Introduction
This is my first RMT. I'm from Switzerland and english is not my native language so please excuse any grammar mistakes. My team is based on http://www.smogon.com/forums/thread...offical-rmt-and-b-w-baton-pass-guide.3489726/ this Guide/RMT. I'm currently on a ranking of 1904 on PS with this team, the peak was somewhere between 1920-1930.
The idea of my team is simple:
1. Boost Speed with Scolipede
2. Boost both Defense Stats
3. Sweep with Stored Power from Espeon
The Team
Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 8 SDef / 248 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Acid Armor
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
My main physical wall. Most of the time, Vaporeon is the first Pokemon coming in after Scolipede's Speed Boosts. Acid Armor is there to boost Defense, Scald stops it from being Taunt bait and Substitute because Vaporeon makes huge 130 Base HP Substitutes.
Scolipede @ Mental Herb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Spd / 248 HP / 8 SDef
Timid Nature
- Baton Pass
- Iron Defense
- Substitute
- Protect
As my lead, Scolipede does everything Ninjask did in previous gens but better. The goal is to reach +4 (x3) Speed, as this helps my team outspeeding almost anything significant. Scolipede is actually pretty bulky and sometimes I go for the Iron Defense first turn against not to hard hitting physical attackers. Substitute and Protect are obviously there to gather Speed Boosts. Mental Herb stops Taunt.
Mawile @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Spd / 212 Def
Impish Nature
- Baton Pass
- Iron Defense
- Taunt
- Play Rough
Mawile is my second physical Wall. Intimidate and the bulk of his Mega-Form really help in dealing with strong physical attackers. I would really like to put Substitute somewhere on his moveset, but I'm not sure what to replace. Taunt is really nice because it gives me another option against phazers other than Espeon. Play Rough is there to kill Dragons and some other things Espeon has trouble handling like Assault Vest Tyranitar and also because I feel that the huge Attack stat of Mega Mawile is wasted otherwise.
Espeon @ Red Card
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Bold Nature
- Baton Pass
- Stored Power
- Substitute
- Dazzling Gleam
The Sweeper of my team. After some boosts Stored Power just OHKOs everything not Dark-Type. Dazzling Gleam is there for coverage and really helps killing those Dark-Types. Substitute is also nice to have and protects me from Sucker Punch crits. Red Card is my main method of dealing with strong stat boosters like Aegislash and it also helps against other Baton Pass Teams. Morning Sun would be an option on this set, because Espeon lacks recovery.
Gorebyss @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 248 HP / 28 Spd / 232 SDef
Calm Nature
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
- Amnesia
- Aqua Ring
The main reason Gorebyss is in my team is because I felt that sometimes Calm Mind is just not fast enough to deal with Special Attackers and Gorebyss is the only decent Pokemon with access to Amnesia and Baton Pass (Mew is not available until Pokebank and has similiar weaknesses to Mr. Mime). Aqua Ring provides faster recovery for the whole team.
Mr. Mime @ Leftovers
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SDef / 8 Def
Calm Nature
- Baton Pass
- Encore
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
Mr. Mime is my Special Wall, capable of taking any non-SE special hit. He also provides so much utility for this team. He's immune to sound-based moves which now bypass Substitue, Soundproof also is my only method of dealing with Perish Song other than Taunt from Mawile. Thanks to newly added Fairy-Type, Mr. Mime is also immune to Dragon Tail, and he can set-up on Encore-locked Dragon Moves.
Threat List
- Talonflame: Priority Brave Bird really hurts especially if it's running Swords Dance
- Curse Trevenant: Curse gets passed on by Baton Pass and does huge damage every turn. To be honest, I have no idea how to handle this, but it's not too common
- Pranksters: Obviously Prankster are a big threat to my team, but most of the time I can handle them with Espeon and Substitutes. I think there's no answer to Prankster Perish Song Murkrow, but luckily I haven't faced one yet
- Sacred Sword Aegislash: Sacred Sword ignores Defensive Stat Boosts. Espeon survives a +6 Sacred Sword and can throw him out with Red Card but this only works one time.
- Encore/Taunt: Sometimes I fail to predict those moves and if that happens it's really hard to get out of it
- Haze: Haven't encountered it yet, but I think my only chance would be to kill the Haze user as fast as possible
- Probably more, but right now I can't think of them
