ORAS Ubers Rachi runs da Jewels: M-Sableye + Jirachi balance

Hey everyone! I posted a balance team back when I was a bit worse at Ubers and got so much great advice that I thought I'd post here again with a different team that has given me success. This team is very bulky, but also boasts a decent amount of power while being somewhat anti-meta. It's gone through many slight changes and I've improved it as much as I can, but I think that some of the better Ubers players on here can help me out! No ladder peak, since I use a variety of teams on the ladder, which skews the results, but I'm approximately 15-3 with this current version (give or take a loss or win). Like my other RMT, I will explain my teambuilding process in the description of each one. Please note that any speed creep is kept a secret. Onto the team!

The Team

Numel-Primal (Groudon-Primal) @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 200 HP / 244 Atk / 64 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Precipice Blades
- Rock Polish
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge
When I was first constructing this team, I had a few goals in mind. The first was to limit myself to one set-up sweeper because I felt as though many teams were saturated with them and too many turns were being spent setting up and immediately being forced out instead of getting immediate damage. I figured that if I was only going to use a single set-up sweeper, I might as well make it a potent one. I chose Primal Groudon for the role because he's fast, powerful, and bulky. He sets up on a lot of foes and is rarely OHKO'd, giving him good opportunities to set up both a RP and an SD, at which point the game is done unless I miss. The best part is that he can easily set up on a Ho-oh who has already killed another member of my team, which is an amazing way to punish balance teams with them. It is also my best switch-in for Sacred fire spam as I do not have a cleric on my team and the rest of my team doesn't like being burned. One of my replays shows this off quite well. I don't see many 128 Spe Groudon on the ladder so I opted for 64 Spe so that I can take hits better when I set up.

sableye-mega.gif

Went to Jared (Sableye-Mega) (F) @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 248 HP / 124 Def / 136 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Taunt
- Foul Play

Since I counted on Groudon setting up an SD and a RP while taking at least one hit, I knew that he'd be prone to things such as ESpeed Arceus forms, Deoxys-Attack and Defensive Yveltal coming in to revenge kill him. To handle these I chose Mega-Sableye. Mega-Sableye is very good in Ubers due to its ability to check physical Arceus-forms well and be a good blanket check to many of the B-Rank threats such as Mega-Kanga and MMX. It also completely shuts down most versions of Lugia who can take a hit from PDon and phase or toxic him. 136 SpD EVs let's me take on MMY better as well as Deoxys-A running ice beam as a coverage move (though I can't check it as well with hazards up). I used to run Knock-Off > Taunt to cripple switch-ins such as Xerneas and Darkrai, but Taunt worked well versus these two switch-ins and has the added bonus of not letting the inevitable POgre and PDon switch-ins come in for free. It also anti-leads Skill Swap Deoxys-S leads easily. Overall a solid mon in Ubers and it gives me a good match-up verses stall along with my PDon.

jirachi.gif

Thats so Rachi (Jirachi) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Iron Head
- Wish
- Thunder Wave
- Protect

At this point I needed a good switch-in to Xerneas, the Lati twins, and M-Diancie as well as general Draco meteor spam since my team does not have a visible fairy type. Jirachi does this very well and can use free turns to pass wishes, which my team highly appreciates since it's a bulkier team. Jirachi is (probably?) the best check to Xerneas in the game since it forces out any kind whether it be geomancy, scarf, life orb, or defensive, not to mention that it can take down a geomancied Xerneas without dying itself. It also threatens to paralyse a variety of would-be switch-ins, limiting them to a few pokemon. While Jirachi does lure in PDon like no other, the switch-in being so predictable lets me double into a check pretty confidently. I originally thought of using Klefki in this spot in order to check things like Darkrai and set up spikes, but the Wish support has proven to be extremely useful and clutch.

dialga.gif

Katy my Lady (Dialga) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 244 HP / 252 SpA / 12 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon
- Draco Meteor

