalls, and I wanted to use Magearna in case Fardin used a Thimo-esque team in eeveepass or Vivillon. Lugia proves as the Mega Rayquaza check, and Giratina/Groundceus as the strong defog core to support Lugia.

https://pokepast.es/cc8d79cd09bc6c8a
Choice Specs Lunala was really something I wanted to use against Holy Break, feeling with Shadow Shield it can take hits and respond back with very damaging blows with Moongeist Beam. Choice scarfed Xerneas proved to be a very helpful partner to Lunala, being able to switch in and threaten Yveltal, Marshadow and Arceus-Dark. Calm Mind Arceus-Steel was also a Pokemon I wanted to use to help the Yveltal match up, and proved very useful as a switch in to choice scarfed Xerneas and switching effectively into Extreme Speed to win the game. Defensive Yveltal acted as the main Groundceus and Marshadow switch in, and also was the sole defogger of the team, which is important to keep shadow shield intact for Lunala and to protect the flying types of Yveltal and Mega Rayquaza. I opted for Choice Banded Mega Rayquaza, as I felt I needed something that could hit physically hard that would pair up well with Lunala, as well as not taking any chip damage from items such as Life Orb helped keep its longevity.

G1: https://pokepast.es/9d7aa230cc566c25
I opted to use my RMT game 1 which may come as a surprise, I felt as Charmflash was a new player that hadn't played AG much that I just needed to bring something solid as I wasn't too sure what to expect. Fortunately, it was able pressure Charmflash considerable and managed to 6-0 this game.

G2: https://pokepast.es/7ad5fb93057d15e9
This game I decided to use one of Skarpherim's teams, and well honestly I find if I don't use my own teams I end up not doing very well. Due to Charmflash having waterfall on Mega Rayquaza, it meant it broke ttar and from there it was hard to find switch ins to Mega Rayquaza and couldn't keep the team together. The Mega Sableye + Pogre core can work well in general, pressuring Ferrothorn teams a lot but just didn't work out well for me here.

G3: https://pokepast.es/c2d12bd6f364bace
This game utilizes the idea of Perish trapping Mega Gengar, which can prove very effective as it helps Calm Mind Darkceus and Ultra Necrozma do serious damage due to being able to trap Arceus-Fairy and Arceus-Dark. This particular game Gengar wasn't able to do anything due to Charmflash using Tyranitar, however Zygarde and Primal Groudon were able to set rocks and pressure a ton due to the nature of their Tyranitar build, and Ultra Necrozma was finally able to sweep at the end of the game.

https://pokepast.es/83bd44ebddc03e66
I was generally very happy with this team, except for the fact that Perish Song Arceus-Poison was less of a Vivillon check than I had originally thought, and that using choice scarf Marshadow was a mind blank in building on my part. I had originally built this team with Skarpherim for ladder a while back before OMPL had even began, and I thought this team could do really well against EzyRider and as it covered a lot of things and was a solid team overall. The original team had life orb Marshadow, which is a much better option as choicr scarf just does not fit on this team. While I did take the L this week, I still like this team and just have to accept that Vivillon is OP and that EzyRider played well. As for the team itself, choice banded Rayquaza was meant to be the main stall breaker of this team as nothing else hits that hard, and again not taking any chip from life orb while being able to hit extremely hard is very nice for longevity. Arceus-Dark helps a ton with Ultra Necrozma and Dusk Mane, as well as being able to Defog reasonably efficiently. Marshadow was able to revenge with Shadow Sneak if Dusk Mane was able to get the double dance off of Arceus-Dark and unleashed the Z move. Stealth Rock Arceus-Fairy seemed like a solid option due to no regular rockers on the team such as Primal Groudon and Dusk Mane, and wisp is simply used to help pressure Dusk Mane further. Marshadow acts as the main revenge killer and Ekiller check, I think this team kind of struggles to Substitute Ekiller due to its reliance on Marshadow and Will-O-Wisp Arceus-Fairy to deal with it, but I think it can be kind of played around but may take some damage in the process. Arceus-Poison is the main Xerneas check and secondary Marshadow check if Arceus-Fairy drops, Earth Power is needed on this set to help the Mega Gengar match up as it also traps Arceus-Fairy. Finally, Primal Kyogre was the primary Calm Mind Arceus-Ground switch in and can switch in to Primal Kyogre to a certain extent. This Primal Kyogre has Thunder to help deal with defensive Primal Kyogre's that have no moves to break through another Primal Kyogre, and usually only offensive Primal Kyogre uses Thunder, which means Mega Rayquaza can pressure it a ton, or Poisonceus and Marshadow to some extent.

G1: https://pokepast.es/7c0496578f297310
I rarely use Psychic based teams, but I felt it would really work against Arushi due to her reliance on Arceus-Poison, Skarmory and Arceus-Dark, which with coverage Deoxys-A and Ultra Necrozma can break through. While Arushi didn't end up bringing any of those things, it still worked very well and I think the surprise factor was my greatest advantage here. The aim of this team is simple; set up sticky web with Slurpuff, Stealth Rock with Deoxys-A and then play aggressively and take advantage of psychic terrain with nasty plot Deoxys-A, Ultra Necrozma and Dragon Dance Mega Rayquaza. I chose slurpuff as the main web setter as I feel Mega Gengar is really the only pokemon that can threaten slurpuff, and well if they bring Mega Gengar usually you already have the match up as they won't be capable of dealing with psychic based teams most of the time. Dragon Dance Mega Rayquaza I also really wanted to utilize as it wouldn't be able to be revenged by priority due to Psychic terrain, which increases its sweeping potential dramatically. Draco Meteor was used on this Dragon Dance set over Extreme Speed, as due to terrain Extreme Speed is redundant and Draco Meteor is able to hit threats such as Zygarde and Giratina.

