Introductions are in order...or at least re-introducing myself?
I lost the email and the password to my old account, razoredgey, and after a 2 year hiatus from competitive play I wanted to return to breed/trade/battle and possibly create a gaming youtube account. Pokemon has always been my favorite game, even now my girlfriend has me playing the card game with her on our down time. One word for my return - nostalgia. I may be rusty with team building so bare with me and please give reasoning behind your fixes. Anyways let's get on with the team.
I will add images to the OP soon.
Smeargle @ Focus Sash
Ability : Own Tempo
Nature : Jolly
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spe / 4 Def
-Spore
-Sticky Web
-Stealth Rocks
-Spikes
Smeargle becomes that annoying lead who craves a turn or two to set up. Focus Sash allows you to survive and get a Spore off so you can lay down a web then your additional entry hazards. With the hazards down that leaves your opponent at a disadvantage. I feel that the strategy of entry hazards and TurnVolt, MegaKhan can easily pick teams apart.
Scolipede @ Black Sludge
Ability : Speed Boost
Nature : Jolly
EVs : 248 HP / 36 Atk / 56 Def / 168 Spe
-Swords Dance
-Substitute
-Baton Pass
-Megahorn
This is the prelude into the MegaKhan. The EVs look all over the place, but on paper they look like good investments to make Scolipede more bulky so it can set up a Swords Dance + Speed Boost and switch into MegaKhan. The Megahorn is a nice 120 base move that is boosted by STAB. The Substitute pairs nicely with Khan's Scrappy Ability. If you predict a switch in to a Ghost type, you can hit the Pokemon with a Power-Up Punch and the proceed to follow up with a Sucker Punch with confidence that if the switch did not happen, you let the Sub eat the damage. Baton Pass is the glue to this strategy.
Kangaskhan @ Kangaskhanite
Ability : Scrappy
MegaAbility : Parental Bond
Nature : Adamant
EVs : 252 Spe / 252 Atk / 4 Hp
-Sucker Punch
-Power-Up Punch
-Earthquake
-Return
As I read in the X/Y thread for this guy, it is literally the Wrath of Khan. Getting a +2 from Power-Up Punch is clutch and if you predict correctly, you can use the Scrappy ability to hit a Ghost and then MegaEvolve to follow up with a Sucker Punch. The Return is there for STAB and plus some time in Pokemon Amie could be time well invested with Khan. Earthquake becomes 120 power with Parental Bond, which is huge. This thing is cute as a MegaEvo and a sweeper.
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability : Protean
Nature : Timid
EVs : 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Dark Pulse
-Hydro Pump
-Ice Beam
-U-Turn
Part of the TurnVolt combo, and having STAB on all of its moves and such high speed, this guy comes into play to put damage out in conjunction with Rotom-W. The entry hazards pair nicely with him as they allow him to continue to out speed things hit by the Sticky Web, and with STAB on all attacks, he can potentially OHKO a Pokemon.
Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Ability : Levitate
Nature : Modest
EVs : 232 HP / 56 SpA / 220 Spe
-Volt Switch
-Hydro Pump
-Will-o-Whisp
-Pain Split
The last part of the TurnBolt, the Volt Switcher. The HP invested into it, leftovers, and Pain Split allows it to eat damage and dish out STAB damage. Will-o-Whisp adds to more pressure on the opponent with entry hazards and makes it easier for MegaKhan to put in work. Bulky Rotom-W has always been a favorite of mine and now with Azumaril’s popularity, I can feel good about using him in most of my teams.
Gengar @ Black Sludge
Ability : Levitate
Nature : Modest
EVs : 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast
-Thunder Bolt
-Disable
Serving as a spin blocker is Gengar. Disable shuts off Rapid Spin if Gengar cannot already OHKO the spinner. Modest nature allows for more of a hit with T-Bolt/Shadow Ball/Focus Blast covering more types. I do fear fairy type switch ins and I am thinking of replacing Gengar for another Pokemon in it’s slot.
Some concerns:
-The EV spreads.
-How to adjust this team post PokeBank.
-Is there a better choice for Gengar’s/Greninja’s slots post PokeBank?
-Fairies.
Thank you for reading.
