Welcome everyone to Pokemon Showdown Trivia League! PSTL is a new bracket style tournament where teams of two will be randomly paired with another team of two and will face off against another group of four. Each player will duel another player on the opposing team in one of our categories being Pokemon, Arts and Entertainment (AE), Science and Geography (SG), and Society and Humanities (SH). A duel is a game where two players will be given a question and whoever gets the question correct first wins. More details about Duel can be found here. This will be a best of three, so whoever gets two questions correct will win.

You may be wondering what the rewards are. The players on the winning team will come up with a custom avatar and all four of them will have access to it.

Signups and Scheduling:

You or your teammate will post the following:
Player One's Smogon name:
Player One's PS name:
Player One's preferred categories:
Player One's timezone (GMT):
Player One's Discord name and tag:
Player Two's Smogon name:
Player Two's PS Name:
Player Two's preferred categories:
Player Two's timezone (GMT):
Player Two's Discord name and tag:

Signups will start on August 5th and will close on August 12th. You can also signup as a solo player, just fill out the information for Player One.

The first bracket will be posted, and your duo will be tagged on Smogon/Discord. Schedule a date/time with your opponents, then tag the Event Helper role in the Scheduling channel for your category. Event Helpers are listed below.

When the duel happens, the helper will make a groupchat on PS, and invite you and your opponent. Rescheduling can only be done if both you and your opponent can make the new time. However, if one of you cannot make the duel and it isn’t rescheduled, the tardy member will lose the match. If an Event Helper becomes unavailable, PM a Trivia Moderator or RO and they will assign a new helper ASAP.

Here is a Discord server for the event. You can join immediately and I or another Trivia auth member will give you the PSTL Participant role so you can view more than the Rules channel. And yes, you should read the rules.

A team will win when they have the majority of the wins in a round (3/4 or 4/4). If there is a tiebreaker then the last group of players to play within their respective group will play another round, the winner will win for the group.

Now that you have read everything, you can PM me on PS (Lucario1582) or another Trivia staff member and we will answer any questions about this event.