G2: https://pokepast.es/19403b89835c08a1
In hindsight this team honestly is probably the worst team I used in all of OMPL and really was meant to Cteam some of the pokemon Arushi likes to use. Calm Mind Groundceus and Mixed Primal Groudon I wanted to use in particular to pressure Zygarde builds which Arushi likes to use. Calm Mind Roar Flyingceus I wanted to use as an emergency check to Vivillon in case it came in and swept, and also to surprise other Calm Mind Arceus-Formes that may wish to try and set up on Flyingceus. Dragon Dance Mega Rayquaza is the sole physical set up sweeper, alongside the Excadrill which can set up Stealth Rock to help pressure their team sufficiently. Luckily, Mixed Primal Groudon was able to sweep late game after an unfortunate crit on Primal Kyogre which helped seal the game.

G1: https://pokepast.es/8ddc438ab3b096a2
Unfortunately, as Pigeons mentioned earlier the main reason I rely on Primal Groudon a lot is because the one time I bring Ferrothorn the opponent brings Water Spout Primal Kyogre, which just blasts through Ferrothorn as if it was made of paper. Due to this the match was pretty much lost on MU straight away, but I liked the main idea of this team. Mega Gengar is used to trap Arceus-Fairy to help Calm Mind Arceus-Dark out a ton, and also with icy wind is able to attempt to deal with Dragon Dance Zygarde which this team has a glaring weakness to. Whirlpool Perish Song Arceus-Dark is used trap and kill anything else that may attempt to block Calm Mind Arceus-Dark from sweeping. This includes other Perish Song Arceus-Formes and Chansey. Ferrothorn acts as the Pogre 'check', and Arceus-Poison plays an important role of checking Xerneas and Marshadow. Zygarde attempts to hold the team together with its huge physical bulk, switching to Swords Dance Arceus-Ground, Ho-Oh, Primal Groudon and Dragon Dance Mega Rayquaza.

G2 & G3: https://pokepast.es/dca2c25a18614935
This is a reasonably standard and effective hyper offense that worked very well against DSMP. Geomancy Xerneas was something that I felt could pressure DSMP a ton, especially when paired with Heat Wave Yveltal. The idea of this core was to be able to deal with Magearna, as once it has been exposed and damaged by Heat Wave, it allows Xerneas to set up Geomancy and be able to sweep as Magearna would not be able to function as a check due to it being chipped before hand by Heat Wave. Deoxys-Speed with Magic Coat proved essenital, stopping Deoxys-Speed from setting hazards and allowing me to set up my own Stealth Rock. Calm Mind Roar Arceus-Steel I used again because of my phobia of Vivillon after losing to it in Week 5, it also proves effective against other Calm Mind Arceus-Formes. Calm Mind Ultra Necrozma was also something that I noticed DSMP did not prepare for at all, and game 2 it proved very effective and pretty much swept by itself. I opted for Power Gem for Dragon Pulse as I felt hitting Yveltal and Ho-Oh was more important than Arceus-Dark and Mega Sableye in this match up, due to Yveltal and Xerneas pressuring Arceus-Dark a ton and Mega Sableye being a rare Pokemon for DSMP to use. I also chose to use Choice Band on this team as a way to break stall, as honestly banded Mega Rayquaza just hits incredibly hard.

G1: https://pokepast.es/cbf919742fce43c4
This team was honestly pretty ordinary, and again I wanted to exploit scarfed Mega Rayquaza against HB like I had done efficiently in SSNL. Toxic on Marshadow is really useful to help cripple support Arceus-Formes that scarfed Mega Rayquaza would struggle to break through, and I thought this core would be fantastic against offense which HB likes to use. Arceus-Fairy simply acts as a glue Pokemon on this team, being the sole defogger and being support for threats such as Yveltal and Marshadow. The member of the team that however I ended up sealing the victory, was Calm Mind Arceus-Ground. I suspected this Pokemon could put in quite a lot of work, and well with a bit of luck it secured the 6-0. Mixed Primal Groudon I wanted to use to pressure opposing Arceus-Ground, which can be reasonably threatening for this team after both the Arceus-formes have been chipped and crippled sufficiently. Finally, Support Dusk Mane completes the team by acting as a very solid Xerneas check, being able to cripple support Arceus-Ground and Arceus-Water. The only issues with this team is that it has absolutely no answer to Ho-Oh, I mainly banked on the fact that Holy Break wouldn't bring Ho-Oh in this series, due to the fact that I had rarely seen Holy Break use Ho-Oh, and had I been prepping for myself I doubt I would have brought Ho-Oh either.

G2: https://pokepast.es/43dfde0e55c6de2b
This was arguably my favourite team I used in all of OMPL. Webs had been a playstyle I had not exploited in all of OMPL yet, and it was something I definitely wanted to use. I expected Holy Break to bring some form of offense, for which webs was a very nice counter for. Off the bat babiri berry Shuckle was something I really wanted to use against Holy Break, as I was aware that he liked to use Dusk Mane and smack shuckle with the Z move straight way. As almost everyone expects mental herb, it makes taunt less likely of an option to use against shuckle and to simply be hit with offensive moves. Had I see Mega Gengar, I may have not led shuckle and most likely Primal Groudon instead just in case and bring in shuckle later on in the game. Swords Dance Mega Rayquaza is an amazing partner with Sticky web, with Dragon Ascent at +2 doing absolutely huge amounts of damage. Ekiller was something I also wanted to exploit against Holy Break, and wanted to use it particularly with sticky web as it meant I could still keep the extra damage of life orb while still being able to outspeed and OHKO Marshadow with Earthquake at +2. Ekiller is something I rarely use as well so I thought the surprise factor may be able to give me the edge late game. Eruption Primal Groudon needs no introduction, dealing absolutely huge amounts of damage with its base 150 damage at full HP. This set aimed to have as much coverage as possible, making it extremely hard to deal with as its only real check was Arceus-Water. Rock Tomb hits Ho-Oh, HP ice Zygarde and Precipice blades Primal Kyogre, making it extremely hard to switch in to. Lunala was something I again wanted to use against Holy Break, despite the fact that it had been not very effective the first time I had used it before and the fact that Holy Break scouted one of my ubers games and saw I used Lunala, and well, 'took notes'. Calm Mind into its Z Move hits like a truck, being able to OHKO support Arceus-formes at +1 that do not resist moongeist nor have any SpD investment. The coverage it does have is all it needs, with ice beam hitting Yveltal and Focus Blast being able to hit Arceus-Normal and Arceus-Dark. Lastly, Yveltal wrapped up the team perfectly, being able to use taunt to prevent Defog and using Dark Pulse and Oblivion Wing to be able to pressure a ton. This made a great partner with Lunala, as it was a very nice Marshadow switch in had it tried to revenge Lunala with priority. I had initial worries that had Sticky Web come off Marshadow would really threaten the team, which actually did happen, luckily for me I was able to get sufficient chip off of Yveltal's sucker punch and the fact that Holy Break had no switch in to Primal Groudon really and was almost forced to use the Z move.

