Pre-Pokebank OU Volt Turn Team

hello all, i have not played any pokemon games since gold/silver, so i have missed out on alot of pokemon from gens 3-5. Since i have no way to transfer any of my old pokemons over, im thinking of using a team of pokemon only obtainable in Gen 6, here is what i have so far:

212-m.png

Scizor (Scizor-Mega) @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- U-turn

Standard bulky scizor who is the first pokemon i try to strategize to sweep with. Rotom-W, Greninja, talonflame and Hydreigon are there to get rid of Scizor's checks. If sweeping isnt possible with scizor (enemy team is full of pokemon which just do not fall for scizor's bullet punch tactics), it will be used as a bulky pivot. Scizor also keeps mega gengar and mega aerodactyl in check, as they outspeed the rest of the team and will destroy them.

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- U-turn

Extremely versatile pivot I use to scout enemy choices and playstyle. Hydro pump is greninja's hardest hitting attack and kills any fire types that would otherwise threaten Scizor, it does have issues powering through a quiver danced volcarona in the sun, but i have talonflame in team to handle it. Hydro pump also comfortably OHKOs assault vested Excadrill to stop it from rapid spinning or denting/outright killing anyone else.Dark pulse OHKOs the more threatening and speedy psychic/ghost types that the other pokemon in the team can have trouble with, most importantly non-mega gengar, life orb alakazam and starmie (before it can rapid spin). Ice beam has great coverage against various threats in the OU, namely dragons like hydreigon (OHKO), flying types like togekiss (2HKO), and grass-type pokemon who think they can safely switch into greninja.

Despite the timid nature, U-turn can still hit hard, OHKO-ing alakazam, and denting tyranitar. If the enemy team no longer has bulky waters, priority users, or anyone to outspeed greninja, greninja can also be a potent back-up late game sweeper.

Some numbers:
252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Excadrill: 377-447 (104.4 - 123.8%)
252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Dark Pulse vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Gengar: 369-437 (140.8 - 166.7%)
252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Dark Pulse vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Alakazam: 304-359 (120.6 - 142.4%)
252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Dark Pulse vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Starmie: 330-393 (125.9 - 150%)
252 SpA Life Orb Protean Greninja Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Hydreigon: 354-421 (108.9 - 129.5%)
252 SpA Life Orb Protean Greninja Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Togekiss: 213-252 (56.9 - 67.3%)
4- Atk Life Orb Protean Greninja U-turn vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Alakazam: 320-377 (126.9 - 149.6%)
4- Atk Life Orb Protean Greninja U-turn vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 156-187 (38.6 - 46.2%)

Talonflame @ Life Orb
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 196 HP / 252 Atk / 60 Spd
Adamant Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SAtk / 30 Spd
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- U-turn

Standard talonflame, brave bird sweep with flare blitz to handle slow/bulky steel types that would wall talonflame, Talonflame is also one of my 2 main sources of fire damage to handle ferrothorn, enemy scizors and forretress. I chose priority roost over swords dance as I felt that life orb and it's 2 main attacks do too much recoil damage and made talon flame's presence short lived, roost will help keep it in the game for a little bit longer.

Forretress will be kept alive as long as possible to rapid spin stealth rocks away to so that talonflame can safely switch in without half of it's health getting eaten. One of the 2 main sources of fire damage in the team, to get rid of pesky steel types that will wall Scizor. Also prevents scolipede/ninjask/etc from baton passing at all (been facing alot of scolipedes recently). Talonflame mainly acts as a revenge killer, killing off weakened pokemon with priority brave bird, however, it can also act as another back-up late game sweeper if its checks are gone (Tyranitar especially).

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 SAtk / 30 Spd
- Dark Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- U-turn

Special Attacker to threaten steel types, psychic/ghost types and physical walls. Dark Pulse and Draco meteor are the STAB attacks of choice. Draco meteor scares alot of pokemon off, and synergizes well with U-turn to keep the offensive pressure up. I chose fireblast because the team lacks any reliable form of fire damage if stealth rocks are still up (talonflame wont want to come out with stealth rocks in play until i can spin it off), which can also OHKO skarmory. Thank's to it's moveset, it is completely vulnerable to fairy type pokemon. Most of which can be handled by Scizor, however, rotom-W can also take on Azumarril and Togekiss.

Forretress @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Lax Nature
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Volt Switch

Typically starts the battles as the lead; a very crucial pokemon to the team thanks to the fact that he has stealth rock, rapid spin and volt switch in its moveset. He puts up stealth rocks, so that the enemy takes residual damage each time they try to react to any of my u-turns or volt switches. Rapid spin gets rid of enemy entry hazards which can severely slow down the overall team strategy of rapidly switching around with volt switches/u-turns. Earthquake is there mainly to punish excadrill and aegislash who try to set up in front of it, cleanly 2HKOing excadrill, and 2-3HKOing aegislash depending on what he does, and because forretress is slower than aegislash, it will always attack it in sword-form if aegislash decides to attack.

some numbers:
0 Atk Forretress Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Excadrill: 200-236 (55.4 - 65.3%)
0 Atk Forretress Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Shield: 94-112 (29 - 34.5%)
0 Atk Forretress Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aegislash-Blade: 228-270 (70.3 - 83.3%)
+2 252+ Atk Aegislash-Blade Sacred Sword vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Forretress: 136-161 (38.4 - 45.4%)

Rotom-Wash @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Rest
- Volt Switch

My fall-back plan whenever something threatening looms over, because it keeps alot of pokemon in check, and most of them are crucial pokemon that can either sweep this team, or stop the team in their tracks. Hydro pump is the STAB of choice, while volt switch is the secondary STAB. Rotom lacks any reliable recovery, so I rely on rest + chesto berry to keep it healthy, it also removes status ailments which is good. Thanks to it's typing, it does not fear fire-type attackers, and will-o-wisp cripples non-fire physical attackers that may pose a threat to the team.

This pokemon is the answer to several main threats to the team: mega aerodactyl (if scizor is pinned down), talonflame, Azumarril and Aegislash, all of whom either destroys my sweepers before they can move, or walls them considerably and still manage to OHKO/2HKO them. Rotom-W on the other hand, turns the tables on them, with hydro pump being able to OHKO mega aerodactyl and talonflame after stealth rock, volt switch cleanly 2HKOing mega aerodactyl and azumarril after stealth rock (Or OHKOing post-bellydrum azumarril) and and OHKOing talonflame after stealth rock. Rotom handles aegislash by applying burn on it, crippling it enough for anyone else to safely switch into it and finish it off.

some numbers:
4 SpA Rotom-W Hydro Pump vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Mega Aerodactyl: 258-306 (85.4 - 101.3%)
4 SpA Rotom-W Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Aerodactyl: 164-194 (54.4 - 64.4%)
