[Pre-Bank OU] #YOLOSwagsire2014

I've been playing with this team for a while and it's done pretty well, but I can't seem to bring it over the hump. It's not particularly weak to anything, but it's not super strong against anything -- a jack-of-all-trades kind of team, if you will. The strategy is to take out everything that can't be annoyed to death by Quagsire, have Quagsire set up, then watch the rage quitting start. This is the second version of this team because it was made apparent that I should make a new thread since it's so radically different from the last version:

Tyranitar (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 84 SAtk / 176 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Pursuit
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam
- Rock Slide

Generally this is my lead. It absorbs attacks and tries to damage things as much as possible with as much coverage as I can get before it goes down. Pursuit is for Gengar and Espeon, Fire Blast is for Ferrothorn and Scizor, Ice Beam is for Gliscor, and Rock Slide is for Talonflame and Volcarona. It still loses to a number of things, so I'm considering changing it...I just don't know to what. Anything with Earthquake is a major problem, so I normally switch to Mandibuzz if I see Excadrill or Garchomp come out, but they both still give my team problems. The EV spread is just so that I can hit Ferrothorn harder with Fire Blast.

Chansey (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Heal Bell
- Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic

Through six generations and it's still probably the best special tank in the game. Keeps my team healthy (particularly Quagsire free of Toxic) and poisons opposing Pokes in return. Not much else needs to be said what hasn't already been said about this thing. My team would love to have Wish support, but unfortunately it's illegal right now with Chansey.

Lucario (F) @ Lucarionite
Ability: Steadfast
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Blaze Kick
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance

I needed another sweeper on my team and I finally settled on this. Give it a chance to set up and it can run rampant through an entire team. That being said, it's walled by an uncomfortably large number of things. It's STABs are good, but not great, and it's so frail that it won't survive long enough to 2HKO something, especially if I've been using Close Combat. Blaze Kick is to nail steel types that give Haxorus problems. Despite its power, it really seems to be more of a liability or as something to scare other threats away. I also always find myself losing to opposing Lucario and it's really frustrating.

612.gif

Haxorus (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Poison Jab
- Earthquake

Whereas I think Unaware might be the best defensive ability in the game with Quagsire, Moldbreaker might be the best offensive one -- nailing Levitate Pokes with EQ is way too much fun. This thing was with me all last generation and continues to be with me today. It has superb coverage, and fairies that think they can switch in unscathed are obliterated by Poison Jab. No one really likes to take a boosted Outrage to the face, and this is really hard to stop once it gets going. I also love switching into a predicted WoW, heal with Lum, from Rotom-W only to destroy it with Earthquake.

Mandibuzz (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Roost
- Taunt
- Defog
- Foul Play

The other side of my defensive core. It provides okay synergy with Chansey, and I can usually come in from Tyranitar on a predicted EQ. It wrecks physical sweepers with Foul Play who try to set up, like Aegislash. It's also my main Defog support because my team doesn't really like hazards -- especially toxic spikes. I'm thinking about switching Defog for Whirlwind because sub-users and some boosted Pokes give my team way more problems than entry hazards. I've slowly come to realize that it kind of does the same thing as Quagsire, but it's a bit bulkier at the beginning. However, I'm open to suggestions on what I can change it to instead.

#Swagsire (Quagsire) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Stockpile
- Toxic
- Recover

The unequivocal star of my team, who I think is one of the best anti-OU Pokes out there right now. It's amazing at taking out just about any of the common attacking threats out there like Aegislash, Azumarill, Talonflame, and MegaKangaskhan. The idea is to switch into something that will barely touch it or when someone else on my team croaks, max out Stockpile, then wear everything down with Scald burns or Toxic. Unless you're packing grass, you should probably just rage quit. It's gimmicky and hates anything with Rest, Moldbreaker, or other healing moves like Scizor or Gliscor with Roost, and especially hates Toxic, but for what it does it more than makes up for those faults.