Realising that I had no SR on this team, I decided to change that! Dialga is my favourite rocker in the game because it beats the two relevant Magic Bouncers as well as acts as (imo) the best M-Mence check in the game with a Shucca Berry. It can smack PDon trying to come in for free on my rocks or Flash cannon with an Earth Power and has very power Draco meteors. This is generally my lead unless the opposing team has a Deo-S since it's just so damn reliable. Not having to worry about M-Mence is amazing for balanced teams and if the Mence is a Refresh set, I can keep my Shucca Berry to survive hits from +0 PDon and Ekiller later in the match. I was originally temped to run max speed, but found it unnecessary given the rest of my team and giving it HP investment makes it much easier to pass Wishes to.

zekrom.gif

Usain Volt (Zekrom) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bolt Strike
- Volt Switch
- Outrage
- Sleep Talk

The first four members of my team did not appreciate P-Ogre, Darkrai, and Ho-oh at all and it is very difficult to find defensive answers to those pokes so I decided on an offensive answer. Besides, my team needed a little more of an offensive presence, so I decided on Scarfed Zekrom. While Scarfed mons are generally worse in ORAS, my team covered most of the speed-boosting sweepers, leaving me weak to boosting wall-breakers. Zekrom matches up very well against these threats. Bolt strike OHKOs Darkrai, P-Ogre, and Ho-oh while Outrage chunks PDon and Arceus-Ground. Most of the time when I have this guy out I click Outrage because I lure out PDon and can smash it with entry hazards up. Plus my Jirachi makes it so that I don't really mind giving Xerneas free turns. Zekrom is a forgotten threat due to PDon being around, but once that thing is KOed, oh my lord does Zekrom clean the floor (assuming I don't sac it to weaken PDon of course).

arceus-fairy.gif

Pretty n Pink (Arceus-Fairy) @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Judgment
- Earth Power
- Defog
- Recover

The last member of my team is the glue of my team as it turns out. Arceus-Fairy is nice because it provides anti-hazard support along with Sableye, can check threats such as Ho-oh, offensive Yveltal, Rayquaza, Mence, and Groudon, as well as give me another way to switch in to Dragon spam. While Aceus-Fairy seemed to me like a redundant pokemon on paper, in practice it takes so much pressure off of the rest of my mons. This gives me a good match-up versus HO since many HO builds can overpower me, but Arceus-Fairy really helps the team come together. I chose 56 EVs in order to outspeed Rayquaza and smack him with a Judgment and I decided not to run the 84 SpA EVs since most Rayquaza spam Dragon Ascent and lower their defences anyway. 252HP/200 Def lets me switch into offensive PDons precipice blades easier as well as lets me stall out Ho-oh using Brave Bird if it comes to that. I have an alternate version of this team with Arceus-Water with the same EV spread with Recover/Toxic/Defog/Ice Beam. It works pretty well, too, but it makes my team much weaker to offensive Yveltal while only helping my match-up with P-Ogre a little bit.

Threat List inside:

491.png

Definitely the largest threat to my team. LO NP takes out everything after a nasty plot. Even though I run Sleep Talk on my Zekrom, I usually fodder something else instead of risking the sleep talk since only Bolt Strike kills. If I miss Bolt Strike, it's gg.

493-dark.png

CM Arceus forms can be a problem if they are a type that my offensive mons cannot hit super effectively. Ones without refresh are less threatening if using Arceus-W over Arceus-Fairy, but Arceus-F has a better match-up against the prominent one (Arceus-Dark). Usually I try and weaken them and then smash then at half health with my Zekrom.

094-m.png

Mega-Gengar can cause me problems if paired with certain threats such as Yveltal, but it takes off pressure from Dialga since it doesn't need to worry about Mence, letting it use its Shucca Berry for other things. I usually make a lot of risky doubles when this thing is around.

Hey tenefix,

I'm not really playing Ubers any more, but I was just lurking and since I rated your first RMT I figured I may as well this this one a quick go. This won't be anything special, but a few quick notes:

This team is very weak to Primal Groudon. Cripplingly so. For this reason, and since Fairyceus's main utility is as a Calm Mind sweeper rather than as a support mon, I think you should definitely run Waterceus in its place.