Honestly I would just like to say a massive thanks to the people that helped my test, thanks Chloe, Skarpherim, GRNBLN and Loti, you guys are all awesome and I don't think my teams would have been quite as good without you guys. This was all a great experience, I'm really glad I got to play.

Thoroughly enjoyed this OMPL with my fellow Honchkrow boys and MnM pals. It's no secret that i'm not the best builder in MnM so there is absolutely no promise of fantastic quality to be found in these teams. However, I do think I came up with some good ones and I also had some help some of the later weeks so most of these should be aight. I tend to ramble a bit on things like this so take the paragraph descriptions accompanying the imports or leave em.

Ft. Jrdn, Catalystic and Terracotta

Some unorthodox balance built around SD Z Ghostceus with a cool tech in Gyara Amoonguss checking both mono ground move Luc Zygarde and CM Lunala with the poison into dark type lure. I'm not particularly confident in this squad being solid in every match up as pokemon like LO heat wave Yveltal, Kartana, CM Groundceus and Terrakion can tear through it and the speed control is honestly pretty bad. However, it does an excellent job walling out pretty much every variant of P-don and SD Ghostceus is something no one will see coming in the current era of MnM.

Ft. Catalystic and geerat

I'm a pretty big fan of this one. More balance built around a very underrated offensive rocker in Mamoswine paired with Sabledos and Support Fairyceus to create a really nice starting core. I then centered the second half of the team around SD Rest Pdon coupled with heal bell Pins Mage. Last of all I threw on the unset of lonely HP fire Alt Zygarde to serve as a emergency Kartana check, to lure and weaken annoying Buzzwoles for Mamoswine, and for a solid revenger for Darkrai and general speed control overall. I originally had stone edge Pdon at the request of Badalystic but just watch my W2 replay to see why that doesn't pan out well for this team.

Ft. Jrdn

This team is um... fun? Not as much of a fan of this one but it does have some cool stuff with SR fairyceus, more rest + cleric support and does a pretty good job supporting Kartana for what it is. The idea was to build around a jank sweeper Stresh had introduced me to in sub Luc Kartana. The rest of the team is centered around mons that can handle the pokemon that hard wall Kartana's awful grass/steel dual stabs. So Skarm for Ho-oh, Blissey for Lunala if it has its multiscale intact, etc. The team seemed Blissey weak and Jrdn and I were feeling spicy so we cooked up curse drill peck spikes skarm which can force out blissey if it curses enough and actually straight win games in some really silly scenarios. However, Zapdos and Perishceus are really annoying... and my opponent brought both. The biggest issue with this team is without whirlwind skarmory, it loses to SD DM... Which my opponent also brought :[. Changing skarm's spikes to whirlwind and arceus-fairy from toxic to will-o would help with that MU.

Ft. M'joe'ra

We definitely do not talk about this game... I believe I originally had this team centered around Luc Terrak + CM Fairyceus. I knew I wanted to use offense but was struggling to find a good Entei check. My struggle came to an end when I came to the realization that Lati Pex is actually... pretty good on offense. Sounds silly but Pex torments a lot of pokemon that normally give offense a hard time and improofs +2 SD Pdon brilliantly. At this time the MnM playerbase was quickly learning just how good Sable Mandibuzz was so I wanted to give that a try. The original build I completed was pretty bad. But my buddy Joe was kind enough to look over it for me and fill in some of the holes. This team has no atespeed which is a little scary at times but the speed control with Diancite Terrakion + fast CM Groundy can provide some very neat lures if utilized properly.

https://pokepast.es/17460a01c79f38d6

Jost some Andy webs, nothing new. This team has a few of the traditional pokemon you would expect on MnM HO such as Erupdon and Sub CM Lunala. But I wanted to bring some cool new things to the table with Pins Genesect to refuse to yield ground to pokemon like Volcarona that can 6-0 a lot of HO builds. Diancite darkrai is a mon I think is really cool on webs rn in that it provides excellent speed control in the event that webs are not present and outspeeds and revenges ditto'd lunala and P-don as i'm no bulk -sp def natured. There were some excellent ideas put into this webs but unfortunately the ability to simply revenge a ditto'd mon doesn't fix the fact that ditto still stops my sweepers from running through teams under webs and that cost me when my opponent brought the dreaded ditto this game.

https://pokepast.es/a58a4134f42800ee
Ft. M'joe'ra, Catalystic and Zesty

We... don't talk about this game either. Looking at Chazm's replays I realized that he wasn't packing a lot of speed control outside of Diancite Darkrai and such. I also noticed that he was using Manec Mew quite a bit as well as Groundceus, and unconventional mons like Dugtrio and Dhelmise to check Terrakion. This is where my love for Pinsirite Terrakion started. This guy is an absolute beast having the ability to use previous checks as lured set up fodder and refuse diancite shaymin or darkrai to revenge with quick attack while removing the pixie speed weakness makes this mon a terror for a lot of conventional balances. I also used another underrated breaker that refuses to be walled by Mages (besides Blue orb :[) in Red orb Darkrai. As I was running sludge bomb Darkrai, Cata suggested max defense Coil/Glare/Rest Zyg-C to laugh at Ho-oh trying to accomplish anything. Sab Buzzwole is something I saw utilized by Multi vs Chazm that came in very key at stopping Kartana, Darkrai, and Luc Zyg all in one mon. I had Manectite Mew on this because I realized that some of my previous teams were very weak to SD smack down Pdon and this Mew does a good job walling that out. If you saw my game vs Chazm you'll notice the Ho-oh was different than it is here. That's because it SHOULD have been band but I last minute panic changed it due to my worry about the t-spikes mu. In hindsight that is a bit silly as my Pins Terrak welcomes Gyara Pex in and proceeds to set up all over its face. Due to none of my other mons having rocks I was also forced to run rocks Pins Terrak which left no room for quick attack.

