Duggy is gone, thanks everyone to banning that monster, I can finally put up a rmt.

I normally don't go first thing talking about the meta but for this sun I have to address that the lack of good fire types makes this team possible to run with effectiveness in the first place so it'll not be your typical sun build from me. Sun isn't the greatest at the moment even with Venusaur as any normal sun build gets demolished in this current meta, had to make a a whole foundational change to how I make sun.

New Foundation

1) Sun Setter: Still stays the same as Torkoal is the best option for this

2) Chlorophyll sweeper: Also still stays the same with Venusaur

3) Hazard Control: Also still stays the same as Mandibuzz, Excadrill, and Torkoal handle that

4) Win Condition w/o Needing Sun: Excadrill, Necrozma, and Weavile also handle that.

5) Checks the Meta: Mandibuzz, Necrozma, Torkoal, and Excadrill handle most if not all of the meta defensively to some degree.

6) Speed Control w/o Sun: Weavile and Excadrill (via spin) help this.

Not too much different from the usual and having some fire resist is helpful but isn't a needed requirement like it used to be if you have the right pieces to offset that weakness.

Sun Team (No Pictures)

Torkoal

Item: Heat Rock
Ability: Drought
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Rapid Spin

Roles Filled

• Only fire resist

• Sun setter

• Rocks

• Checks some physical attackers

• Lures Hippowdon, Tyranitar and Pelipper and cripples with toxic

• Backup hazard control

Item Reason: Extra sun turns

EV Spread

248 HP: Health investment lets Torkoal not die to rocks after 4 switch-ins from full; takes less hazard damage.

252 Def: Torkoal's best trait is the defensive stat as it can tank crazy hits in a pinch or even wall something. No known spreads are better than max defense to my knowledge.

8 SpA: Filler

Venusaur

Item: Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Weather Ball
- Growth

Roles Filled

• Sun sweeper

• Speed control

• Toxic spikes removal

• Water resist (not a Vish switch-in)

• The main win condition

Item Reason: Needed damage boost

EV Spread

252 SpA: There isn't any reason not to max out Venusaur's ability to break at this time.

252 Speed: To speed tie other modest Venusaur you'll want the ability to not get totally destroyed by other sun.

4 SpDef: Filler

Necrozma

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 248 HP / 76 SpA / 184 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Photon Geyser
- Heat Wave
- Calm Mind
- Moonlight

Roles Filled

• Bulky win condition

• Check to most attackers like life orb Zeraora, Conkeldurr, Vish while under sun, Kommo-o, and Terrakion.

• Checks some special attackers like Hatterne and Clefable

Item Reason: Passive recovery to check things much easier.

EV Spread

248 HP: Max out Necrozma's ability to check a wide variety of pokemon with being less prone to hazards as 252 would be.

76 SpA: Lets Necrozma attack a little harder. This can be redistributed however you like.

184 SpD: Along with a timid nature, this lets Necrozma outpace Bisharp even if jolly. This can also be redistributed but I would suggest having it still be able to outpace adamant Bisharp no matter what.

Excadrill

Item: Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 124 HP / 48 Def / 152 SpD / 184 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head

Roles Filled

• Spinner

• Steel

• Ground

• Win condition outside of sun

• Quirky speed control

• Checks some special attackers like Dragapult, Toxtricity, CM Jirachi, and Clefable along with dracos from Hydreigon and Kyurem

• Checks some physical attackers like scarf Jirachi, drain punch Zeraora, and
Mimikyu

Item Reason: To keep it healthy as the only form of recovery it has

EV Spread

124 HP: Lets Excadrill have the ability to check a variety of stuff, being less prone to hazards, and also having some EVs available to help Excadrill in other areas.

48 defense: Lets Excadrill take u-turn from Corviknight into guts boosted Mach Punch from Conk after rocks 100% of the time. This investment also lets Excadrill eat some hits that aren't normally seen from a Excadrill like Hippowdon's Earthquake.

152 SpDef: Maximizes Excadrill's ability to take on special attacks like Draco Meteor and also live super effective moves from high hp to sneak in a hit or set up for the win.

184 Spd: This lets Excadrill outpace Zeraora after a rapid spin. You can make Excadrill outpace Rotom Heat if needed by taking away some SpDef and making Excadrill 240+ speed, in return you'll takes away some of Excadrill's ability to check stuff.

Mandibuzz

Item: Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Foul Play
- Roost
- U-turn
- Defog

Roles Filled

• Defog user

• General ghost and dark type check

• Ground immunity

• Bulky pivot

Item Reason: To make it immune to stealth rocks which makes it easier to defog and check threats.

EV Spread

• 248 HP: Even with boots there is always a chance of knock off happening so keeping Mandibuzz at a odd number lets it not worry as much if it gets knocked off. This also makes full use of Mandibuzz's bulk.

8 Def: Filler

252 SpDef: Maximizes Madnibuzz's ability to take hits from Hydreigon, Gengar, and other special attackers.

Weavile

Item: Black Glasses
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard/Low Kick
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance

Roles Filled

• Win condition without sun

• Speed control

• Dragon Killer

• Knock user

• Wall breaker

Item Reason: Boost knock off without recoil.

EV spread

252 Atk: Weavile hits as hard as possible with this investment, very needed.

4 SpDef: Filler

252 Spd: Makes sure Weavile outspeeds pokemon pike Ribombee, Cinderace, and speed tie with Weavile.

Threats

Fire Types: Rotom Heat is the main one as it can destroy your whole team. Some games when you don't have sun up you can use Necrozma to set up on Rotom Heat if not toxic. Careful of discharge. Pokemon like Cinderace and Darmanitan are very annoying but Torkoal is a ok switch-in early game if needed.

Broken Stuff: Like anything broken, the broken stuff will put in work regardless of the pokemon it's facing

Strengths and Weaknesses

• This sun team is very consistent in this meta as there are many win conditions along with many ways to defensively and offensively check pokemon.

• Not always going to overwhelm with pure power, it takes at least some skill to use.

• Many games Necrozma or Weavile are absurdly good and even just win on preview. Venusaur also gets this from time to time.

• Knock Off cripples every pokemon on the team to some degree

• The variety of how you can win games makes it easy to have a backup plan to every game at least

• Status can really stink, although Venusaur and Excadrill do absorb most pokemon who have a one status they can inflict, most of those pokemon a chance of having another status they can inflict. Toxapex is a perfect example with Scald+Toxic/Bunker.

Ladder stuffs:

Current Max ELO: 1917, hit 1900+ other times too.
