Introduction :

Hello, welcome to my new RMT, a very simple, brainless team for those who wants to ladd and go to the top quickly. The team features :choice specs: :raging bolt:, an absurd mon that has very switch in the tier. The whole idea of the team is to get rid off of Electric and Dragon immunities to maximize :raging bolt: breaking power. To do this, we will also bring a :Kingambit: that was once (like 1y and a half now I think) considered to be broken and banworthy : the Fairy one.
As I say earlier, Specs :raging bolt: has almost no switch-in in the tier. It acts as a solid wallbreaker that can pivot and also revenge kill with both Volt Switch and Thunderclap, his signature move that works like Sucker Punch. The goal is to turn this wallbreaker as a potential sweeper and cleaner. Volt switch of :raging bolt: is the strongest one that you can use in OU without electric support or absurd ideas. It will force our opponent to keep his ground type which will be use by use with the other teammates of the team.
Specs Bolt is also not weak to rocks contrary to :kyurem: and has pivoting and priority (:iron valiant: doesnt have pivoting move)

Teambuilding :

:Raging bolt: : The main idea, with a :choice specs:, Bolt turns out to be the most powerful pivot in the tier. Choice Specs gives Bolt immediate power everytime he comes into the field (As booster give only one boost and needs Calm Mind to start breaking). Thanks to the Choice item, Bolt can come into the field more often that his other counterparts that acts as sweepers. We only use his stab, Thunderbolt, Volt Switch and Thunderclap as Electric Move.
Volt Switch act as a pivot move that can continue to put pressure on opposing team, it really helps against bulkier archetype such as balance or stall. Volt switch will do decent damage against common special wall and will put a good answer into the field.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Dragon Raging Bolt Volt Switch vs. 4 HP / 252+ SpD Blissey: 115-136 (17.6 - 20.8%) -- possible 5HKO :blissey:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Dragon Raging Bolt Volt Switch vs. 20 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Alomomola: 300-354 (63 - 74.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO :alomomola:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Dragon Raging Bolt Volt Switch vs. 80 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Primarina: 230-272 (71.6 - 84.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO :primarina:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Dragon Raging Bolt Volt Switch vs. 252 HP / 104 SpD Assault Vest Hatterene: 115-136 (36.1 - 42.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO :hatterene:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Dragon Raging Bolt Volt Switch vs. 252 HP / 96 SpD Assault Vest Slowking-Galar: 111-132 (28.1 - 33.5%) -- 0.1% chance to 3HKO :slowking-galar:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Dragon Raging Bolt Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Iron Crown: 123-145 (38.3 - 45.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO :iron crown:

All common answer with :assault vest: hates to come into this guy. It will do enough damage to prevent regenerator healing and we will have the mometum to answer these mon.
Thunderbolt acts as a free move that can be use once opposing ground types are KO, which can be really easy into this team.
Thunderclap is his priority move that can do a lot of damage against opposing offensive threats.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Dragon Raging Bolt Thunderclap vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Iron Valiant: 295-348 (102 - 120.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO :iron valiant:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Dragon Raging Bolt Thunderclap vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ogerpon-Wellspring: 202-238 (67.1 - 79%) -- guaranteed 2HKO :ogerpon-wellspring:

As you can see, it can be a straight up KO for every :iron valiant:, it helps and forces 50/50 against Mon that want to set up :kingambit:, :dragonite:, :darkrai:. It's a very useful move.

And as a last, Draco Meteor. His Draco is one of the strongest in the game, it's almost a KO for every non resisting pokemon that come into the field.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Raging Bolt Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Zamazenta: 322-379 (99 - 116.6%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO :zamazenta:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Raging Bolt Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 204+ SpD Garganacl: 294-346 (72.7 - 85.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery :garganacl:

Tera Dragon will completely boost his move to absurd level, even common special wall will not like to come into the field
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Dragon Raging Bolt Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 204+ SpD Garganacl: 392-462 (97 - 114.3%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Dragon Raging Bolt Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Vessel of Ruin Ting-Lu: 304-358 (59.1 - 69.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery :ting-lu:

All the team will try to help Bolt for his capacities to break almost every team, even stall (yes blissey doesnt like to come against this guy)

:ogerpon-wellspring: : The best logical teammates, a strong physical attacker that beats every Ground in the tier ! I choose a pivot set with encore to help :raging bolt: coming up to the field against :ogerpon-wellspring: common checks such as :corviknight;, :pecharunt:, :weezing-galar:... Ivy Cudgel is her main stab, and Power Whip is really important to punish common foes that want to turn into water to check this guy (hello :garganacl:). It's one of her most important move that can be use to take a KO. U-turn helps to have a strong pivot core with :raging bolt: and :landorus-therian: and encore punish common set-up sweeper and lock pokemon into priority move -> :kingambit:, :raging bolt:, recovery mon that comes often on Ogerpon...
Not much to say, these two mons forms a really good core that can almost break every opposing team or ideas. :ogerpon-wellspring: really helps against :alomomola: with Wish forcing our opponent to do really agressive anticipation that can be benefit for us.