ZSOL STRIKES AGAIN
(M'joe'ra's build)

I am not going to be providing the builds I was given by those kind enough to help me without their permission. If they do give their consent I will update this later. But... yeah this game didn't matter much so I meme'd with Joe's infamous Z Splash Solgaleo Webs.

G1: https://pokepast.es/607c58231f1b5682
(Mark K's build)

I don't think Mark will mind if I provide this twist on his w4 stall he brought vs me. Basically the hope was to catch Joe bringing some fat passive balance with only a few limited breakers such as Darkrai or Terrakion. That way I could completely wall him out with this fat team and trap his breakers with Dugtrio. I also wanted to stall as I knew he would never expect stall and I... didn't have anything else available last minute. So Mark was nice enough to pass me this team and help me work on a few twists like Florges to make the Darkrai MU better. However the combination of me sucking at using stall, a key crit and a tough matchup proved too much for this team

G2: https://pokepast.es/0851e4c93e143d58
Ft. Mark K and Quantum Tesseract

Some neat BO centered around Lati Drill's ability to simultaneously remove and put up hazards in one mon. CM Fairyceus is pretty bad right now but still has a cool niche in being incredibly bulky and thus hard to revenge for a lot of offensively oriented builds in the current meta especially after a few CM's. The issue is it is walled by quite a few guys with the primary offenders being Ho-oh and Blissey. Thus I paired my Fairyceus with Physical P-ogre as a nice lure for pre-mega'd Blissey and a way of forcing out Ho-oh. This team also utilizes a super cool Lunala set in CM Tailwind. Not only does this allow Lunala to run a Modest nature to nab some key kills with +1 Z, Tailwind refuses Darkrai the window to revenge and thus offensive teams can quickly crumple under this monster if that is their only way of checking Lunala. This team does have some pretty scary weaknesses vs offensive pinsirite users like Cobalion, Pins Mage and Pins Terrak as well as opposing Lunala. Rock tomb can be run on Excadrill instead of toxic if you're confident in Kyogre being able to handle Groundceus but that doesn't fix the pins Mage weakness and then cm Groundceus becomes a massive threat.

G3: https://pokepast.es/f3eb299d448a54f4
Ft. Stresh

This team is by far my most well known team titled "The Finest of Weebs." I was intending to post it in the MnM resources thread as it has had so much success with a wide variety of players and I believe it is likely one of the most braindead simple teams to use for newer players to MnM because of how straightforward the team's purpose is and how easy it is to simply get hazards up, spam set up+explosion and just win the game. However, this MU was brutal and has me questioning how well it can handle some of the new meta threats like Red orb Darkrai as my only check ins unmega'd pins mage, but that's another story. This is a webs build Stresh and I worked on together after we became very frustrated with ditto tormenting our older webs builds on the ladder and such. I had the idea to use Pins mage with explosion as webs is normally hard pressed for Darkrai checks and Pins mage loosely accomplishes this alongside being a Shaymin-sky, Groundceus and Landorus check all in one. The dual aerialate explosion combo of Pins Mage + Sala Lando is brutal for quite a few teams to deal with as it opens up a path for Mage to sweep if Lando is sacrificed and vice versa. Lunala and Darkrai are the team's way of exploiting Blissey. Both have sub and the thought process behind the pairing is if Blissey packs confide psywave to deal with Lunala, Darkrai uses it as fodder. If the Blissey is running seismic toss, Lunala uses it as fodder so you always smack Blissey with one of the two. The Darkrai spread is really funky, but is designed to tank Ditto'd +2 hits and have a great shot of OHKOing in return. The Pdon is +Speed which is yuck but it allows Pdon to outspeed Diancite Tapu Lele and Metagrossite Kartana under webs and thus clean easier.

G1: https://pokepast.es/d01faad285827c18
(In The Hills' Build)

For I asked In The Hills for a bunch of his builds as I believe he is one of the best builders right now and I love using his stuff. This was the one he smashed me with W3 and I loved how it fared vs offensive builds with scarf Yveltal and dual dance DM since I expected some offense G1. I changed the DM to jolly last minute to outspeed Dia Darkrai and Shaymin at +2 since I knew Chazm and Multi were helping with prep and they both have loved using those diancite users lately. Perishceus makes the MU vs balance and fatter teams more bearable and Unfortunately the Pogre MU is fairly tough if one isn't very careful with keeping defensive Pdon healthy and limiting its switchins to things.

G2: https://pokepast.es/952a46a7c9c3fdcc

The return of Pins Terrak the beast! I prepped this team with a specific Multi team that Skysolo had used both the previous times he had played MnM in this tour in mind. I realized that this teams ways of dealing with Terrak were Manec Mew, Sable Buzzwole, Dia Darkrai and Lunala. The first 3 straight lose to Pins terrak and Lunala is no check after any kind of chip. I actually brought quick attack this time and this guy put in crazy work as a result... If only I wasn't trash and knew how to calc and didn't risk edge... Regardless, after Lunala's multiscale had been broken, Pins Terrak ended up completely blowing through that exact team as Diancite Darkrai was unable to revenge and Sablenite Buzzwole wasn't able to check Terrakion like it normally could if it was any set BUT Pins. I have Aggronite Buzzwole to wall Kartana and any kind of Zygarde that can stop my Terrakion from cleaning as well as the same Lunala set I brought vs Joe as that thing also puts in work vs the Multi team and again, I believe it's a great mon in the current meta. For my rocker I have SD rocks pdon with smack down to chip and force out obnoxious skarms and such. Sable mage to wall out opposing Lunalas, Darkrai, and CM Mages and any CM Arceus other than Ground and my last is toxic Skarm as Shaymin and Lele are already covered very well by Sable Mage and toxic Skarm with the sp def investment tanks two +2 ice beams from CM Groundceus and allows Skarm to toxic it and roost stall/ww it out.

