[OVERVIEW]
Urshifu-R is a metagame-defining wallbreaker and cleaner thanks to its amazing Attack stat and synergistic, high base power STAB combo. Its ability to constantly force switches, break through would-be checks with just the slightest bit of chip damage, and bring in other partners via U-turn makes it a huge boon to offensive teams, while its good item flexibility allows it to tailor its set depending on the team's needs. Urshifu-R isn't without its issues though; for one, the number of Pokemon that can threaten it or wall it are notable. Urshifu-R has a mediocre 97 Speed stat, meaning Pokemon like Garchomp and Kartana out speed it and, as such, leaving it vulnerable to revenge killing attempts constantly. Its STAB combo is also resisted by some of the best Water-type walls in the metagame, namely Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Slowbro, while its reliance on is exploitable with Static, Flame Body, Rocky Helmet, Iron Barbs, and Rough Skin. Despite these issues, Urshifu-R remains one of the strongest Pokemon in the metagame, pairing phenomenally with other staples like Weavile, Tapu Koko and Blacephalon.

Set Description
=========

Protective Pads Urshifu-R is one of the tier's an incredibly scary pivot thanks to its great Attack, good bulk, and incredible STABs that still hit hard even without a Choice Band boost. Surging Strikes threatens Water-weak Pokemon like Landorus-T and Victini, while Close Combat can threaten a myriad of Pokemon in the tier, such as Steel-types like Melmetal, Ferrothorn, and Kartana, Dark-types like Weavile and Tyranitar, and less bulky neutral targets like Volcanion and Gastrodon. U-turn allows Urshifu-R to bring in a teammate while scouting what the opponent does while chipping walls like Slowbro and Rotom-W. Taunt is typically preferred in the final moveslot, as it allows Urshifu-R to shut down healing moves from Clefable, Buzzwole, and Corviknight, Stealth Rock and Spikes from Ferrothorn, and status moves like Toxic from Garchomp and Skarmory and Thunder Wave from Ferrothorn and Clefable. However, Aqua Jet gives Urshifu-R a much-beloved priority move that allows it to remove weakened threats like Blacephalon, Volcarona, and Blaziken who could otherwise potentially snowball out of control. Protective Pads prevents Urshifu-R from taking chip damage from Garchomp's Rough Skin, Ferrothorn's Iron Barbs, and Rocky Helmet users like Corviknight, Slowbro and Buzzwole along with completely avoiding Flame Body burns from Volcarona and Heatran and Static paralysis from Zapdos, allowing it to more freely use attacks versus these Pokemon. Protective Pads Urshifu-R can be extremely effective when playing as if it is another set, so bluffing in the early game versus Pokemon that cannot outright OHKO it or handle these other sets like Weavile and slightly chipped Corviknight can go a long way; however, Urshifu-R's sheer power means this isn't required.

Team Options
========

Urshifu-R fits best on bulky offense and balance teams that can make the most of its strengths, so wallbreakers like Weavile, Dragapult, and Tapu Lele can go a long way to help wallbreak while also threatening Pokemon that would otherwise give Urshifu-R trouble, such as Slowbro, Corviknight, Tapu Fini, and Toxapex; in return, Urshifu-R can help deal with the Fire- and Steel-types that give these two trouble, such as Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Volcarona. Tapu Koko in particular is a phenomenal partner due to it threatening Buzzwole and the Water-types that wall Urshifu-R like Toxapex, Tapu Fini, and Slowbro, while Urshifu-R answers Ferrothorn and Ground-types like Landorus-T and Hippowdon for Tapu Koko. Urshifu-R compliments well with Spikes users like Ferrothorn and Skarmory since they can help chip checks to Urshifu-R like Tapu Fini and Buzzwole. Similarly, Knock Off users like Landorus-T and Weavile can remove important items like Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers from defensive targets like Tornarus-T, Buzzwole, and Tapu Fini to help Urshifu-R in combination with hazard support from the aforementioned Spikes setters and Stealth Rock users like Garchomp and Landorus-T. Future Sight users like Slowbro, Tapu Lele, and Galarian Slowking can help Urshifu-R wallbreak, as many of the Pokemon that wall it like Toxapex, Tapu Fini, Buzzwole despise Future Sight while many teams simply lack the resources to use another Pokemon to answer the combination of the two. Trappers like Heatran and Whirlpool Tapu Fini compound well with Urshifu-R, targetting the Water-types that Urshifu-R despises like Toxapex and Slowbro; Tapu Fini can also threaten Dragonite with both Whirlpool and Moonblast. Dragapult in particular can cause Urshifu-R issues due to its Dragon/Ghost type resisting all of its moves while threatening an OHKO with Draco Meteor and Thunderbolt; henceforth, teammates that can reduce its pressure like Ferrothorn, Assault Vest Tornadus-T, and Melmetal can decrease its potency. In a similar vein, Electric-types like Tapu Koko and Zapdos can give Urshifu-R immense trouble, so answers to these threats like Ferrothorn, Landorus-T, and Hippowdon are essential.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Ice Punch on Choice Band sets can allow Urshifu-R to threaten Dragonite. However, this doesn't achieve much else, as Urshifu-R's STABs are already incredibly strong and sacrificing one of its key moves often does more harm than good. A Bulk Up set with Protective Pads and either Thunder Punch or Taunt can allow Urshifu-R to turn into a threatening stallbreaker if given the chance; however, the lack of U-turn means that Urshifu-R sacrifices its ability as an offensive pivot with this set and is vulnerable to the sheer number of faster threats and Choice Scarf users in the metagame even if it successfully sets up.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Toxapex, Slowbro, Rotom-W, and Tapu Fini can consistently switch into and force out Urshifu-R, with the latter three threatening heavy damage or OHKOes on it with their STAB moves. Rotom-W does have to be mindful of Close Combat while the others have to be wary of Choice Band-boosted Thunder Punch, especially Tapu Fini since it lacks reliable recovery, though.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types like Rillaboom, Kartana, and Ferrothorn all threaten Urshifu-R and resist its Surging Strikes, although Close Combat and U-turn heavily dent them if they so choose to directly switch in. Rillaboom and Kartana also have the added benefit of outspeeding Urshifu-R with Grassy Glide and natural speed respectively, while Ferrothorn can punish Urshifu-R if it makes an incorrect move thanks to its Ability Iron Barbs. Other bulky Grass-types like Tangrowth and Amoonguss can directly consistently switch into Urshifu-R consistently and punish it with Rocky Helmet, although they are much more niche.

