- Encore / Surf
[SET COMMENTS]
Quaxwell is a staple for NFE, being a crucial backbone to many teams for its ability to remove entry hazards, check top physically offensive threats, and provide defensive pivoting. Quaxwell is the best hazard removal option due to its great defensive typing, good matchup against entry hazard setters, and reliable recovery. Encore is a great tool to punish foes trying to take advantage of Quaxwell's passivity by setting up such as Fraxure, Gabite, and Wartortle. Surf can be used over Encore on teams that already have great counterplay to these setup users, giving Quaxwell a better way to punish the likes of Piloswine, Pignite, and Monferno without being forced to pivot with Flip Turn. Bold is preferred if Surf is chosen over Encore.
Quaxwell fits in most team structures except offense and hyper offense, where Wartortle might be favored. It plays an important role in checking top threats like Piloswine, Pignite, and Wartortle, which teammates like Tinkatuff and Vigoroth appreciate. Eviolite is the most used item in the metagame, meaning entry hazard stacking is a very strong strategy for taking down Quaxwell's teammates, so it is vital in stopping hazard setters like Piloswine, Frogadier, and Tinkatuff. Quaxwell likes to be paired with Pokemon like Hisuian Sliggoo, Koffing, and Tinkatuff, since they can check common Grass-types like Thwackey, Servine, and Ivysaur. Many teams have Misdreavus or Drakloak in order to stop Quaxwell from removing hazards, so teammates such as Vigoroth, Girafarig, and Monferno are great for being able to switch in and punish them. Quaxwell struggles against heavy-hitting special attackers like Girafarig, Misdreavus, and Hisuian Sliggoo, so teammates like Vigoroth, Dunsparce, and Tinkatuff help by keeping them at bay. Keeping its Eviolite is very important for it being able to check all of these threats it is tasked with handling, so Knock Off absorbers such as Koffing and Tinkatuff are greatly appreciated.

Other Options
=============
252 HP / 188 Def / 68 SpD with a Careful nature can help Quaxwell to survive special attack rolls like +2 Girafarig's Thunderbolt and +2 Misdreavus's Shadow Ball. 252 HP / 156 Def / 100 Spe with a Jolly or Timid nature can be used to let Quaxwell outspeed Pignite at the cost of it being worse a little less solid as a physical wall.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Grass-types**: Servine, Ivysaur, and Thwackey all greatly threaten Quaxwell with their Grass-type attacks and Knock Off.
**Strong Special Attackers**: Girafarig, Hisuian Sliggoo, and offensive variants of Misdreavus can exploit Quaxwell's weaker Special Defense and general passivity.
**Item Disruptors**: Pignite, Monferno, and Tinkatuff can lure Quaxwell in and remove its Eviolite, making it easier to take down later in the game. Trick or Switcheroo uses like Hattrem, Clefairy, and Frogadier can also greatly cripple Quaxwell by taking Eviolite and potentially giving it a Choice item. Quaxwell also has to be wary of using Rapid Spin against Tinkatuff because of Pickpocket.
**Taunt Users**: Vigoroth and Misdreavus can block Quaxwell's ability to use Roost, which can inhibit its ability to perform its role to its full potential.
