I'm pretty new to competitive Pokemon, and so are a group of friends that wanted to play a bit together, so we made a set of house rules (to prevent the more experienced ones from steamrolling everyone) that involve limiting the variety of Pokemon that we could choose by getting a random set of Pokemon each, y'know, for fun!
In the end, out of the Pokemon I got, I was able to make what I feel is a pretty decent dedicated rain team, but I'm looking for suggestions since the people I'm playing against got some pretty good stuff.
Edit: I just realized I completely forgot to include explanations for each team member, I'm sorry
This is the team
Ludicolo @ Waterium Z
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Energy Ball
- Ice Beam
- Fake Out
Here's the star of the show. The moment I saw this dude among my options I knew what I had to do. I went with a pretty standard special sweeper ludicolo. Not much to explain here.
Floatzel @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
- Taunt
- Waterfall
Though not my first option, I felt like I should have a physical sweeer option just in case, plus the access to taunt feels pretty nice for preventing others from setting up on me
Crobat @ Damp Rock
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rain Dance
- Roost
- U-turn
- Hypnosis
Here's the lead. His job is to set up rain dance, maybe send the enemy lead to sleep, and then switch out for a sweeper. During mid game he can come back, roost to get health back, and then set rain back up.
Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Recover
- Toxic
He's here just in case a wall is needed to stop an enemy sweeper manages to set up. Plus, electric inmunity and toxic are pretty good additions to the team, I feel.
Altaria (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Heal Bell
- Flamethrower
- Rain Dance
This one definetively needs an explanation for the flamethrower on rain.
Dedicated support and Ferrothorn countermeasure, since I already got stomped once by it during one of the test runs with my friends.
Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder
- Recover
- Hydro Pump
- Psyshock
Seeing as I got it, I felt like a fast boosted hydro pump could be very good. That plus the guaranteed thunder, recovery and stab psychic for coverage.
Other Pokemon I got that could be swapped in are Empoleon, Lumineon, Milotic, Glaceon, Silvally, Dragalge, Bouffalant, Coffagrigus, Hitmonchan, Gigalith, Dusclops, Galvantula, Simipour, Bruxish, Primeape, Masquerain and Marill.
I want to apologize in advance for any fuck ups I make in this post, as it's the very first one I've ever made in this forum.
