While searching for a place to get some lunch, you see a fast food restaurant on your map. It's about half a mile from where you are, so you head over. Once you arrive, however, the place seems deserted. A sign reads 'Scrafty's Subs', but the words are faded and barely readable. You hear sounds from inside, and you walk closer out of curiosity. Suddenly a young man and a Flygon walk out of the door carrying several rusted chairs towards a garbage disposal nearby. It takes the man a second to notice you. "Oh, hey there! Didn't expect anyone to come here." They reach their destination and toss the chairs inside. "Sorry, we're really busy cleaning this place up. Isn't it awesome? I bought it two weeks ago. They sold it to me for really cheap, too. Said there's a Scatterbug infestation or whatever." Just then, a loud roar came from inside the building. Several dozen Scatterbug skitter away from inside, followed by an angry Smokomodo trying to hit them with a Flamethrower. "Ahaha... I mean, there WAS an infestation. I'm Marz, by the way. You're looking at the base of operations for my BBP activity! I have some time to show you around, if you'd like. We've got food too, if you're hungry. Scout, let everyone know we've got a visitor!"

The Scullery
Marz leads you through a few doors until you reach a room which you can tell used to be a kitchen. "This is where I'll be storing all my things," he explains. "There's tons of room, since we got rid of most of the dishes." Dozens of empty shelves sit on the walls. One is in use, however, and you notice several pairs of glasses, a half eaten snack, and figurines of the Loyal Three all sitting on the shelf, among other things. A scroll with foreign writing on it also hangs on the wall. "Feel free to hang out here, sandwiches are in that cabinet. I'm gonna check on the Pokémon really quick. Be back soon!"

The Archives
You wait a while, but Marz has yet to return. A room across the hall catches your attention. Peeking inside, you're surprised to see that the only things inside are two bookshelves. One contains your typical selection, with nothing in particular catching your interest. But the other contains an almost endless supply of journals, with a few DVDs on the highest shelf. Most of the journals are empty, but the first three contain a complete history of Marz's BBP journey so far.

Eventually Marz comes back.. "There you are! I... definitely did NOT get lost or anything... Anyways, the Pokémon are outside in the back." Marz leads you out back, where the remains of a fast food playground lie. Marz's team is spread out around the area, each Pokémon keeping busy. Some work on cleaning, some walk over to greet you, and some lay down to rest. "They're all really friendly, if you get to know them. Who do you wanna hear about first?"

"These three have been at my side since the very beginning. I mean, 'the very beginning' wasn't all that long ago, but I still appreciate these guys."

Profile: Scout is a natural leader who inspires every Pokémon on her team. She usually maintains a positive attitude, and is known to have a bit of a mischievous streak. However, Scout knows when to get serious, and during battle it shows. She can get overexcited when doing well in a fight, but generally keeps cool.
History: Marz met Scout while he was wandering around the desert he and his family called home. A sandstorm the likes of which he had never seen kicked up, but suddenly sand shifted beneath him, and he fell into a pit built by the Pokémon. At first, Marz was upset at the Trapinch, only thinking about the pain of the fall and how the creature almost chuckles as he fell in. Then, he realized he was sheltered from the sandstorm while in the pit. Weeks later, he spotted the Trapinch again, practicing her Earthquake attack. Marz hadn't trained a Pokémon before, but he'd read all about it, and decided to repay her for potentially saving his life, allowing her to master the move. Marz realized how much fun it was to grow stronger alongside your Pokémon, so he asked the Trapinch to join him as he left the desert for the first time, beginning his journey. After some BBP experience, Scout grew stronger, becoming a Flygon.
Name Origins: Scout the Flygon has been a part of a few of my teams in the mainline Pokémon games, so I essentially just ported her to BBP.

Profile: Valerie is quite lazy, but does great work when motivated. Recently however, upon evolving into Cinccino, Valerie has become more determined during battles, and puts more effort into things than before.
History: Valerie was one of the dozens of Minccino that had the job of cleaning the desert mansion where Marz's family lived. Unlike most of her species, she despised cleaning, and Marz was the only one that could motivate her to do... anything really. One day, Marz came home with the recently captured Scout and announced that he was going on a journey. Desperate to escape a lifetime of washing dishes, Valerie said goodbye to her brothers and sisters before jumping onto Marz's shoulder, much to his amusement.
During her first battles in BBP, Valerie struggled a bit, to the point where she wanted to quit battling altogether. However, her trainer's encouragement and newfound confidence allowed her to evolve into Cinccino.
Name Origins: Named after Valerie the Exploud, the hero of my Pokémon Ruby Nuzlocke last year. She hit 3 critical hits in a row while fighting Steven, then unfortunately perished due to my incompetence as a trainer. She will never be forgotten, and lives on as this Cinccino.

"Why does Marz feel the need to put unnecessary text here...?"

Profile: Midori is quite a mysterious figure. It's been in a deep rest for around 200 years, and awoke to a time period unfamiliar to it. However, it still gets along with other Pokémon, even if it doesn't communicate much. Strangely, Midori seems to be aware of its existence on Smogon as part of a text-based fangame, and constantly breaks the fourth wall in regards to this.
History: Just before Marz left his home in the desert, his parents had one thing to give him. He was excited for his journey and wasn't paying much attention, but his parents told him their family's history, including how they had fled their original home of Kitakami 200 years ago, and made a new home for themselves, building the very mansion they stood in. Finally, they presented Marz with a Poltchageist that had supposedly belonged to his great-great-great-great-great grandfather. He gratefully accepted the Pokémon and set off. Being burned alive by a Numel allowed it to evolve into a Sinistcha.
Name Origins: Midori (緑) is Japanese for green.

Profile: Kīlauea has quite a short fuse, easily thrown into a rage at the slightest irritation. This proves to be a blessing and a curse during battle. Even so, he cares deeply about teammates who have earned his respect.
History: Marz first encountered Kīlauea in the Safari Zone. In order to avoid capture, he was locked into an intense battle with Scout. Eventually, he emerged victorious, but supposedly it was such an intense and exciting fight that he agreed to join Marz's team.
Name Origins: Kīlauea Volcano is one of the world's most active volcanoes, located in Hawaii. The word Kīlauea is a Hawaiian word which means 'spewing' or 'spreading'.

Profile: Miku is extremely selfless, and cares for her teammates more than anything else. She enjoys singing, and has a great voice. All the Pokémon on Marz's team look up to her as a sort of motherly figure. She becomes distressed whenever something doesn't go according to plan or when another Pokémon misbehaves, but is quite forgiving. A win for a teammate is a win for Miku.
History: After losing her first BBP match, Valerie became upset and attempted to run away from Marz and return to the desert. She didn't get very far apparently, and a day later Miku appeared at Marz's doorstep holding an unconscious Valerie in her hands. Once the Minccino awoke, she was still upset, but Miku talked to her and convinced her to stay with her trainer. Marz thanked them both and offered Miku a place on his team, to which she politely accepted.
Name Origins: Kind of a Hatsune Miku reference? I honestly just liked the name and was going to pick it anyway but then I realized I could make it a reference so I did.