You also have no real way to break through fat steels like Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Jirachi. One option is running a fire move (Fire Punch or Overheat) on Groudon in place of Swords Dance or Rock Polish; this lessens your already limited offensive presence, but since this is almost semi-stall that's not necessarily a bad thing. Another option, although its more a band-aid than a true solution, is to run Fire Blast over Flash Cannon on Dialga. You should never be staying in on Xerneas with it - just switch to your hard wall Jirachi.

And you say you don't leave Zekrom in on Darkrai - this really defeats the point of running Sleep Talk. As you say, it's not the best Darkrai counter, but I like it as a cleaner so I won't say you have to get rid of it. If you keep it though, you might want to find room for some priority on the team - perhaps with a Sucker Punch defensive Yveltal in for M-Sableye. Yveltal checks most things Sableye does, most pertinently E-Killer and Mence, and provides good utility elsewhere in the form of priority and stallbreaking.

Another option is to put Stealth Rock on Jirachi in place of Protect, replace Dialga with Choice Band Sleep Talk Ho-Oh, and make Zekrom a Tailwind sweeper with Tailwind, Volt Switch, Bolt Strike, and Draco Meteor (physical dragon coverage is sort of redundant). Looking at it now this is the option I prefer, since it lets Zekrom hit Groudon switch-ins hard and not be set-up bait for the plethora of set-up sweepers in the tier. Dragon Claw might be better than Volt Switch on this set for a reliable and consequence-less way to finish off weakened Groundceus and Groudon. Life Orb is probably best, and use the same spread but with a Naughty nature. Ho-Oh also lets you deal with CM Arceus better, and frees up space for the double-dance set on Groudon again.

Erm I think this is all I can see. Nice team, and good luck!

Hey tenefix! Great team, I really like it. I have a few suggestions that could possibly improve it. Though, this already looks like a solid team it's completely fine if you decide to keep your team at it's current state. Let's jump right into it:

Consider adding Stealth Rock on Jirachi for Protect which gives you space for Fire blast on Dialga. I see why you have protect, to safely receive a wish but It seems unnecessary to me. You're using Jirachi as a Xern check so it should be able to get off a Wish and receive it safely the majority of the time. With Sableye maybe get rid of Taunt for Calm Mind and drop Foul play for Shadow Ball. Though this change is entirely up to you. I play a more offensive play-style which is why I prefer a more offensive Sableye. Calm mind Sableye is pretty good for the most part, but what you have now is also fine. CM Sableye could help you compete with opposing Calm Mind mons( You could also put Calm Mind on Arceus-Fairy if you aren't comfortable with it on Sableye ). To solve your Darkrai problem, you can consider getting rid Dialga for Sleep Talk Ho-oh or Drop Zekrom for a different Scarfer, such as Genesect. Consider swapping Precipice Blades for Earthquake on Primal-Groudon. The accuracy is definitely worth it for losing some extra power. Besides, you're running Double-Dance and with A SD you'll get best the mons you want even with Earthquake. If you're concerned about missing out on some certain OHKOs, let me know what they are and I'll run some calcs for you. Trying to fit Yveltal onto your team somehow will give you priority and help with your Mega Gengar weakness.

That's all I really have for you right now, I'll let you know If I think of anything else that'll improve your team. As I said earlier though, this is already a nice team and my suggestions and merely just suggestions. They aren't requirements by any means. I hope I helped.

Hi tenefix,I don't think you can run a team without a pokemon immune to ground types specially seing how offensive don twave don and specially excadrill sand get threw this team easily. Also Darkrai looks like a threat. What i would suggest is:
1)Remove Dialga and use stealth rock instead of rock polish on don.You are pretty much good vs offense with sableye so swords dance would help you get threw bulkier builds which is enough.
2)you are also weak to calm mind arceus ghost as well as sd arceus ghost so I advice to run a scarfed yveltal.First helps you check darkrai better and gives you momentum with uturn+volt switch and also hits kinda hard when you need it.
Yveltal @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Dark Aura
EVs: 32 Def / 252 SAtk / 224 Spd
IVs: 0 Atk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- U-turn
- Dark Pulse
- Oblivion Wing
- Foul Play
hope i helped
