ASB Handbook: This massive document holds the answer to practically every question you might have about game mechanics. It's denser than Dogfish44's abs, so I wouldn't recommend trying to read all of it. Just CTRL + F if you have a specific question.
Tutoring Program: Probably the best way to get used to game mechanics. An experienced player (lol) will teach you the ropes and battle against you to help get you some battling experience.
IRC: You've already found this. The vast majority of our active players are on this chat, and they'd be happy to answer any questions you have, give you battling tips, or fight against you if you ask. We've also got a great IRC bot. You can type in !asbmove (move), !asbstats (pokemon), !asbility (ability), or !asbitem (item) to get data for those moves/pokemon/abilities/items at your fingertips.