**Contact Effects**: Contact effects from Rocky Helmet users like Buzzwole, Corviknight, Clefable, and Slowbro, Ferrothorn's Iron Barbs and Garchomp's Rough Skin, and status-inflicting abilities from Zapdos, Heatran, and Volcarona can cripple Urshifu-R if not careful, limiting its output considerably. Protective Pads can circumvent this issue entirely, though.

**Faster Threats**: Despite Urshifu-R's power, its Speed is incredibly middling without a Choice Scarf and leaves it vulnerable against faster Pokemon like Tornadus-T, Dragapult, Tapu Koko, and Zeraora.

[OVERVIEW]
Boasting incredible STAB attacks, a high Attack stat, and one of the best offensive STAB combos in the game in Fighting/Water (rewrite the first bit because you mentioned how great it STAB attacks are at the end, just mention how it has access to high BP/powerful attacks like Surging Strikes/CC there), Urshifu-R is a metagame-defining wallbreaker and cleaner. Its ability to constantly force switches, break through would-be checks with just the slightest bit of help chip damage, and bring in other partners via U-turn is almost unseen (just write how these traits are a boon to offensive teams), while its good item flexibility allows it to choose its strengths (something like 'tailor its set' sounds much smoother) depending on the team's needs. Urshifu-R isn't without its issues though; for one, the number of Pokemon that can threaten it or wall it are notable. Urshifu-R has a mediocre 97 Speed stat, not even allowing it to outspeed which is outsped by Pokemon like Garchomp and Kartana and, as such, leaving it open vulnerable to revenge killing attempts constantly. Its STAB combo is also resisted by some of the best Water-type walls in the meta (please do not use shorthand forms of words like metagame in analyses - you can refer to Spelling and Grammar Standards for more), namely Tapu Fini, Toxapex, and Slowbro, while its contact reliance on contact moves is exploitable with Static, Flame Body, Rocky Helmet, Iron Barbs, and Rough Skin all crippling Urshifu-R. Despite these issues, however, Urshifu-R remains one of the strongest Pokemon in the meta (likewise, use metagame instead), pairing phenomenally with other staples like Weavile, Tapu Koko, Blacephalon, Rillaboom, Landorus-T, and more (Cut the list of Pokemon - it's way too long. Something like 'with top offensive threats like Weavile and Tapu Koko' works fine.).

(Please pay attention to your sentence structures as a lot of them are strange/clunky even to the untrained eye - GP is for fine-tuning the details, not completely overhauling an article.)