:hatterene: : Because we do not play boots on every offensive mon in our team, we need kind of a hazard control. Stealth Rock is not that a deal because we dont have mons that are weak to rocks. She can come into most Spikes setter in the tier (:ting-lu: :gliscor:...) and preventing hazard settings. With an :assault vest:, she can take hits from common special attacker, for example :darkrai:, or booster :iron valiant:. She can also help against strong specs mon in 1v1 :iron valiant: :enamorus: :kyurem:
She is the sponge of the team, giving us both defensive and offensive option that can be use to prevent a lot of pokemon to break us.

:landorus-therian: : Not much too say too; ground immunities, rock, intimidate, rocky helmet to punish opposing physical attacker. It fits really well into the team providing a third member for our pivoting core and a defensive answer against physical attacker.
Taunt helps to prevent :dragonite: or other mon to do shenaningan, while Earth Power is one of our option to do damage against opposing :zamazenta:. EP also helps against :pecharunt: as it does more damage than Earthquake.

:kingambit: The second idea to help :raging bolt: sweeping potential is Fairy Kingambit. Currently the most played Ground types in the tier are :great tusk: and :ting-lu:. Tusk is the best answer against :kingambit:, which is why we play Tera Blast fairy to immediatly get rid off this guy. Most teams in the metagame play only one ground. The surprise and getting rid of Ground type will help :raging bolt: to spam electric move such as Volt Switch to always have the momentum while doing a lot of damage. I choose to get ridd of Kowtow Cleave for Iron Head, because i want to hit Fairy super effectively without Tera. :weezing galar: :clefable: :iron valiant: :enamorus: :hatterene: are all mons that can be threatening for us. While most :kingambit: are late game cleaner, we can use our :kingambit: really quickly in the game to immedialty take down a key mon to helps our other teammates. But while we have this idea, we can still use this guy as a late game cleaner that spam his boosted sucker punch.

An other idea of Fairy Gambit come with :ogerpon-wellsping:. Because :ogerpon-wellsping: can force opposing :dondozo: to Tera into both Fighting or Dragon, :kingambit: can immedialtely become a potent stallbreaker that will use his Fairy stab to beat Dozo once opposing :corviknight: are low. Fairy Gambit isnt new but it fits really well into this team. 252 speed 252 attk is really common now, but as always, i want to be faster than opposing slow Gambit and slow :corviknight: .

As last, :zamazenta:. It's both a potential win condition that can sweep in late game and an enabler against opposing mon that want to set up. Roar + tera fire helps a lot and give :zamazenta: a defensive utility in case we cant sweep immediatly. Roar will help a lot against :dragonite: or bulky Cm user :clefable: for example. Fire prevents burning and give us a Fairy resistance (we are super weak to Fairy x) ). His speed and ability to take advantage of physical attacker helps a lot in the team.
I choose Crunch over Heavy Slam because :slowking-galar: can be more annoying than fairy. Also, Slowking has x4 resistance against Fighting type while there is only :enamorus: that can really come and take hits as a fairy with :hatterene:

Threats :

As you can see in the team, we do not have a Fairy resistance. :iron valiant: :enamorus: :clefable: :hatterene: can all be annoying mon, be careful if they are choice lock with fairy type, you need to be really precise to beat them.

:dragonite:, it can be threatening with encore set and Ghost tera, or straight up Fly tera blast. Try to keep the tera as long as possible when you see one

:garganacl: :pecharunt: :alomomola: it's a precise idea, but common defensive core with alomomola can be hard to deal with if the opposing alomomola has wish and there is a strong ground type as a backup. You will start to considering tera dragon on :raging bolt: to beat these.

:slowking-galar: hard to kill, a special attacker that beats :hatterene: quickly, :kingambit: is our savior, be careful to not take strong Fire move and you can play around. Assault vest are annoying, boots one can be deal with Bolt

started seriously laddering gen 9 ou again and loaded a team from the rmt which ended up being this one. this is the first time ive been able to consistently stay in 1600s, with good prediction the boltspring offensive core is way too good for this meta to handle man. kudos to you!

edit: just reached 1700s, this team is so damn good sadkamwkknebf

I’ve been spamming a version of this team with Boots Pult in the Bolt slot — otherwise almost exactly the same. 4a wellspring, standard ghost Gambit. But otherwise basically the same structure. Been my most successful team in Gen9 OU.

Good stuff, awesome team.

Grats on your peak then. Hope you had fun using it

The team is pretty solid, and everyone performs well overall. But I've noticed that it suffers especially with H-Samurott. And although the problem would be easily fixed by adding Tusk, the synergy of the whole team would be broken.

That doesn't take away from the fact that it's a fantastic team lol

Try out the boots Pult version, having the wisp + second u-turn with Ogerpon-w helps a lot. Just watch out for sucker / scarf. You still get dragon move + pivot utility, and there’s some added speed control.