Threat List
-MegaVenusaur: Although not that common, I have no answer for it at all. It can't be Toxic'd, usually carries Synthesis, OHKOs Quagsire, and is not weak to any move I have on my team. Ugh.
-Moldbreaker Excadrill: 1 SD and it's goodnight to my whole team. It doesn't help that it's usually carrying a balloon, so I can't even kill it with EQ from Haxorus before it starts to boost. Mandibuzz handles unboosted ones decently.
-MegaLucario: 1 Close Combat does 60%+ damage to Quagsire, so my usual strategy for physical sweepers is useless, unless it comes in after I've already gotten a stockpile or two. It's faster than unboosted Haxorus and can usually kill it with Close Combat.
-Gliscor: Even if I hit with Ice Beam from Tyranitar, it can probably kill me with Earthquake. It completely walls the rest of my team unless Haxorus can get a boosted Outrage on it.
-Ditto: Many Pokes on my team can be a problem for my team itself. It can transform into Chansey and get rid of Toxics or burns I've been building up, transform into Haxorus and Moldbreak through my team, etc. Very difficult for me to kill a ditto.
-Sableye: This thing is really annoying, and I either have to get lucky or my opponent do something stupid to counter it.
-Sygliph: Also pretty rare, but I have no answer for it. It's one of the reasons I'm considering putting Whirlwind on Mandibuzz.
-Trevenant: Not as much of a threat as it used to be because Haxorus or MegaLucario can usually handle it, but it can still give me fits if it manages to get a substitute up.
-Garchomp: Pretty much takes out my whole team except for Quagsire, and to a lesser extent, Mandibuzz. There are times where I've been unlucky and it will get a crit on Outrage and KO Quagsire.
-Azumarill: Playrough can do a number on Quagsire and Mandibuzz, CB or letting it get a Belly Drum in are no fun.

I can see where there are some pretty pig problems in your team.

The first one is Tyranitar. You are trying so hard to cover things, that you don't play T-Tar to it's strengths. Wile it does have a pretty good Special Attack, it isn't really comparable to it's Physical Attack. In my opinion, using this set would help a lot.

Tyranitar @ Assualt Vest
252 HP/252 Atk/4 Sp Def or 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Spd
Adamant
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
-Knock Off
-Fire Blast/Ice Beam

While the final Moveslot does contradict what I said a bit, Superpower still isn't available, so this is here for some extra coverage. StoneQuake is there for the great coverage/damage and Knock Off is there instead of Pursuit or Crunch to get rid of any threats that rely on items to function well.

If threats like MegaVenusaur do really become serious, running Ice Punch on Lucario (was Blaze Kick not working?) also, Fire Blast T-Tar walls it pretty well. Belly Drum Azumarill is destroyed by Mandibuzz, as are any other threats that are only threats because they boost are taken out by Mandibuzz, too. 80 Base Speed does outspeed some Pokémon that are mainly boosting threats. Same goes for Quagsire, he can take care of most Boosters. Lucario should be able to take care of Ditto, and T-Tar can smash Sigilyph, along with Sableye. Both Quagsire and T-Tar should be able to take out Gliscor, and Ice Ounch on MegaLic should help too.

Hope that helped a bit, and I didn't ramble too much. Good luck!

annoying quagsire looks fun lol
I believe breelom could also be a threat to your team, it can kill 4 of your pokes, and may spore your swagwire then 2HKO it

No, to my knowledge Knock Off is not illegal on anything. If it is though, switching for Crunch or Pursuit. Using these wouldn't change the set very much, but you would have to change your strategy a bit.

Adece makes a good point, Breloom is a killer. Blaze Kick/Ice Punch Lucario and Outrage Haxorus can take of it pretty easily, though.

Yeah, Breloom can give me problems if it has substitute. Mandibuzz can take care of it decently if Lucario or Haxorus can't punch it first.