Set Description

Protective Pads Urshifu-R is one of the tier's scariest unboosted wallbreakers thanks to its great Attack, good bulk, and incredible STABs that still hit hard even without a Choice Band boost (pads Urshifu is really an offensive pivot more than anything, also Urshifu's bulk isn't really that amazing - just mention how it has access to a bunch of useful moves outside of its STABs). Surging Strikes threatens Water-weak Pokemon like the likes of Landorus-T, Tapu Lele, and Victini, with the former's Intimidate being unable to weaken Surging Strikes entirely, while Close Combat can threaten a myriad of Pokemon in the tier, such as Steel-types like Melmetal, Ferrothorn, and Kartana, Dark-types like Weavile and Tyranitar, and less bulky neutral targets like Volcanion, Rotom-W, (Rotom-W does not like taking CC, but you're realistically never staying in on it unless you can guarantee a KO, which is even more difficult with pads) and Gastrodon. U-turn allows Urshifu-R to bring in a teammate while and scouting what the opponent does while chipping walls switch-ins like Slowbro, and Rotom-W, and Garchomp (this is not ORAS, tank Chomp does not run physically defensive spreads in SS OU). Taunt is the preferred fourth move, allowing Urshifu-R to potentially prevent Pokemon like Clefable, Buzzwole, and Corviknight from healing themselves, who would otherwise stonewall Urshifu-R, while simultaneously preventing Defog hazard setting, and status from the likes of Landorus-T, Garchomp, Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Buzzwole. (A LOT of things to unpack here, but you can make it much more concise by saying something like 'Taunt is typically preferred in the final moveslot, as it allows Urshifu-R to shut down healing moves from Clefable, Buzzwole, and Corviknight, Stealth Rock and Spikes from Ferrothorn, and status moves like Toxic from Garchomp and Skarmory and Thunder Wave from Ferrothorn and Clefable.') However, Aqua Jet gives Urshifu-R a much-beloved STAB priority move that allows it to remove weakened threats like Blacephalon, Volcarona, and Weavile Blaziken (more relevant here as an unboosted Aqua Jet is pretty weak) who could otherwise potentially snowball out of control. Protective Pads prevents Urshifu-R from taking chip damage from Garchomp's Rough Skin, Ferrothorn's Iron Barbs, and Rocky Helmet users like Corviknight, Slowbro and Buzzwole along with as well as completely avoiding Flame Body burns from Volcarona and Heatran and Static paralysis from Zapdos, allowing it to more freely use attacks versus these Pokemon. Protective Pads Urshifu-R can be is extremely effective when playing as if it is another set, so bluffing in the early game versus Pokemon that cannot outright OHKO it or handle these other those sets like Weavile and slightly chipped Corviknight can go a long way; however, Urshifu-R's sheer power means this isn't required.

Team Options
========

Urshifu-R fits best on bulky offense and balance teams that can make the most of its strengths, so offensive partners like Weavile and Tapu Lele can go a long way to help wallbreak while also threatening Pokemon that would otherwise give Urshifu-R trouble, such as Slowbro, Corviknight, Tapu Fini, and Toxapex; in return, Urshifu-R can help deal with the Fire- and Steel-types that give these two trouble, such as Ferrothorn, Heatran, and Volcarona. Cleaners like Choice Scarf Blacephalon and Kartana, Dragon Dance Dragonite, and Rillaboom can benefit from Urshifu-R's wallbreaking capabilities to allow them to potentially take over games once their checks are weakened; Blacephalon in particular is a great partner as it threatens many of the Steel-types that Urshifu-R may have trouble wallbreaking like Corviknight and Skarmory, while Urshifu-R chips shared checks like Tapu Fini and Toxapex in advance. (This just isn't quite true for the pads set as you generally want wallbreakers that it can pivot in, Choice Band wants these cleaners. This should really be combined with the Weavile/Tapu Lele part, include Pokemon like Choice Specs Dragapult and change offensive partners to wallbreakers.) Urshifu-R compliments well with Spikes users like Ferrothorn and Skarmory and, as such, pair well with each other. (explain why do they pair well with each other, e.g. Spikes helps wear down grounded switch-ins like Tapu Fini and Buzzwole) Similarly, Knock Off users like Tapu Fini (Knock Off Tapu Fini is incredibly niche in SS OU, just mention something like Landorus-T instead) and Weavile can remove important items like Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers from defensive targets like Slowbro, Tornadus-T, and Zapdos (All of these are terrified of Weavile. Please mention Pokemon that actually switch into Weavile and Urshifu-R like Buzzwole and Tapu Fini) to help Urshifu-R in combination with hazard support from the aforementioned Spikes setters and Stealth Rock users like Garchomp and Landorus-T. Future Sight users like Slowbro, Tapu Lele, and Galarian Slowking can go a long way to help Urshifu-R wallbreak, as many of the Pokemon that wall it like Toxapex, Tapu Fini, and the uncommon Amoonguss (you can omit uncommon Pokemon unless they are something like Shedinja that require very specific answers) despise Future Sight while many teams simply lack the resources to use another Pokemon to answer the combination of the two. Trappers like Heatran and Whirlpool Tapu Fini combinepound well with Urshifu-R, targetting the Dragon- and Water-types that Urshifu-R despises like Dragonite, Garchomp, Toxapex, and Slowbro (Just mention the Water-tyoes + Ferrothorn as Heatran is not trapping Dragonite or Garchomp, the best it can do is Toxic. Also Garchomp runs away from Urshifu-R.) . Despite most wallbreakers not liking Urshifu-R, Dragapult in particular can cause it issues is problematic for Urshifu-R due to its Dragon/Ghost type resisting all of Urshifu-R's moves while threatening an OHKO with its Draco Meteor and Thunderbolt; henceforth therefore, teammates that can reduce its pressure checks like Hippowdon (I haven't seen a HippoShifu team in a while, I don't think they're great partners - mention something like specially defensive Landorus-T instead), Ferrothorn, and Assault Vest users such as Melmetal and Assault Vest Tornadus-T can decrease reduce its potency. In a similar vein, Electric-types like Tapu Koko and Zapdos can give Urshifu-R immense trouble, so answers to these threats like Ferrothorn, Landorus-T, and Hippowdon are essential. (Also mention how Tapu Koko is a great teammate as it threatens the bulky Water-types that check Urshifu-R while Urshifu-R can do the same for the Ground-types that check Tapu Koko)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Ice Punch on Choice Band sets can allow Urshifu-R to remove two potentially problematic Rocky Helmet users in Landorus-T and Garchomp, who otherwise can majorly cripple it, along with (just not super relevant to Urshifu-R) threatening Dragonite with an OHKO if Multiscale is not active. However, this doesn't achieve much else, as Urshifu-R's STABs are already incredibly strong and the lack of sacrificing one of its key moves often does more harm than good. A Bulk Up set with Protective Pads and either Thunder Punch or Taunt can allow Urshifu-R to turn into a threatening stallbreaker if given the chance; however, the lack of U-turn means that Urshifu-R struggles to make use of its best trait in its wallbreaking capabilities without weakening itself before it can make proper use of Bulk Up sacrifices its ability as an offensive pivot with this set, not to mention and is vulnerable to the sheer number of faster threats and Choice Scarf users in the metagame even if it successfully sets up that force it out.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types like Toxapex, Slowbro, and Tapu Fini can consistently switch into and force out Urshifu-R, with the latter two threatening OHKOes on it with their STAB moves. They do have to be wary of Choice Band Urshifu-R's Thunder Punch, especially Tapu Fini since it lacks reliable recovery, though.

