Okei here is the deal: I have but together a team that is based around suprisings and protection including toxic stalling and scouting. So I'm Using Some pokies those rarely appear in play, or at least I'm trying to perform something suprising what comes to movesets - abilityis, EV-Spreads or anything like that. And one synergy of my team is also prptectscout+leftis for ultimate recovery. So those are the bases I'm starting with I have to say that even thought my team might seem like it having several common weaknessis it hasn't let me down anytime, and that is because of my mindgames to handle the game. So team (in all its supriseful) + Gameplay makes this team effective.

So lets take a look what have I done:

dpmfa452.png

Drapion @ Black Sludge
Ability: Battle Armor
EV:s: 252Hp/252Def/4SpDef
Nature: Impish (+Def, -SpAtt)
~ Toxic Spikes
~ Protect
~ Knock Off
~ Whirlwind

Drapion is my supporting starter. What he actually does is toxic spiking opponents playfield and knocks off their items and phases away everything that trys to set up. Drapions typing giving it only one wekness makes it very good defensive monster and making setting up toxic spikes easy and he also can do the thing of the team: Protect. This makes easy to find out possible Trick claydols and other trickleads at the start. Othervice I just spike the field, Knock off the item and then just whirlwind away and at right times use protect for little scouting and recovering if needed. Plays well defensively and its quite normal that this guy stays on the field doing it's damage until it has been taken down. Switching away is rarely seen. The biggest problem that scares this starter away is the Nidoduo those doesn't give a damn about Toxic Spikes and hit me effectively on the vulnerable SpDef side with Earthpower. In overall, sometimes it feels like this guy is doing nothing than standing there but it gives good start for this team while respecting the mainidea of the team.

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EV:s: 252HP/128Def/128SpDef
Nature: Calm (+SpDef, -Att)
~ Wish
~ Protect
~ Fire Blast
~ Toxic

This Clefable has quite crazy story behind it. When I made this, I had absolutely no idea in which role I'll be using it so I just spread EV:s that I can use it as "some kind of" wall and wish passer. But has almost every game been my hero, my never-falling wall that makes opponents suffer by protect+wish+leftovers combo. Main idea is to toxic stall stuff and keep make them frustrating by wishing and protecting. FB works very nicely along with toxic because it can destroy Steels quite easily and also poison pokies don't like this too much. Venusaur, Vileplume, Toxicroak all of them are suprised when I pull out my fireblast making them panic. Wish support works perfectly with torkoal and hitmontop expecially. Clefable has many options to play because of large movepool and awesome ability so it is always unpredictable opponent and this is once again one totally suprising clefable.

dpmfa057.png

Primeape @ Leftovers
Ability: Vital Spirit / Anger point
EV:s: 252Att/252Speed/4Hp
Nature: Adamant (+Att, -SpAtt)
~ Substitute
~ Focus Punch
~ Stone Edge
~ Earthquake

So, Primeape acts one of my two actual sweepers. Okey this is quite original sub-punch combo that everyone knows and I know that there are guys like hitmonlee that can be more brutal in this. But why primeape? well sub punch primeape is something that can't be seen very often, and even thought it have worse base attack power than Hitmonlee does, it still fits here better that Lee IMO. And that is because of supriseful. You have no idea how often I've got this guy on the field and sub on the swich when they are expecting for Close Combat and Scarf. Also Primeapes abilities helps it better than hitmonlees own help him. Vital Spirit makes an easy switch in into a sleep move I predict and just like that I'm able to sub my self. Anger point on the other hand might be the dead end to someone that Crits my sub. So I'm not quite sure which ability-Ape I should use more often. This far Vital Spirit monkey has done way much better. Focus Punch is 2HKO most of the time and usually they throw some wall that is slower than Ape so I have a change to hit it twice and with right prediction just sub again after they've broke the first one and after then waiting for Switch so if my mind serves me, I can do major damage on every one that comes on the field trying to wall me (Claydol and Rotom are the two those are able to wall me perfectly on UU metagame). So quite vulnerable to bring in when there is no emsty field but with great predictions I've had absolutely no problems. I would like to have EQ replaced with Ice punch to handle venusaurs and claydols better but unfortunately I have no chance to get it because I don't use platinium until it is published in Europe :(

dpmfa324.png

Torkoal @ Leftovers
Ability: White Smoke
Nature: Relaxed (+Def, -Speed)
EV:s: 252Hp/184Def/72SpAtt
~ Overheat
~ Will-O-Wisp
~ Protect
~ Explosion

So what comes to defensive gaming... I can't understand why Torkoal can't be seen anywhere. Eventhough he has weakness to SR and no reliable recovery, it still packs 75hp/140def Basestat combo that s better than Skarmorys. I have to say, Torkoal has supsised many times with it's sturdyness and skill to take hits like nothing and turned many games on me. can come in Banded Staraptors Brave Bird and took them without dying (eventhough it might need some prot+leftovers recovery between expesially if SR is up). So Torkoal continues the synergy of the team, causes some poisondamage and scouting with protect, struggles things like Staraptor, Nidoking, Dodrio, venusaur, Toxicroak etc with Will-O-Wisp while also being able to give hard hit with overheat. Explosion works perfectly when opponent thinks he has finally taken down my wall I explode attacker in a switch. Protect leftovers totally gives needed recovery for Torkoal and that is just a simple trick to keep Torkoal alive much longer. Simply stops all physical threads in the UU metagame.