G3: (In The Hills' Build)

For G3 I used another really cool In The Hills build centered around abusing t-spikes + Vintwo. A pokemon that may seem a bit too memey at first glance, but actually becomes quite deadly with toxic spike support. The rest of the team is geared around checking the majority of the big threats in the metagame thus allowing pex longevity to throw up t-spikes multiple times. Reg Gira is a nice touch on this team as it proves a second pressure staller and hard stops defensive P-don. Phys def Latiasite Magearna is also a cool tech that provides a Landorus and Darkrai answer in one. Despite being quite solid vs the majority of the metagame, this team does have some tough matchups. It has a horrid time vs Red Orb Darkrai and pretty much loses to Alt Zyg (In The Hills what is you doin?!?) Changing Sablenite Buzzwole to Aggronite instead would patch up this problem at the cost of losing the secondary Darkrai check if Lati Mage is weakened.

I normally really do not enjoy building but a tour format proved to be much more fun for me than a normal run of the mill ladder build. Huge S/o's to all the people I previously mentioned helping me under the actual pastes. Gonna give you all a larger shoutout when I actually make a s/o post and may repeat a few things there but ye.

In The Hills for passing completed builds and explaining how they work.

M'joe'ra for consistently working on my stuff with me after our teams played W3. You saved me W4 by fixing my atrocious Lati Pex HO that would have rolled over to that stall and improving it to the godly Lati Pex BO that it is today.

Mark_K for also passing me completed builds and saving my butt when some of my previous prepping partners didn't come through the later weeks.

Catalystic for fixing my terrible ev's and helping me with testing and finding some holes in my builds.

Jrdn for also fixing yet more holes in my bad builds and testing and being generally helpful and cooking up fire and giving me some grueling test games that tested both my patience and the solidness of my builds.

Terracotta for helping me out with some earlier builds and offering some cool ubers knowledge to a funky ubers-based metagame like MnM.

Zesty43 for helping me with a few ideas and helping me test.

xavgb for listening to all my wack ideas for teams and at least telling me when enough was enough with the heat (Camo Luc Zyg is the future just you wait).

Sylveon. for recognizing that my week 2 skeleton had the potential to be a great team and you were so right! I think that team is one of the coolest i've ever built and it started with you pointing out that it looked great from the start. Thank you as well for taking a general interest in my MnM in the discord and such.

Quantum Tesseract for giving me a few cool starting ideas to work around for potential teams. The CM Fairyceus + Physical Ogre is a neat idea and the team I utilized it on won so thank you.

Not a promise, I'm just gonna call it.
Dumping teams that i built that never saw the light of day that I found fairly decent, or had a cool idea behind it. I hope everyone grows to appreciate how horrible I am at EVs, shoutout Catalystic for triggering him every time i posted a team

https://pokepast.es/acb5358f95f007d5 - Z-Doom Desire Jirachi with steelworker pressured teams heavily, and Zeraora forced out almost every single DD switch in, bar Volt Absorb Toxapex or Skarmory I guess. Assault Vest Suicune is wild, but it honestly works. The Z move on Jirachi has a high chance to OHKO Fini, kills Hippo, can kill Skarm after rocks, OHKOs 252 HP Zyg etc.

https://pokepast.es/bd8319dca862211d - This team is a variation of the team Geerat posted vs Shiba. It showcases CM Split Magearna with Sheer Force + LO and it's amazing vs stall. Prankster Scizor actually works, somehow. It basically just sets up Curses to stay ahead of Dragon Dancers and Bulk Up mons, Toxicing the latter, and threatening the former out eventually. It's not exactly the best answer to those aformentioned mons, but it's neat.

https://pokepast.es/c9c9b26136beacaf - AV Nihilego lives Modest Specs Volcanion Steam Eruption in the rain. +3 Manaphy in the rain kills Tapu Fini w/ Z-Surf. 80% min to non-Unaware Chansey. OHKOs 252/252+ AV Magearna. The kind of power this thing doles out it honestly ridiculous, can't believe this set was never used. Krook stops all Gengar sets (looking at you normalize) and that's 2/3 on Zeraora lol.

https://pokepast.es/2de11f7a68610295 - Heracross is hot, don't hate

https://pokepast.es/acdeb716a7c7dc1c - I call this team: Lose to magic bounce team. It's also the birthplace of Hustle in AAA. +2 Z-Edge ohkos Skarmory, ohkos 252 HP Buzzwole, ohkos Fini. Boom Ohkos Hippo at +1 (if you hit) There's literally 0 Pokemon that's common as a physically defensive mon that can take all 3 of these moves. Boom even kills 252/252+ Mega Slowbro lol. The rest of the team works pretty well if there's no magic bounce. Get screens, keep them up as long as possible, until you can't and then switch Zard into Defog. I believe Aesf took that idea from me, but I'm not 100% sure (grr!) Edit: I love how the Charizard X isn't showing, but it still shows an X. Keeping it

Also here's some sets that I liked but I couldn't build a team around them well enough.

Volcarona @ Firium Z
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Fire Blast
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Tbh Idk why I liked this. There wasn't as much Snorlax at the time, and people relied on resists. +1 Firium kills Zygarde and Toxapex, which was pretty unexpected. Also kills 252 HP Nihilego. Idk it was cool okay

hmm I can't see any other ones. I guess the cool sets mainly got onto those teams, which is dope. Enjoy

Hey, here to show off my epic undefeated aaa record this ompl.

Use this team cause it's good:

https://pokepast.es/b9005d7fe87c9204
Five fat mons and a charizard. manaphy never dies and always annoys so just chip with dual hazard + dual koff + burns / poisons. Zard is a surprisingly good mb mon cause it denies rocks from hippo, mew, gligar, skarm, ferrothorn and sets up on them, don't mega it too fast. Drill takes 0 from rocks which makes it surprisingly hard to wear down with lefties, don't ever get koffed and play it conservatively. Really you wanna be cycling muk and manaphy most of the time. Spin + mb means you can often have hazards on the opposing side but keep them away from yours. A lot of the time I just pursuit or wear down special mons to setup for a skarm sweep.
This team is very solid, trust.