Much bulkier Other bulky Grass-types like Tangrowth and Amoonguss can directly consistently switch into Urshifu-R consistently and punish it with Rocky Helmet, although they are much more niche.

**Contact Effects**: Contact effects from Rocky Helmet users like Buzzwole, Corviknight, Clefable, and Slowbro, Ferrothorn's Iron Barbs and Garchomp's Rough Skin, and status-inflicting abilities from Zapdos, Heatran, and Volcarona can cripple Urshifu-R if it is not careful, limiting its output considerably. Protective Pads can circumvent this issue entirely, though.

**Faster Threats**: Despite Urshifu-R's power, its Speed is incredibly middling without a Choice Scarf (remember that this is also for the Choice Scarf set) and leaves it open vulnerable to being removed by faster Pokemon with strong attacks or STAB super-effective moves, such as Tornadus-T, Dragapult, Tapu Koko, and Blacephalon (Blacephalon fears Aqua Jet).

clas note: debated on including elecs as a category but i think them alr being mentioned in other c&c areas is enough
(You didn't mention Rotom-W and Zeraora. Mention Rotom-W in the bulky waters section and Zeraora in the faster threats category, but note that Rotom-W does not like taking CC in exchange for being fine against Thunder Punch.)

Tapu Koko in particular is a phenomenal partner due to it threatening Buzzwole and the Water-types that wall Urshifu-R like Toxapex, Tapu Fini, and Slowbro, while Urshifu-R answers Ferrothorn and Ground-types like Landorus-T and Hippowdon for Tapu Koko koko also has uturn to bring these in, mention that (could also mention that for dragapult in the last section, though tbh pult isnt something i would put there because the things that check it that shifu use are different than for weav/lele so i would probably break pult off into its own sentence). Ice Punch on Choice Band you prob dont need to specify cb sets can allow Urshifu-R to threaten Dragonite.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types like Rillaboom, Kartana, and Ferrothorn all threaten Urshifu-R and resist its Surging Strikes, although Close Combat and U-turn heavily dent them i prefer saying punish here, uturn does do a lot but thats not the main reason that they dont want to come in on it if they so choose to directly switch in.

Protective Pads can circumvent this issue entirely, though.

**Faster Threats**: Despite Urshifu-R's power, its Speed is incredibly middling without a Choice Scarf and leaves it vulnerable against faster Pokemon like Tornadus-T, Dragapult, Tapu Koko, and Zeraora. i think pult should either get a separate section entirely or at least an additional mention of 'hey this is a particularly good soft check'
