INTRODUCTION
I had the idea for a psyspam-esque team for quite some time. I have experimented with an Armarouge Psyspam team a few months back. Psychic is, naturally, one of my favorite types. Combining 2 aspects of the psychic type into one team? Just sounds lovely. And I know, new as I am, that even the concept for this team is utterly clunky & outright disadvantageous. I just find the concept, building, and playing of this team very fun. And I hope that you, the lovely folks on this forum, would kindly appreciate and critique my team. Thank you :D
To begin, This is the one of the main pokemon I use on this team. The life orb, being negated by the magic guard, gives this pokemon(which is one of my favorites) the ability to use expanding force at 203 BP. with STAB & psychic tera, you are well exceeding the power of Explosion. I find the concept of this amoebic goo baby utterly nuking things with more power than we can even imagine just funny. Even without the room or the terrain, this pokemon can easily pull it's weight offensively. The moveset provides ample coverage and even its own trick room. how useful!
Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Expanding Force
- Trick Room
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
My second Trick Roomer is Hatterene. There is little explanation needed. It's 136 special attack never underperforms, and magic bounce makes this a great switch in following indeedee for hazards. While tera water does provide nice utility against steel attackers, I dont use it often.
Hatterene @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Bounce
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Expanding Force
- Dazzling Gleam
- Mystical Fire
A pitiful stand in for Tapu Lele. In all seriousness, I love Indeedee and find the fact it can trick room and set up psychic terrain instantly is very helpful. Late game Healing Wish is a blessing.
Indeedee-F @ Terrain Extender
Ability: Psychic Surge
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Trick Room
- Healing Wish
- Protect
What can't Ursaluna do? The normal typing is a great addition to this ghost-weak team,
and headlong rush is also an utter nuke.
I dont know if swords dance is too necessary for this mon, but I still find it's utility helpful.
Even without tera normal, STAB Guts Facade's sheer power alone should be enough to bring your opponent into forfeit.
Ursaluna @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Facade
- Headlong Rush
- Fire Punch
Conkeldurr, another Unovan classic. This provides a huge outlet of sheer offensive power to the team.
If I am unable to use reuniclus, I will trick room this into play. The stab power of Close Combat and Mach Punch
is already ridiculous. Trick Room makes this so incredibly powerful it's not even funny. Knock Off is perhaps
the best offensive move in the game, which makes it an obvious choice, and Facade getting 140 power with
Guts almost feels like overkill.
Conkeldurr @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off
- Facade
I play Kingambit on many of my teams. It should be obvious why. The thing was nearly banned once. Trick room does it many favors. No longer will it have to rely on sucker punches, which are still conditional, but the full power of Kowtow Cleave & Iron Head at full speed. I do use it as a sort of "last resort", but trick rooming into it is also a wonderful choice. Assault Vest might seem weird here, but I feel like the use of sword dance could 1) waste an invaluable trick room turn & 2) be effectively useless. Especially when you stack Supreme Overlord. Nothing's wrong with a little extra defense, Right?
Kingambit @ Assault Vest
Ability: Supreme Overlord
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Kowtow Cleave
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Zen Headbutt
I could certainly see there being problems with this team. I have only been able to test it on low ladder. I would still love to hear all of your opinions. I am excited to hear your responses!