Don't use this cause it's shit:

https://pokepast.es/b69a1077b373d53f
I was dead sure someone would bring Gravity Lando-T so I started running max speed Zapdos to switch in on the gravity and OHKO the next turn as they eq. I didn't end up battling Landorus at all but Zapdos' coverage is pretty neat to circumvent immunities as people can't run volt absorb and Flash Fire on the same set. Medicham removes Ferrothorn mainly but is also very convenient for Excadrill and Magearna, it also adds offensive pressure on fat stuff that Zapdos is not too good against such as Chansey or Volt Absorb Toxapex. Then I struggled to find an ok defensive core and ended up with what you see. Spiritomb helps with psyspam and physically offensive mons (such as Snorlax) on top of being generally really annoying and wearing down the opposing team without them realising. Doublade is my way of covering Victini, Volcarona and Tapu Koko on a mon that can't be trapped. Unaware U-turn Celebi is honestly a perfect addition to the team, except I'm soundproof HP Ice cause otherwise, Noivern wins. This team is ok at best but I do really enjoy using it.

I've not used this but it looks awesome:

https://pokepast.es/cff7cee92257a479
Not much to explain, it's just a bunch of fat mons. Avalugg walls esoteric version of Zygarde or Garchomp such as Z-Draco, Hustle Z-Outrage or Banded Toxic and beat Gravity Landorus-T. Sableye is my Bouncer that walls Medicham (intimidate for download) also supposedly deals with Snorlax but tickle and recover are not compatible so I have to settle with subpar options. The rest patches up weaknesses, pretty happy to have an actual Ttar switchin on this team too. Volcarona runs too much speed so that it outspeeds Timid Xurkitree and too much spa so that it OHKOs no bulk Ttar at +1. I also subconsciously planned for a Metronome -ate echoed voice check before it became a thing. This team has a bit of redundancy so it's not the tightest and probably not the best, but it has a table and a Volcarona so it wins easy style points.

This is unrelated to OMPL, just keep it in your teambuilder:

W vs OF: Zeraora Balance https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7almostanyability-771709648
I knew OF liked offensive teams and Zeraora just came out, and it is a fantastic offense matchup, as is Bisharp. The rest of the team is just copy/paste from how I build all my AAA teams. This team is really solid, can handle pretty much any matchup. The game against OF was surprisingly easy it didn't seem like he tried very hard idk apparently there was arguing in his team or something

This came took a Draco miss, a 5 turn choice set bluff, and the biggest dick play of my life to win with my last mon at 1hp, nothin else need be said.
Team is built around magpull Nido like aesf already mentioned, it can beat almost any steel. This allows Koko to generally do work, which is what won me this game. I think people agree now that YawnLax is the future, and Volc is dope. Really fun team in general

so immediately when i'd discovered mamp wasn't on my team, i started prepping for her. she was probably the draft i feared most after moro and hl, but i started taking down notes and everything as to what i believed would be good against her. i started w/ a team built around primal groudon and mold pursuit mega gengar, as i knew she loved shed and pheromosa which i wanted a good mu versus. however, i wasn't a huge fan of the team bc it had a diancie on it as well as way too many offensive threats (there was a kart in addition to the aforementioned mons, as well as my favorite defensive core of registeel and giratina.) i ended up swapping to a team very similar to this one (celes don m2y tina shed dino), which i liked the most out of my first 12 drafts. however, i was still wary of it, so i swapped to a shed contra mmy offensive combination. then i went back to the pdon mmy core but w/ some mons changed, which i didnt like all too much. i replaced the pdon w/ a prank dialga (lol shit teambuilding) which i then discovered was also really annoying to play with. after that i went through two zekrom teams, 4 attempts at hyper offense and another prototype of this team, slightly improved from my second draft, before coming to this one.
mamp loves pheromosa. a little too much imo, since i knew she was gonan bring it. in addition, i knew she liked shed. what's a mon that shits on both? mold mgar. i built the team around that and primal groudon since mamp always had a huge pdon weakness in my experience. i added imposter chans to scout for sets, and added a cele to improof the don. i changed to sheer force mmy and added prank tina since i didnt have a tina yet and didnt have a prank either. after that, i changed to contrary mmy bc that can get out of hand ridic fast. however i discovered i lacked an improof and brought unaware chans at the expense of my imposter.

f
i saw ttar and went "oh shit, please dont be offensive." when mamp led w/ a diancie named w/ the gay agenda, my first thought was "lmao throwback." my second thought was how even though i knew celesteela answered, in case it was mguard and mamp used the nick under the assumption i'd think it was pixi instead of mguard, it'd prob be nice to get a burn on it since then chans could answer. i played the next turns p passively until ttar got in on chans, and i was scared needless to say. i hoped mamp would assume it was fc, which apparently worked? i metal bursted the ttar bc it tried to go for the koff (which was a roll in my favor since i was +def) from there i just tried to scout sets. i was pissed when wisp missed bc if it was mguard i just lost there and ifi t was pixi, i lost a tertiary answer in chans. i tried to set up w/ don way too early but illusion wasnt that important so i didnt rly care, didnt wanna lose my wincon tho. also once chans took that koff it was useless so i just had to play rly conservatively. the rest of my gameplan revolved around getting pdon in on impostered celes, mosa or diancie as it picked up a kill p much every time. eventually it ended up working out and i got the win.

