Hi guys, I just recenty registered here and am here to post my 1st RMT " Prince Charming in a tale of fairies and dragons."
My team is based around 1 of the dominant weathers of OU, rain and it is mainly centralized on offence. It peaked at 1501
on PO server which i play on and I hope I can get suggestions to further improve it. I gave my team such a title as the
members of it are symbolic of those that you often see in a fairytale-fairies, dragons and ogres. Without further ado, I
present my team.
Prince Charming
Politoed @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
Modest, 252 HP/252 SpA/4 Def
-Surf/Hydro Pump
-Ice Beam
-Focus Blast
-Hypnosis
Politoed resembles Prince Charming as it managed to rise from NU in 4th gen all the way up to OU in 5th Gen because of its
new ability, akin to how a frog turns into a prince. I chose the Choice Specs set as the scarf set doesn't give me enough
power to OHKO and revenge kill many threats. Hydro Pump can be used instead of Surf for a boost in power to KO things like
Reuniclus, Machamp etc that Surf is unable to do. I am using Hypnosis instead of HP Grass as I feel that HP grass just
doesn't hit hard enough on many bulky waters and they are best left to other members of my team to deal with. Hypnosis,
albeit its low accuracy, gives me a chance to shut down 1 Pokemon of the opponent's team which is more useful in my
opinion.
Grass Fairy
Celebi @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
Timid, 252 SpA/252 Spe/4 HP
-Nasty Plot
-HP Fire
-Giga Drain
-Psychic
Celebi, the grass fairy helps to handle the bulky waters common in OU, being able to set up on not only most of them but
also on Ferrothorn as well. Celebi handles Gastrodon/Quagsire who can both wall my other set up fairy and counters the
washing machine which is a huge threat against rain teams. Life Orb maximizes its attacking capabilities while giga drain
will heal off the recoil damage. I picked Psychic as my 3rd coverage move so as to allow Celebi to handle the likes of
Tentacruel, Toxicroak and the prevalent fighting types more effectively, while providing it with STAB at the same time. HP
Fire is there so that it won't be a sitting duck in face againt Scizor as after 1 Nasty Plot, HP Fire can still score a KO
on Scizor in the rain.
Mr. Ogre
Conkeldurr @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
Adamant, 252 ATK/252 SpD/4 HP
-Drain Punch
-Mach Punch
-Bulk Up
-Stone Edge/Payback
Conkeldurr, the huge ogre who guards the Prince assists with handling the other weather inducers of OU, Tyranitar,
Ninetales and Abomasnow. Drain Punch and Stone Edge hits all 3 of them for super effective damage. It also checks the
Mole in the sand, preventing it from sweeping my team. It is good for switching in onto 1 layer of Toxic spikes or when i
predict a status move coming to give it a Guts Boost. I chose a specially defensive spread so that it can sponge special
hits better as its defense stat will be boosted through Bulk Up. I prefer Stone Edge over Payback as it not only hits
Ninetales for 2x damage, it also scores an OHKO on Volcarona and hit many flying types hard as i find them commonly
switching into Conkeldurr other than the usual physical walls like Gliscor. The only downside of Stone Edge would be its
low accuracy which may prove to be fatal to my ogre if it misses at the critical moment.
Dragon of the sky
Dragonite @ Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
Jolly, 252 ATK/252 Spe/4 HP
-Outrage
-Brick Break
-Fire Punch
-Dragon Dance
Dragonite, 1 of the 2 dragons of the sky is often my lead against lead Tyranitars. With Multiscale, it easily gets 1 DD up
most of the time. At +1, Brick Break OHKOs Tyranitar except those holding a Chople Berry. It also allows me to brick the
screens of set up screeners at the same time. Fire Punch OHKOs Scizor without any boost if rain isn't up too. Not only
that, it pairs well with my other fairy as both of them cover each others weaknesses pretty well. Lum Berry is there to
allow it to recover from the confusion due to Outrage or to give me a free DD if the opponent attempts to status Dragonite
instead. At +1, Dragonite puts a dent into most teams and its almost unstoppable at +2 barring a few steels in the rain
which my ogre and fairy can handle.
Dragon of the sky
Latios @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
Timid, 252 SpA/252 Spe/4HP
-Draco Meteor
-Thunder
-Surf
-Psyshock
Latios, the 2nd dragon of the sky's slot, was originally meant for Kingdra, the dragon of the sea. However, since PO went
for a test ban on Swizzle, I had to replace Kingdra and I decided to use Latios to replace Kingdra. Although it doesn't
have the speed of a Swift Swimmer and the power of Kingdra's Hydro Pump, Latios tries to make up for it with the hardest
hitting Draco Meteor in OU and a larger coverage movepool. Thunder and Surf is there to abuse the rain, while Psyshock lets
me hit the fat bitch hard on her switch in. It pairs well with Conkeldurr as Conkeldurr handles the threats such as Tyranitar
and Scizor that Latios is afraid of and hits the steels that resists its Dragon STAB hard.
Star Fairy
Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
Bold, 252 HP/220 Def/36 Spe
-Substitute
-Calm Mind
-Thunder
-Water Pulse
Jirachi, the star fairy uses a SubCM/Parafusion set to boost its SpA and SpD allowing it to pull off a sweep. 252 HP is
there to make 101 hp subs so I can set up easily on Blisseys. I chose a physically defensive set as it allows me to take
hits better while i boost my special defense so that I can set up more easily with ease. 36 Speed EVs is there to allow me
to reach 245 Speed. This prevents opposing 72 Speed Gliscors from breaking my Sub with Earthquake 1st so that I can attack
with Water Pulse before them. However, I have to ensure that the opposing team's Quagsire/Gastrodon is down which is
handled by Celebi, before I send in Jirachi to set up as both of them will be able to wall Jirachi and waste my previous
efforts in setting up.
So..yea, this is my team. I know that I don't have any hazards being set up but I can't find a slot for someone to set up hazards
which makes opposing multiscale dragonites a pain. Also, I find myself having trouble with Haxorus as when it comes in, it often
means I would lose a member or two on my team. Any suggestions to improve it is greatly appreciated, thanks.
