ORAS OU Rafflesia's Wrath

Sup Smogon, hello and welcome to my second Rate-My-Team, I built this team around the Pokémon that holds the most nostalgia for me, Venusaur, more specifically Mega Venusaur. Which is currently a great underrated 'Mon in the current metagame. I came up with this team after about 5 hours.

I started of with Mega Venusaur, since I've been dying to make a team with it since XY OU.

I then picked Venusaur's other half, Heatran which has amazing synergy with the big blob.

I was going to go with Rotom-Wash, but since I used it on my previous team, I wanted something new, I ended up choosing Keldeo.

My team was looking extremely weak to Psyshic types like the Lati twins, so I added Bisharp to trap and eliminate them.

Now I needed a Defog user, Lati@s immediately came to mind, being able to nuke a bunch of stuff, and having Healing Wish.

For my final 'Mon I taught I should finish a FDS core, CM + UA Clefable was what I settled on after looking a bit a Specs Sylveon.

To Counter MegaGross better, as recommended by scotti, I swaped Bisharp for CB Scizor

003-mega.gif

Venusaur-Mega @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 232 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain/Leaf Storm
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder/Hidden Power [Fire]
- Synthesis

I absolutely love this beauty, not just because of the major nostalgia of choosing it as my first starter ever in RBY, but because of the awesome things it can do, Mega Venusaur is a bit Anti-Meta, It check a bunch of heavy hitters like Mega Diancie, Mega Altaria, Keldeo, Mega Lopunny, Rain Offense and Azumarill.

Giga Drain is wonderful for severely hurting a bunch of Water-, Ground-, Rock- Types like Tyranitar, Azumarill, Mega Diancie, Keldeo Rotom-Wash and many more, while Leaf Storm is an alternative to hit harder the Special Attack drop, and lower recovery is less desirable. Sludge Bomb allows Mega Venusaur to acts as my Primary check to most Fairies, like the after-mentioned Mega Diancie, Mega Altaria, Azumarill, Mega Gardevoir and a few others, It's also useful to put the hut onto other Grass Types like Breloom and Chesnaught, the added 30% Poison Chance is useful too. Sleep Powder helps Mega Venusaur cripple opposing Pokémon for the entire match, while Hidden Power Fire is great allowing Mega Venusaur to break past Steel-Types, like Ferrothorn and Skarmory. Finally, Synthesis greatly increases Mega Venusaur's survivabilty, though you have to be weary of Sand. Venusaur's allow EVs allow it to hit as hard as possible, paired with a Modest Nature, I'm running 20 Speed to be able to outspeed Adamant Azumarill, The rest is invested in HP for additional bulk.

Heatran @ Air Balloon
EVs: 12 HP / 252 SpA / 244 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Ancient Power
- Earth Power

I somehow find myself finding a place for Heatran on 2/3 of the teams I make. The Air Balloon set is by far one of my favorites, allowing Heatran to be able to set up Rocks with ease, beat deffogers and still have some offensive prowess.

Fire Blast is Heatran's obligatory Fire-Type STAB, allowing it to dissect a handful of Steel-Types like Ferrothorn, Scizor, Magnzone and Skarmory. Fire Blast also hits Grass-and Ice-Types for good damage. Stealth Rock is vital to the team helping everyone turn some 2HKOs into important OHKOs. Ancient Power is there for Heatran to hurt Talonflame and Mega Charizard Y, also that 10% all stat boost is cool, turning a casual Heatran hit into doomsday for the opponent. Lastly, we have Earth Power, this allows Heatran to take on its own kind, Poison-, Fire- and Rock-Type Pokémon like Terrakion and Mega Charizard X, on the switch. Heatran's EVs allow it to hit as hard as possible, while 244 Speed with a Timid Nature allows 'Tran to outspeed Adamant Excadrill and Mega Heracross.

Keldeo @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Secret Sword

Keldeo is wonderful in the current meta, and the SubMind set is one of my favourites. Keldeo is great for the team, being able to take out Chansey, which is quite annoying to break for my team being 5/6 Special Attackers.

Substitute allows Keldeo to set up and keep away from status. Calm Mind has great synergy with Substitute and allows Keldeo to clean up. Scald is wonderful, badly hurting Fire-, Rock- and Ground-Types, while also possibly disabling Pokémon with a 30% burn chance. Lastly, Secret Sword is wonderful for breaking Steel-, Ice-, Normal-and Rock-Types, such as Tyranitar, Chansey, Weavile and Ferrothorn. Keldeo's EVs ensure It hits as hard and as fast as possible with minimum boosts.

212.gif

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Pursuit

Scizor is a beast, having priority, Pursuit trapping, he's a hole in one.
Scizor is great for the team trapping Lati@s and handling MegaGross which would otherwise sweep the team.

U-turn is wonderful for keeping up momentum on switches also does quite a bit to a bunch of Pokémon. Bullet Punch Is great priority that allows Scizor to power through Fairies, Ice- and Rock-Types, such as Weavile and Tyranitar. Superpower is wonderful for taking down pesky Steel Types like Ferrothron which would otherwise wall 'Zor. Pursuit is it's own beast allowing Scizor to get rid of Lati@s, which would be a huge pain to Mega Venusaur and Keldeo otherwise, and with the added plus of taking out Gengar. Scizor's EVs ensure It has maximum damage output with a Adamant nature, 248 HP is ran for an odd HP, the rest is dumped into Special Defense for extra bulk.

380.gif

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Roost

Latias is my hazard remover extraordinaire, and a great glue. It's amazing with its Dual STABs allow it to take down a bunch of Dragon-, Poison- and Fighting-Types such as Gengar, Mega Venusaur and Keldeo.

