So, i've started playing gen 6's OU but i'm feeling that i'm stuck in gen 5. I would like you to suggest me how to improve my team, since i'm getting troubled defensively by fighting and earth types, and the lack of fire power is a problem too.
Right now this is the team i'm using:
Alakazam (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Focus Blast
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball
- Calm Mind
This is one of my favorites, it's high SAtk and Spd is just awesome, and the way it can take down both kind of walls is something i like too. I was running a Life orb set, but usually got 1HKOd before i could do anything, so i changed to focus sash and is working pretty well. Also it's ability allow him to take pretty obvious status changes like Rotom's WoW or Gliscor's toxic. and, if he can get a Calm mind is even better. I'm overall happy with he as sweeper, but i've been thinking in change him for a more bulky SAtacker such as Togekiss or Sigilyph.
Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Recover
- Scald
- Toxic
- Ice Beam
I feel that i just should switch Gastrodon, the lacking of earth power prebank is a pretty sad, it's very useful that it can take pretty well fire attacks (specially talonflame's) and being immune to water can be very useful too. But I just find that it can't do anything besides take some hits or cause a lucky burn. For now i think that maybe Gliscor can do more. At least while it can get earth power (pretty useful to take MGengar down)
Lucario @ Lucarionite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Bullet Punch
- Extreme Speed
- Swords Dance
And here is my Mega, i found Lucario to be the pokemon with the most synergy with my sand team from all, he's damage is pretty high, and the prioritys are the best part (Extreme Speed is so useful against Talonflame) However it usually can't stand a hit. Almost any attack 1HKOs him, so i'm seriously thinking if maybe Mega Mawile can do more in my team, specially because she is way more bulky and gives my team the fairy moves it is lacking. But i'm not gonna lie, i've read a little about gen 6's metagame, and almost everyone are saying that this gen's viable megas are: Gengar, Lucario, Blaziken and Kangha, the other's being good but "not worth the mega spot" Is this true guys? This is one of the reasons i want to try Mega Mawile out.
Tyranitar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Naughty Nature
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Fire Blast
This is the only one i know i'm not going to swith, he is a very good damage dealer and bulky, the fire blast is something they usually don't spect, but the only question i've had with him is his set. I've seen CB, CS and assault vest's sets, and since i really love the SDef bonus i don't know if it is really worth the lack SR on it, but it isn't such a big deal since Ferro got it.
Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Sword Dance
- Earthquake
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide
The only reason i have this guy is for Rapid Spin, truth spoken. I wanted to use something else instead of him (like Gliscor) but my team just couln't stand all those entry hazards (specially now that i see sticky web smeargle everywhere) and that Gliscor can't get defog till pokebank, though it can be very useful when it comes to rotomW (now that it seems to be everywhere too) sadly it can get burned in the process, this one being another issue in my team: the lack of a supportmon (when i ran the rain team in gen V i loved vaporeon for that).
Ferrothorn (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
- Protect
- Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
This one particulary has a name: Anti-Kanghaskan, basically the only reason i have this guy in my team, he just destroys the double hit from MegaKanghaskan, something that is so useful, however this gen i found him not THAT useful as before, but really don't want to change him for now. My main doubt its it's moveset, should i replace protect for thunderwave? or maybe for Gyroball? power whip can be very useful, but i don't know if it is worth it.
My biggest problem is that i don't know which one to replace because everyone seem so useful in different situations, like ferro for MKangha or Excadrill against RotomW.
