XY OU Pseudo-Sandstorm Hyper Offense

Heya, call me Josh, and I'm here with my first RMT. Now, then, while thinking of this team, I thought it'd be neat to use a Pokemon with Sandstorm support. And so Tyranitar and Excadrill were great choices. I figured that Special Attackers such as Greninja, Latios and Gardevoir would also fit on here, as they would make great supporting attackers for my Mega Evolution, being Pinsir. During my time on the ladder, I've corrected this team countless times, but I believe it's time to hear you guys' opinions. Let's jump right in.

Pinsir @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- Swords Dance
- Quick Attack
- Earthquake

Mega Pinsir is and has always been one of the most dominant Mega Evolutions in the Metagame, at least in my opinion. Thing is, with Hyper Cutter, Pokemon with Intimidate, such as Gyarados and Landorus-T's intimidate will be negated, so I can set up a Swords Dance on the switch. This scenario has happened a lot during my time on the ladder, and it's proven to be quite useful. The move set is self explanatory, so time to move on to the next pokemon.

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Fire Punch

My usual Lead, and for good reason. Tyranitar's defense investment allows it to take on physical attackers such as Gyarados and Talonflame. Speaking of, the Stealth Rock also helps Pinsir and Excadrill potentially sweep the opposing team with ease. I decided to try out Fire Punch, as it gives Tyranitar to hit Pokemon like Scizor hard.

Greninja @ Focus Sash
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Grass Knot

Although its Focus Sash may prove to be useless during Sandstorm, Greninja is my primary Revenge Killer, and I've given it most the tools it needs to succeed in its role, alongside Gardevoir, but I'll get to that later. Ice Beam's what I find myself using over Scald when I'm not looking for a burn. I decided to not use Hydro Pump due to it's shaky accuracy, and I refused to use Surf just because I find the chance to burn a lot more helpful. Every other move gives me coverage against certain Pokemon and with Protean, Greninja contributes to my team greatly.

Gardevoir @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Trace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Thunderbolt
- Psyshock
- Destiny Bond

When Greninja's not there, Gardevoir takes the show as a secondary revenge killer. It's amazing to think about what ability it can get due to trace. I always see Gardevoir turning the tides of a battle only by its ability. But that's not all. I've managed to find a Gem in Destiny Bond. Scarf Destiny Bond is really good when it comes to it's surprise factor, making Gardevoir a perfect revenge killer and KO fodder.

Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin
Offensive Rapid Spin is god.... Excuse my hyperbole. Excadrill is here mainly because of the support it gets in Sandstorm, and the support it gives due to it being a reliable Rapid Spinner. With Sand Rush active, Excadrill becomes a very dangerous sweeper... Although that's me just mentioning the obvious. In most scenarios I find Excadrill either sweeping or spinning hazards away. All in all, Excadrill does its job wonderfully on this team. Not much else to add.

Latios (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt
- Energy Ball

Latios' Choice Specs Draco Meteor is a nuke, and that's why Latios is here for, to server as a fantastic supporting attacker. While making a set for this Latios, I looked at its movepool and I said to myself: "Why doesn't anyone consider Energy Ball?" Speaking from experience anyway. As my primary special attacker, it has done more than prove itself to me. I gave it the coverage moves it needed to do its job, and the results are extraordinary.

In conclusion this is mainly the team I use on the ladder, and it's proven to be a ton of fun. Hopefully you guys can try it out for yourselves and have fun in doing so. :]

Heatran + Air Balloon: I always find myself having a lot of trouble with Air Balloon Heatran, just because I barely have anything to deal with it while its Air Balloon is still intact. Only Greninja's capable of popping its Air Balloon and at the same time deal an acceptable amount of damage.

Other Weather Conditions: Pokemon such as Scarf Politoed can instantly halt and begin wrecking havoc upon my team once Tyranitar is gone. And even if it isn't, Tyranitar will be taking serious damage from Politoed's Hydro Pump or Focus Blast.

You should try out life orb on excadrill as opposed to air balloon. I used to run a sand team and while air balloon has its uses, you lose a lot of sweeping power. I feel the added power of the life orb vastly helps excadrill in its role as an amazing late game cleaner in every possible scenario where as the air balloon does not. Once I realised how much extra power I was getting with the life orb I never went back to air balloon.

Also, like you said yourself, focus sash is useless on a sand team if the pokemon takes sand damage, so I'm confused as to why you insist on keeping it. I would highly suggest changing the item to something much more beneficial to greninja's incredible versatility and coverage. Life orb is the obvious choice but I dislike the idea of LO recoil and sand damage so you could try out an expert belt as it works very well too.