Defog is vital to the team, stopping 2HKOs from becoming OHKOs, and keeping the my side hazard free. Draco Meteor hits like a nuke, doing heavy damage to Pokémon such as Landorus, Thunderus, Mega Pinsir, Mega Gallade and Mega Manectric. Psyshock is a great secondary STAB powering through Breloom, Mega Venusaur, Keldeo, Conkeldurr, Amoonguss and Gengar. Finally, Rosst increases Latias' survivability and allows it to take on threats like Landorus-I. Latias' EVs and a Timid nature it outspeeds those 108 base speed Pokémon like Keldeo and Terrakion, 72 HP EVs allow Latias to be able to avoid a 2HKO from LO Thunderus' Hidden Power Ice.

036.gif

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled/Moonlight
- Flamethrower

I've never really tried out Calm Mind Clefable before, so I taught I'd try it out on this team, and boy is it good, Clefable is a downright beast. It a great win condition, and asset to this team being able to break a great number of 'Mons.

Calm Mind is the set's star, allowing Clefable to boost it's decent Special stats to impressive levels, and allowing it to sweep. Moonblast is Clefable's obligatory Fairy-Type STAB, allowing it to break Dragon-, Dark- and Fighting-Types even without boosts. Soft-Boiled is great, allowing Clefable to stallbreak and increase its survivability. Finally, Flamethrower is important for Clefable to be able to break through Pokémon Steel-Types such as Ferrothorn, which would otherwise it wall it. Clefable's EVs allow it to avoid 2HKOs from things such as LO Thunderus' Thunderbolt, LO Latios' Psyshock and LO Kyurem-B's Ice Beam without a Calm Mind. It alos prevent a 2HKO from Mega Venusaur's Sludge Bomb on the switch in.

Bisharp @ BlackGlasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 52 SpD / 204 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit

Bisharp is a beast, blocking Defog, having priority, Pursuit trapping, he's a hole in one.
Bisharp works wonderfully with this team, powering through a lot of Pokémon. I chose the BlackGlasses over Life Orb, since I felt that abusing it's three dark type attacks was a brilliant idea and not having LO recoil was a big plus.

Knock Off is great and usually my first priority while attacking, since it can disable Pokémon on the switch and is generally heavier hitting. Secondly, we have Iron Head which allows Bisharp to power through Fairies, Ice- and Rock-Types, such as Weavile and Tyranitar. Sucker Punch is wonderful for taking down faster Pokémon such as MegaGross to avoid getting swept. Pursuit is it's own beast allowing Bisharp to get rid of Lati@s, which would be a huge pain to Mega Venusaur and Keldeo otherwise, and Gengar. Bisharp's EVs ensure It has maximum damage output while 52 Special Defense EVs allow it to survive a Hidden Power Fire from Life Orb Latios at full health on a 50/50 with Sucker Punch and Pursuit, the remaining EVs are dumped into Speed.

May they not be forgotten.
Thanks for reading my RMT, hope you enjoyed it! Feel free to leave a rate.

EDIT: Changed Venusaurs's EVs
EDIT2: Changed HP Fire to Sleep Power, HW to Roost and MG to Unaware.
EDIT3: Swapped Bisharp for Scizor.
Changes in Italics.

Anyway, nice team. I have a small suggestion for venusaur. You say you run the speed to outrun jolly azumarill. I don't see why you would need to outrun azumarill has he does jack shit to venusur with any attack, unless he's already BD'd. However, I think it would be much more efficient and effective to run 20 speed evs to outspeed adamant azumarill, and just slap the remaining evs in HP. This way, you can be a better tank, taking less damage from attacks, while still hitting hard. Anyway nice team, feel free to use my suggestions or not.

Thanks, I couldn't not put in that Heatran image, it's awesome :)
Alright I changed up 'Saur's EVs.

Hey cool team, but I have a few suggestion to help make this team more effective.

Imo I would run sleep powder > hp fire. Your team handles steel types pretty well, so hp fire won't be that helpful. While sleep power would be extremely helpful against all types of team archetypes. Sleep Powder will allows you to cripple threats to your team, so it will relieve pressure from powerful threats like, making it easier to play with your team. Sleep powder is also nice against opposing bulky offense teams, because it cripples strong bulky mons, making it easier to break through the opposing team.

Another thing I would change is Roost > Healing Wish. Personally I am a huge fan of healing wish, but with latias as your only lando-i check, roost is pretty necessary. Lando-i still destroys your team if it has knock off, but with roost you can atleast take on other variants more reliably. Zard Y is another huge threat to your team, and running roost on latias keeps you from getting utterly destroyed by it. Roost just fits a lot better on a team like this, where a strong mon like lando or zard y can put in work against your team.

Another change that might helps is banded scizor > bisharp. Banded scizor is just a better check to mega metagross, and handles mega garde who is a huge threat to your team. Bisharp can also stay, as it takes on clefable better, but you have tran and mega venu, so I see banded scizor as a better mon overall for this team.

The last change I recommend is running CM Unaware Clefable > CM Magic Guard. Your team gets 6-0d by tail glow manaphy and tail glow rain dance manaphy. Your just straight up lose, as most run psychic and ice beam does a shit ton to venusaur. CM Unaware Clefable helps a shit ton with tail glow manaphy and takes on important threats like power up punch mega lopunny, sd gliscor, and mega heracross. It really helps your team and patches up most of the hole in your team.

I hope I helped.

Thanks for the Rate, All your changes sound good, just one thing... Does CB Scizor W/ U-Turn, Bullet Punch, Superpower and Pursuit Good? Or should I use Knock Off. Just ain't sure about Scizor.
