Psycho Shift + Status Inducing Items discussion

I haven't had the time to test out Psycho Shift on my own, but reading the description makes it sound very useful. As it sounds to me, Psycho Shift takes the status effect to your opponent, so if you're burned, you burn the opponent and is also sounds like you cure yourself.

Even without the curing, this could be fairly powerful. It gives pogeys that don't learn Will-o-Wisp the ability to burn attackers, and to even poison other pogeys (though the use of this seems rather small).

This seems rather interesting, because it allows Cresselia to wall even better. If Psycho Shift cures the burn, and the item doesn't reburn unless you switch (which is how I'm imagining this in my head, most likely incorrect) then suddenly you're beefy tank stats just got better.

Even Togekiss learns it, which could be interesting since most offensive threats thus far appear to be physical. I'm going to need to get down to some testing once a little free time comes my way.

It certainly sounds interesting, although you should remember that when you're holding the Flame Orb, you have to give up on Leftovers on your tanks.
It makes you vulnerable to Sandstorm again (Leftovers would ignore the damage, basically), which can also be troublesome to deal with.

Most tanks though have a way to heal themselves (Togekiss has Wish, Cresselia has Moonlight), but Leftovers is a big help to them. Not being able to have that hurts them pretty hard, and unless it cures your own Burn Status, I doubt it would be worth it. If you're actually being burned as well, your tank loses 1/8 of it's max HP each turn as well, which IMO renders their usefulness pretty badly.

From what I remember, the "Status Inflicting Items" check to see if you have a status problem at the end of each turn, and if you don't, it inflicts their status on you.

Its not hard to predict a will-o-wisp/thunder wave/stun spore/toxic and switch to a pogey with Psycho Shift, this is indeed a very interesting move. Plus there is psycho shift + <that move where you throw your item to do damage> or Psycho Shift + Trick, and many other things....
