Introduction: After playing shoddy for 2 months now, I've gotten bored with the constant OU metagame being the same thing. All it is is pretty much set up rocks, get sweeper in, hope for the best. I wanted to try something different, and I started looking at UU battle. I thought, hey, why not try a rain dance team too? So here it is, my rain dance team! Right now this team wins at a ratio of 8 out of 10 games, which is incredible for me.

The Sneaky Lead
Persian @ Damp Rock
Ability: Limber
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Speed/ 4 Attack
Nature: Jolly
- Rain Dance
- Hypnosis
- Taunt
- U-Turn
I began this rain dance team as OU, but eventually found that UU was more fun. This Persian set is exactly the same as my crobat set when it was OU. The point of this set is too not let the foe's lead set up, while at the same time getting rain dance up for my team. Persian outruns many common leads, and even ties with the famed Ambipom.

The moveset I used has been working extremely well for me. On the first turn I look at the other lead, and see what I'm up against. If it is something I know will try to status or SR, I taunt. If the foe might have a chance doing some decent damage to me, then I hypnosis. The concept is quite simple, but works wonders. On the switch I Rain Dance, then U-Turn to a counter.

The ability Limber is because I have no need for technician, and being able to not be paralyzed is a nice bonus lol. Damp Rock for obviously getting the rain in, and the EV's are to give it more of a bulky set, allowing Persian to come in more than once and set up rain. Jolly Nature and Speed EV's to let Persian go first against many things.

One problem I do have problems with is Yanmega Leads. They out speed me and can set up easily on my Persian, who relies on going first. I'm thinking about switching to Electrode also, who could set up Rain and also abuse Thunder.

Ludicolo.jpg
The Pineapple Sweep
Ludicolo @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 204 HP/ 252 Special A./ 54 Special D.
Nature: Modest
- Rain Dance
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball
This member of the team has been my MVP for many games. Most expect Ludicolo to be bulky, but I've set him up here as my special sweeper.

The ability Swift Swim is obvious, letting me out speed anything not scarfed, and some things that are. His moveset provides amazing coverage, and a STAB rain-dance-boosted Surf is nothing to be laughed at. EV's provide him with a Leftover friendly HP, full Special Attack for his sweeping potential, and the rest into Special Defense to let him be a little bit bulky. I did not put any into speed due to with Rain Dance, he already out speeds everything.

A problem for his sweep is being paralyzed. Because of this if I think I'm going to be paralyzed, I will usually switch to Persian.

EX13_BST_kabutops.jpg
Physical Sweeper/Revenge Killer
Kabutops @ Mystic Water
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 90 HP/ 252 Attack/ 168 Speed
Nature: Adamant
- Swords Dance
- Aqua Jet
- Aqua Tail
- Aerial Ace
Oh Swords Dance Kabutops, you either sweep the entire other team, or you end up being completely useless to me. No really, that's how it is. Kabutops is probably the frailest pokemon in the game, that can actually be used competively (I know that's spelled wrong lol). The only way I can get him in is on a resisted attack, or through if the opponent is asleep due to Persian's Hypnosis.

The main strategy is to get Swords Dance up, and then my main attack is Aqua Tail. Aqua Jet provides a nice priority, being able to OHKO Arcanine. Aerial Ace I'll admit I rarely use. But it is there in case I go up against a Poliwrath/Croagunk, who resists Aqua Tail completely. Mystic Water is for powering up my water moves. Many people might say Life Orb is better, but after using this team for a while I've seen that most hits on Kabutops bring him down to around 20 percent, letting him only sweep 2 pokemon. Mystic water allows me to keep sweeping throughout the entire team. I rarely use Aerial Ace anyways; even when a pokemon resists Aqua Tail a STAB Rain-boosted and Mystic water boosted attack is usually better than earthquake lol.

The EV's allow Kabutops to have his full sweeping ability. Full attack for power and 168 EV's allows Kabutops to outrun a +1 Speed Yanmega in the rain. The rest I put into HP so he could survive a few OHKO's.

Revenge Monkey!
Ambipom @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP/252 Attack/ 252 Speed
Nature: Adamant
- Fake Out
- U-Turn
- Return
- Toxic
I now understand why so many people hate this little monkey! It's a monster! I mean really, I don't know why it hasn't been moved to OU, but since it hasn't...I think I'll use it lol.

The moveset is fairly simple. Come in on a pokemon weakened and hit it for between 20-50 percent of Fake Out damage. Then if the pokemon is not dead yet, either U-Turn the hell out of there, or go for the kill with a STAB Return. Toxic if for hitting any ghost pokemon that want to switch in to Ambipom. EV's are for full powered sweeping/revenge killing. Silk scarf because I don't want to waste HP with Life Orb, and the only real attacks I'm using are Normal typing, because I mainly use U-Turn just to get out.

Ambipom has been extremely useful to my team. Even though he doesn't benefit from rain, he seems to fit right in. He can come in on many pokemon and either OHKO or 2HKO with Fake Out and Return. The only problem I have is on a Registeel coming in, who Kabutops can OHKO with or Swords Dance or Ludicolo can 2HKO if it’s not running a SpD set.

The Underrated Blowfish
Qwilfish @ Damp Rock
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Attack/ 252 Speed
Nature: Adamant
- Waterfall
- Poison Jab
- Rain Dance
- Explosion
When I first made this team, I was going to use Qwilfish mainly as a rain supplier, but I've learned that he actually has some sweeping capabilities. Qwilfish also has gotten me out of many tight spots, blowing up on a rampaging sweeper or wall I just can't seem to break.

With the EV's given, Qwilfish has a decent attack of 317. In the rain this is quite threatening, 2HKO'ing many pokes with waterfall. Poison jab is there for another stab, and explosion to help end a sweep. Qwilfish has also come into use late game, setting up rain for my other sweepers or him. In the rain he can out speed anything not scarfed, which is also very helpful.

The Tank/Rain Replenish/Staller
Altaria @ Damp Rock
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/ 200 Defense/ 56 Sp. D
Nature: Calm
- Dragon Pulse
- Roost
- Toxic
- Rain Dance
No offense but Altaria is the person I like least on this team. idk why though lol. Altaria does her job well, mainly I only use her for replenishing rain though. She can come in on many attacks, take the hit, set up rain, and then toxi-stall till they switch. That gives me a chance to get in my other sweepers who are supported by rain.

Dragon Pulse is just a nice STAB that actually does a decent amount of damage against many pokes. Roost if for recovery in a stall, and toxic to just spread some damage around. Rain Dance to help out the team. Natural Cure works wonders with Altaria on this set, due to many people coming in and poisoning/paralyzing her. EV's are to give her tanking power. Damp rock for more rain haha.