dpmfa275.png

Shiftry @ Salac Berry
Ability: Early Bird
Nature: Hasty (+Speed, -Def)
EV:s 252SpAtt/252Speed/4Att
~ Nasty Plot
~ Leaf Storm
~ Dark Pulse
~ Explosion

Now here is the wild card of the team. I use to play my scarfgolduck in this place but I liked to try something new while not breiking my teams mainidea: the suprisefactor. So that is why I didn't pick something like my sub-petaya manectric. Shiftry can make easy switch-in on predicted Psychic attacks but othervise it may be too weak, but here the gamble: I like to use Salac berry as item in a attempt to let my opponent bring my HP low while I nasty plot for SpAttack boost. So it truly is gamble but with a bit of prediction and good mind it is not so hard to pull as it seems and sounds. Everytime I get at least one nastyplot under my attack and my opponent hits me hanging on red flashy HP-level I'm able to get at least two or three KO:s (one +2 boosted leaf storm can do some major damage on anyone, followed by dark Pulse, and I still have one normal powered Leaf Storm to use) and on top of that: The Master Explosion. Serves the Specialsweeper role in this team, being one of possible two sleep absorbers and that is very nice catch up against sleepers when they predict me staying asleep but I woke up, if fortuna serves me, suprisingly early. My best answer against things like Rotom and Slowbro those othervice might cause problems. But being suprsiseful is one key to win with this guy. Also, Trick pokies might cause me problems and Shiftry is my best choice to get tricked by Specs or Scarf. I simply won't lose a thing on that switch

dpmfa237.png

Hitmontop @ Leftovers
Ability: Techician
Nature: Adamant (+Att, -SpAtt)
EV:s: 252Hp/180Att/76SpDef
~ Fake Out
~ Mach Punch
~ Rapid Spin
~ Toxic

My spinner, prioritypunisher, flincher and SpDef wall. Maybe the most common member in this team but I needed spinner and priority so there wasn't much choice. I tried to make EV spread more unique and I have to say I'm pretty satisfied with this. Fake out flinches the target and if opponent is poisoned it also serves my struggling strategy. Also can give possible toxic support along with Clefable if needed because Toxic Spikes are too fragile sometimes. Takes hits expecially from special side very well and quarantees at least one extra leftoversrecovery via fake out. Proprity truly is needed because I have no one being able to outspeed things like swellow, Scyther, Persian... etc. It is pretty safe choice to throw on the field most of the time so it acts perfectly on the spot I've but it and serves me well.

So that is the team that has helped me win plenty of times. ANd yeah I know, I have several weaknessis but I haven't had no problems to handle any of those because of my mindgames. Like I have three flying weaknessis and no resists, but aerial attacks are not so common at all, and the two most dangerous of them (Brave Bird by Swellow/Dodrio/Staraptor or Aerial ace by bandscyther) are easily walled by torkoal so it is not a problem at all. One problem is my gameplay with Shirtry cos like I said, it is a gamble but I enjoy using my mind to pull it out.

So the sort version about the team:

Drapion: Starter, Toxic Spiker, knock offer, Phazer
Clefable: Stalls, wish passes, spreads toxic
Primeape: Physical Sweeper
Torkoal: Makes physical threads harmless
Shiftry: Special (gamble-)Sweeper
Hitmontop: Spinner, Specialwall, prioritybeast

Threads: Being honest, I haven't face any real threads at all and I've played with this team very long time. I've had bad times and good times but rarely I've faced any real problems that I haven't been able to overcome with my gameplay. But if you think there is one, let me know :)

So now everyone: I like to hear opinions about this team and feel free to give me a hint if something needs to be fixed. But please: respect my theme what is being supriseful so I don't awnt to hear about getting some original copypaste move-/EV-sets from smogon pages because those strategias are on everyones head so it helps me nothing at all. I'm here to prove how well at UU gaming player can do by using something nobody knows mixed up with good mindgames. That gives a good upperhand for everyone playing like that :)

(note for moderators: If there is something I need to fix in my thread please, instead of locking it, let me know and I will fix those things :) )

This is a really cool team.

I love the surprise factors, this is a great idea.

The only thing I would suggest is replacing explosion with substitute on shiftry. I know explosion is very unexpected but sub will make it way more reliable with the sub-salac combo, plus I don't think anyone will excpect a sub salad shiftry.

Also, when you get platinum, definatelt put Ice punch on Primare.

Other than that awsome team.

Good luck with it.

If the Tiers are different in Wi-fi, then ignore this.

Most of your pokemon are simply outclassed with the Smogon UU tiers, minus the first 2 pokemon, and Hitmontop.

Primape is Outclassed by Hariyama for Sub-Punching. Which includes coverage.

Steelix outclasses Torkoal, with superior stats, but mainly superior typing. Steel is the best defensive type in the game.

Nasty Plot Shiftry isnt really outclassed, but Scarf Roserade pulls what you are trying to pull off, much better. But tbh, it looks ok ^^ i guess, since Roserade doesnt have explosion. You could try RP Camerupt here, because its Walled by Steelix.

I don't sign up the fact Hariyama outclassing Primeape.... At least what comes to Abilities and Speed... Prmieape get's the extrahand. Thick fat is great ability but Vital Spirit and Anger Point are more like fitting in this suprise factor.

Steelix is the best so called physical wall in UU though Torkoal can do something steelix can't, being that how better waller: Will-O-Wisp. totally making physical attackers out of changes.

Scarf Roserade is better also in my opinion, althought pretty normal thing. So gives nothing supriseful in my opinion. I may bee wrong though.

Thanks about these two opinioins guys :).

Anyone willing to say anything anymore? :)
