Pre-Bank OU Simple Balanced Team

Heyo, bit new to comp pokemon but played a tad back in 5th gen, been having a lot of sucess with this team having only lost to some runaway setup sweepers when I was being silly and tired.

Skarmory | Leftovers | Impish | Sturdy | HP 252 DEF 232+ SP ATK- SPEED 24

Stealth Rock
Roost
Whirlwind
Brave Bird

Skarmory's a great setup dude, because unless it meets some horrible little Smergale it's going to get the rocks out, it's also great at booting out any setup sweepers/baton passers trying to get a cheeky few boosts going. I choose roost and brave bird over the spikes because despite no attack EVs it can still do a bit of damage and heal very nicely, often dodging electric attacks and the like with roost.

Gengar | Gengarite | Timid | Levitate (Shadow Tag as Mega) | HP 4 ATK- SP ATK 252 SPEED 252+

Focus Blast
Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb
Thunderbolt

Fantastic mega-evolver my favorite out of the bunch, just wrecks so many things with his amazing Special Attack, traps stuff and has damn good coverage. Went for Timid because anything it's 2HKOing now isn't going to get 1HKO with the extra Special Attack, also works as a spin blocker, ground type attack switch in and toxic switch in.
Charizard Y while strong for me personally has too many big weakness and less oppurtunity for switch ins.
Mega Kazam has too narrow a coverage pool for my tastes.

Volcarona | Lum Berry | Bold | Flame Body | HP 252 ATK- DEF 204+ SPEED 52

Quiver Dance
Firey Dance
Bug Buzz
Roost

Volcarona is a really awesome setup sweeper, I've tried numerous while experimenting and I've really loved this guy because of how awesomely bulky AND powerful quiver dance makes him, considering how high his base special attack is and special defence is I haven't invested in them, quiver dance makes it not really matter anyways, however I invested a lot in his defence to make him physically bulkier, the little bit of speed really pays off after a few quiver dances as he starts outrunning even very fast pokemon like gengar and besides auqa jet this guy laughs at priority moves. Scizor may do about 25% with a bullet punch then get roasted. Roost gives him some good recovery and really makes leftovers a bit superfluous so the lum berry is there to stgop thunder waves/toxics.

250px-232Donphan.png

Donphan | Leftovers | Adamant | Sturdy | HP 252 ATK 252+ SP ATK- SP DEF 4

Rapid Spin
Ice Shard
Earthquake
Head Smash

Providing not only priority moves from huge attack and being a bro clearing rocks for Volcarona and Lapras but also a damn tough physical attacker who scares away stuff like Charizard Electric Types Talonflame just on the switch in, Donphan's a bro. I usaully keep him safe until I need something spinning but he's definatly strong enough to just pure sweep if I need him to. Sturdy's awesome just in case I absolutely NEED to get off the rapid spin/ice shard/whatever, ice shard makes up for poor speed and is good coverage (Mess up Dragonite and Garchomp like nobodies business) earthquake is just earthquake nuth said and head smash is awesome against any fliers switiching in. Excadrill would normally be my choice but the fire weakness and lack of as good a rock move as head smash made me a little wary.

250px-212Scizor.png

Scizor | Choice Band | Adamant | Technician | HP 252 ATK 252+ SP ATK- SP DEF 4

U-Turn
Quick Attack
Pursuit
Bullet Punch

Of course OU's favorite metal bug dude is a strong pillar of this team, he's awesome for all the standard reasons, boosted priority, pretty decent coverage, strong as heck U-Turn and just general fear factor of a scizor switching into say an Espeon, Pursuit nets him coward kills on Psychics, U-Turn lets him scout, Quick Attack is there for coverage and Bullet punch is there to break a hole in most things. I chose this over swords dance because it's more of a revenge killer and I've already got Volcarona for a setup sweeper.

250px-131Lapras.png

Lapras | Chesto Berry | Calm | Water Absorb | HP 252 ATK- SP DEF 252+ DEF 4

Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Rest
Perish Song

Got to straight off admit, I'm bias as hell towards Lapras, I love the heck outta this thing but in my defense it certainly isn't a slouch. While it's weakness to the load of Fighters kicking about is worrying and the Scizor weakness isn't great Lapras does fine because it's much more of a special wall, and it does a great job of it. Water Absorb gives nice free switches and BoltBeam gives fantastic coverage, sadly Lapras doesn't have a more constituent recovery but at least rest gets rid of statuses which are an issue for Lapras, perish song is a recent addition as a last resort for dealing with crazy pumped up setup sweepers.

The team's got a bit of rock weakness which is why I'm careful about not letting Donphan in but it's pretty balanced type wise from what I've played. It's mostly designed around me loving prediction and free switches and I've had a lot of wins from just keeping the opponent constantly switching into rocks until Gengar can just clean house.
