ORAS OU Quiet Dog Bite Hard

Hey guys and gals,

First of all thanks Sablenite for the suggested changes to the team, it runs more smoothly now.

The team I'm going to present you started off as a Mega Ampharos team, but ended up as a Mega Manectric team; mainly because I seem to do better with a fast style of playing and Manectric is a mon that can just come in and get things done while Ampharos either needs an Agility set-up or a much more defensive build to be of use.
This is the second or third team I post here; I only post when I feel like I stumbled upon something good. Don't know what peak this team could have gotten as lately I'm too lazy to fill in a password and I just type some random stuff and start playing, but it gets to 1400 quite easily so I can imagine it will do fine mid-ladder too.
For those interested, my last team can be found here (shameless advertising): http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/sledgehammer-shenanigans-rework.3565590/

Anyway, let's get into detail.

Joe Pesci (Manectric) @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flamethrower Overheat
- Hidden Power [Ice]
This is basically the only set you see, ever, but it does its job; Mega Mane gets things done. Thunderbolt as main STAB move, Overheat and HP Ice for coverage, Volt Switch for hit-and-run momentum and the Intimidate ability to soften some blows. Overheat over Flamethrower because it OHKO's Ferrothorn and Mega Metagross. Great late game cleaner, provided you took care of faster mons and pink eggs.

Apollo (Brown) (Landorus-Therian) @ Leftovers Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD 160 Def / 8 SpD / 88 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
- Knock Off Stone Edge

Second one on the ticket is Landorus-Therian because apparently there's a new rule that you hàve to have this on your team... In all seriousness; 1. I still needed a Stealth Rock setter 2. I needed something that could take heavy physical hits. Earthquake as a STAB move, Stealth Rock, Stone Edge for dealing with Talonflame, U-Turn for a nice Volt-Turn Intimidate core with Manectric. The EV's were suggested by Sablenite so I can outspeed neutral Volcanion and Bisharp.

Kelso (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 30 HP / 0 Atk / 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind
- Hidden Power [Flying]

Kelso (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Mystic Water
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Secret Sword
- Scald
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Next up is Keldeo, I gave it a Choice Scarf so it can outspeed things like Scarfed Landorus-T, Scarfed Excadrill, Mega Lopunny, etc... but I made it Modest for the extra damage. Probably not the optimal decision but up until now it has worked alright. Scald and Secret Sword as main STAB moves, Icy Wind mainly for utility, Hidden Power Flying for opposing Grass-types on the switch, most notably Mega Venusaur, which this team struggles with, hard.
Breloom leaving the team means I had to have something that could reliably deal with stall, RestTalk Keldeo seems to do the trick just fine. It also gives me a check to Bisharp and something to absorb status in a few rare circumstances. The last set wasn't able to 2HKO Mega Venusaur anyway so the Scarf and HP Flying weren't of that much added value.

Arcanine 2.0 (Entei) @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Stone Edge
- Extreme Speed
- Bulldoze

This is probably the MVP of this team, Adamant Choice Banded STAB Sacred Fire hits like a truck and the 50% burn chance is brutal. I first had Iron Head instead of Bulldoze but Mega Venusaur + Heatran was super annoying to deal with so I changed it to kill Heatrans on the switch. Banded Extremespeed to pick off fast mons and scarfers. Stone Edge for coverage. Infortunately, being a Fire-type it takes extra Stealth Rock damage, the fact that I have 3 Volt-Turners giving me switch-advantage on this team mitigates that somewhat but is something to keep in mind when Entei is my win-condition.

Bloodstained Scyther (Scizor) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Quick Attack Pursuit
- U-turn
- Defog

The last member is a somewhat defensive Banded Scizor with Defog and two priority moves. Not ideal on paper but it works on the team. Defog is mainly there for when Entei is needed, I hardly ever use it on this team. U-turn for a slow turn out, Bullet Punch as a hard hitting priority STAB move.

Blob (Clefable) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave
Clefable was suggested by Sablenite as to have a Mega Lopunny switch in and something that can absorb status, it replaces Breloom. It's also a Dragon immunity and something that can neuter fast attackers with yellow magic, so the rest of my team can outspeed it. It's also able to use the Volt-turning to set up and sweep late game.

Threatlist

Mega Venusaur + Heatran:
probably the biggest threat to this team. I can probably mitigate this by giving Entei an Expert Belt, but I don't think sacrificing the raw power for more flexibility is worth it.
Volcanion: I literally have no switch-ins, but then again, what is a Volcanion switch in? Best strategy for me is to get Rocks up asap and keep offensive pressure with Manectric.

breloom_by_oxamy.png

Bill Cosby (Breloom) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 12 HP / 252 Atk / 244 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Seed Bomb
- Focus Punch
- Substitute
- Spore
Alright, yeah, I used the Toxic Orb set. Breloom is probably the most inconsistent member on this team. In some games I don't have to use it at all, but in other games it just takes the team on its back. Especially against (semi-)stall this guy just shines. Toxic Orb means Breloom can't get statused so you can switch into Will-o-Wisps all day. Seed Bomb as its main STAB-move, Spore to put stuff to sleep, Substitute + Focus Punch for hitting so hard it's not even funny. In other games Toxic Breloom means Rotom-Wash can't do anything else but Volt or switch out, and having Stealth Rock up allows me to whittle it down to the point where I can just kill it with another member on my team.

I'm curious to hear your opinions and possible changes!

Play me out, Art.

Hello. So there are a few problems I see right from the beginning. First of all, scarf keldeo, even Modest fails to 2HKO Mega Venusuar.
252+ SpA Keldeo Hidden Power Flying vs. 232 HP / 4 SpD Mega Venusaur: 124-146 (34.5 - 40.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Secondly, I feel that the amount of choice items kills your momentum a bit too much.

The mild changes I'll suggest are Landorus's spread to speed creep for neutral Volcanion and Bisharp (Breloom) and changing knock off to stone edge to actually beat Talonflame and being able to bluff scarf with Rocky Helmet, and changing Flamethrower to Overheat on M.Manetric to get the guaranteed OHKO on Ferrothorn and M.Metagross.

Now lets figure out how to replace Breloom, while keeping a good match-up against stall and give you a better Bisharp check. I'm thinking Rest-Talk Keldeo here.
You also lack a set up sweeper which benefits from the volt-turn core.

Lastly, I'd like to add a (Ice Punch/Beam) M.Lopunny switch-in which pretty much consists of either Clefable or Slowbro. Adding Clefable as it also gives you a HP[fire] Latios switch-in, status sponge, and win condition at the same time.

Hey man,

Thanks a lot for the suggestions! Sorry for the somewhat late reply but I had to find some time to check all this stuff out first.

I really like the Rest/Talk Keldeo set and the change from Breloom to Clefable, it definitely runs more smoothly.

Haven't lost a game yet with these changes! (haven't encountered a Mega Venusaur neither though..) I added all your changes to the original post!