week 3 | crystallize | replay

all of my builds started with some mmy that i knew moro wouldnt have many good checks for. contra, sheer force, you name it and i prob included it. in the end at hl's suggestion i went w/ a simple mmy which was easy to improof - i have never seen moro use yveltal, so i didn't mind it being walled. i always put a secondary breaker after the mmy, most often an -ate since i felt moro would be ill prepped if i used the right one - i alternated between -ate kyub, -ate mdiancie and -ate mmx before settling on illu mdiancie at flint's suggestion. after that, i flirted w/ the idea of a tina before deciding he'd def be prepped for it and went w/ aegislash, which gave me an improof to a lot of my mons too. i always had a ff mon - my favorite moro team had a sweeper pdon on it, so i wanted to make sure i was prepped for that. the rest was just stuff that complimented the team - i always wanted an imposter on the team bc i was worried as to what moro could bring, since he'd been bringing weird stuff in his game vs hl and sl42.
i started w/ the simple mmy and i knew i wanted yvel to improof as well as something for unaware darks and steels, which is where yvel and diancie came from. aegis was my diancie improof and shed thing, and thorn was there bc i wanted a flash fire steel and ferrothorn is actually a pain in the ass sometimes. imposter was needed. moro also uses fc chans a lot so i put z on the mmy as z move ohkos fc chans after a tg.
i knew i wanted to scout sets from the get go, so i decided to lead imp. i saw a beak blast phtar which ngl scared the fuck out of me, i knew i had to get diancie in to deal w/ it asap since i had a lot of contact moves on the team. rocky helm slowbro was also inconvenient. at this point i thought mmy could go wild, the issue was i wasnt sure if that chans was unaware or not. i knew he'd leave tina in on mmy after he left it in once, so i kept that in mind. after i stalled a bit of pp on bro w/ thorn and aegi, decided to u turn into the tina and moro took that moment to pivot into the duskmane. i stalled a bit, hoping he'd get annoyed and just attack but that wasnt to be so i let him boost and went to aegi to prank dbond. unfortunately i got para'd and was down a mon, while he had a dangerous sweeper. i feared ultra burst eq when i sent imp in (it killed iirc, i calced), so i sent in ferro which shouldve done well vs it even if it bursted. w/ how he harded it out i figured it wasnt an opportune time to uburst or he just wasnt ultra burst, so i stalled the bro out a bit before harding yvel. dread plate revdance is fucking powerful. anyway i wanted to set up on zyg being left almost dead by illu diancie, so i decided to set up mmy then. yea, prob not the best idea but i was pissed at the para earlier. i figured tina was prob coming in and i assumed since i rarely run sleep and run a lot of trick, his tina was a z crystal and he wasnt gonna risk zyg a second time. i spored, tail glowed as chans came in and this is where i choked a bit. if he had been unaware i straight up wouldve lost, i shouldve spored and z'd. however i was really annoyed and i thought unaware chans prob wasnt the best choice for his team, so i went for it. it paid off and i managed to sweep for the win

week 5 | dance of the sugar plum fairy | replay

i knew i wanted a mon w/ a good mu against bulkier teams, so that's where the specs diancie came from. it 2hkos regi after a volt switch and 2hkos imposter which is sick. pdon improofs the diancie but opposing dons get 2hkoed which is also slick, so i knew i wanted to build around this core. i wanted an imposter, too. i let quantum finish up the team and he did a p good job of it, but i changed the 5th mon to dialga bc i felt unsafe against specs ray which i had purposely left all my teams weak to for hl or quantum. anyway, that was the team
when i entered the game, i wanted to verify that mdiancie went wild, which it did once shed died - his team wasnt prepped for it at all, but my team had a bad shed mu anyway. i didnt expect him to bring shed bc he told me how much he hated it in ompl and stuff... top tier baiting from him tbh. unfortunately i got way too reckless w/ mdiancie early on so i lost it early on in the game and missed a few crucial attacks, which some revenge hax made up for. it eventually turnedi nto a pp stalling competition, but i recognized my wincon in dialga and mmx, w/ imp being a convenience but not a requirement. basically after that my goal was to win w/ em, which worked and it was a scary game overall. prob my favorite game this ompl.

i didn't expect to do as well as i did this year. from the start my gameplan was to let others take the wins and for myself to lose vs the top players, since the weeks where i didnt play were the weeks i was confident in my teammates to win while i prepped for the next player. i expected to finish up w/ 1-3, and ended up 3-0 which was definitely unexpected. also a year or so ago i def didnt expect to pull this off, since i was complete and utter shit at bh lol goes to show how much you can improve if you work hard enough. See you all next year

Oh before i go - special thanks to motherlove, Funbot28, highlighter and Quantum Tesseract for making bh this ompl special. Thanks to E4 Flint for backing me up in bh for a year and helping me mentally emotionally and mons wise too and just being my best friend overall

I knew i wanted to use something bulky and had a solid breaker and so I asked Gurpreet Patel (Sent you a Friend Request) for a kanga team. He gave me a pretty good template but with some pretty wack sets (water absorb ho-oh and scarf imposter giratina really...) Overall even with illusion being banned and all i think this team is probably still pretty effective with any ability for the initial normal kanga (maybe furcoat could work or regen). Basically kanga is walled by the zygarde which is 1 point faster then it effectively pp stalling it. Sableye + ho-oh effectively walls nearly all phers and serves as the psychic spam checks very well which hl really likes using which was nice to have. The Ho-oh set is pretty wacky since it has no stab or escape options for anchor perishers but I found it extremely effective as a spike layerer as well as extremely effective at spreading paralysis which is essential for kanga to wreak havoc. The sable set is also pretty strange as it has no momentum move despite being the slowest pokemon ever, but i found it to be the only pokemon that could carry stealth rock. Scarf chansey to ensure I don't auto lose to some random setupper sash bullshit (and as a pp stall wincon). Dialga to not lose to Boomburst and other special spammers. Finally wish on zygarde I found to be supremely necessary to continue facilitating kanga.
Overall if the team can get the hazards to do their work and kanga to start breaking the team starts to do wonders as shown by my match against hl.

Shoutouts to E4 Flint for helping me decide which should be the spiker, wisher, and stealth rocker. As well as helping me figure out what the sableye set should be

week 1: vs halliday

i didn't really know what to expect from halliday because i didn't see him around much. but i did know that his bh teammate, jasprose, was a fan of more consistent styles like balance and ph sweepers. kyurem-b stood out as a solid threat against most fat teams, so i started with the subpunch set. tail glow spikes arc helps against shed (most bouncers lose to +3 attacks) and acts as a late game sweeper that can take advantage of kyub beating everyone up. registeel imposter proofs arceus while sab does sab things and ho oh rounds out the defensive core. prank chansey is a pretty weird mon but i didn't want to lose to specs ate especially with this slower team.

i was pretty happy with how this team turned out, there are only 2 major problems: 1) diancie can hit kyub through sub and 2) kyub actually has no imposter proofer. one of the better teams i built though imo.

https://pokepast.es/ec06bcc721720190
this might have been the cleanest game i played in this ompl. i had the tools to deal with mmx and gengar, and his team was really weak to kyub and arceus because it was double imposter. arceus just set up late game and won. watching all the spectators go wild was fun too

week 2: vs morogrim

since morogrim usually doesn't bring imposter on his balance builds, i decided to start with a kartana that would normally be invalidated by it, then pair it with a specs illusion ray to lure guys like giratina and hit imposter on the off chance he did bring it. ph "utility sweeper" ogre rounded out the offensive core. i decided to go for a more passive defensive core, so i brought intimidate flame orb giratina (couldn't be slept) to deal with cb wallbreakers, regenvest gear to wall some special attackers, and prankster guzzlord to counter gengar. overall the defensive core of the team was kind of lacking and it would do worse in an environment with more imposter, but it's still a decent team on the whole (although it can't be used after illusion ban).

https://pokepast.es/29f167d35a6bfaa2
this game was really weird. first of all, i thought ray disguised as ogre was a good idea and i got the lead i wanted, but he turned out to be regenvest nuzzle. he also had a kartana of his own which i had trouble damaging. on the other hand, my magearna and ogre had pretty good matchups, so they were able to put in work during the game and get in kartana to get kills. the late game was kind of dumb though. if i could change anything, i might have sacrificed ray to kartana's z move so giratina wouldn't just be bait.

week 3: vs disciple_1

so in every replay i could find of this guy, he used mega mewtwo x. i picked up an unconventional (and underrated imo) counter in ph mega slowbro, which could stay healthy and prevent mmx from putting in much work. for breakers, i decided to go for specs ray and 4 attacks tech mmx. i didn't have much history of using the former, and no one prepares for tech mmx ever so i figured it would work out.

the team is relatively ladder proof, with prankster ttar + psea celesteela + scarf imposter handling most stuff not covered by slowbro. honestly it's pretty average overall.

https://pokepast.es/38ac272addf2b5fc
this game was pretty slow, unlike the first two. ph slowbro worked exactly like i wanted it to, ph coming in handy to block spore from ph mmx, and my team was wearing down his team in the mid game.

where i screwed up is letting my ray answers (ttar and celesteela) take unnecessary damage so they couldn't switch into it. also, i forgot to calc boomburst vs slowbro and let it die needlessly. in the end, i was rewarded by the rng, but it was kind of lame.

week 5: vs quantum tesseract

i wanted to make the ultimate counter to passive play (qt is a relatively safe player) so i made this hyper offense team around drum aerilate ray, which could lure and eliminate prankster haze steels so ttar and arceus could sweep. jellicent prevents ph users from winning and imposter proofs pheromosa while yveltal stops offensive shell smash and imposter into ttar from winning.

i actually tested this team on the ladder. it was pretty inconsistent, winning only around 3 battles out of 5, but i felt like it had the capability to get things done.

https://pokepast.es/e02101369e157b80
so the game went pretty horribly, and i lost. even if i was able to get ray set up, he could've revenge killed with imposter, and he also had a ttar counter in fini.

something i've learned after reflecting on this game is that i didn't lose because i missed the read on getting ray in, i lost because i massively miscalculated qt's play style. unlike a stall player like adrian or semako that i could reasonably set up ray for free on, qt preferred to use aids mons like regenvest dialga and scald fini that were just really annoying to deal with. instead of this, i should've brought a more solid defensive core that could handle that stuff, and good breakers.

week 6: vs tzop

i hadn't brought shed before this, so i decided that this would be a good week to use it. i reused the illusion ray from week 2 to lure and ko guys like giratina and aegi while disguised as shed. bouncer ogre and scarf imposter were standard support for shed, and i threw on a ph xern more to put things to sleep than anything else. doublade was the blanket check + prankster.

honestly this is objectively one of the better teams i've built. shame you can't use it anymore

https://pokepast.es/d4d9645452dfb304
i spent the first few turns trying to activate toxic orb without losing momentum lol. the illusion lure worked just like i thought it would—i was able to hard switch to illusion ray without risking damage because celesteela was asleep, and his ghost was gone. then he brought in diancie later on and i was like "where's my diancie counter" so i had to sack ogre for defog. my initial late game wincon was xern, but in practice scarf imposter ended up revenge killing both remaining mons and getting me the win. xern was a pretty bad wincon anyway because he was scarf kart lol

week 7: vs mamp

electrify lightning rod + normalize gar was a pairing i had in mind for a while, but i thought both were walled by magic bounce. originally i was putting together this team of bounce steela + ph bro + specs unecro + regenvest ttar + pdon + groundium z diancie but when i was testing it, it turned out to have no setup counterplay, so i had to scrap it. then i was getting reqs and saw electrify, so naturally i went into my magic bouncer but NOPE IT GOES THROUGH MAGIC BOUNCE. this was huge, it meant that all normalize gar counters lost to electrify gar. even unaware yveltal could be worn down with sludge bomb poisoning into +6 moongeist.

unaware chans/ff gear/ph sab was pretty passive, because you can only have so much aids on a team. i went for scarf chansey over blissey this round because the team beat kanga thanks to gengars.

https://pokepast.es/a6bf542c73ce398a
there really isn't much to say about this because normalize gar pretty much won from preview, then imposter won after celesteela died to moongeist beam. overwhelmingly good matchup.

finals: vs mamp

so i was making this balance team for the finals around the turboblaze kyuw, with guys like u turn pdon and ph subpass audino backing it up. but the team was really slow and i didn't feel comfortable with it, so i ended up bringing the old semi stall, which i think was a good move (even though the other team technically had a better matchup).

rmt soon

https://pokepast.es/464c8f6855878b9f
hax definitely played a role in this game. xerneas stole my ogre on a 3/16 chance (lk hit + magma hit + sleep turns), and shed was put to sleep for three turns as well, without magma storm missing. but what i think really decided this game was my playing.

i played this game like i would just another ladder game, which was in some ways a good thing, but it limited me as well. i was playing entirely within a "safe box" that i had no business confining myself to. i played mega mewtwo y way too safely, so in practice mamp was able to take advantage of that and get in a better position.

this game was interesting because there was no one play that ended the game for me (in fact, i still could've won in the unlikely event that lovely kiss missed vs shed). rather, i played the game as a whole not well enough.

bonus: teams i almost brought
