SV DOU Rain setting team 1st team

Tornadus @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Bleakwind Storm
- Rain Dance
- Tailwind
- Protect
Tornadus is one of the three setup leads of itself, pelipper and incin. If I lead with Pelipper there can be a switch out to torn in order to setup a tailwind this usually goes alongside landorus for the bleakwind and sandsear in the rain so that it doesn't miss or it goes with raging bolt so that it can get off it's thunder with a higher speed stat than the opponent. The tailwind is for speed control to assist raging bolt mostly who is lacking in speed or to beat out choice scarf users. It has tera steel typing to gain extra resistances if needed and has a sitrus berry to increase its survivability along with high special defence as a lot of electric type move are special and ice has a mix. The rain dance is to support pelipper because it allows for me not to rely on a single rain setter.

Pelipper @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Drizzle
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 248 HP / 144 Def / 116 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane
- Protect
- Tailwind
- Weather ball
Pelipper is the ideal lead because of its ability drizzle which allows for rain to be set up immediately and it is usually partnered with landorus who already has a high speed stat or setup tailwind with raging bolt so that it can land it's thunders consistently. It has hurricane as a strong move that can't miss in the rain. This is a vital part of the team because switching it in allows for me to control the weather as I have used it to get around sandstorm teams. Weather ball is a different STAB option just for versatility. I gave it a split in def and spd because I wanted it to land a long time even around neutral hits. The tailwind is so I have another tailwind setter.

Raging Bolt @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Thunder
- Thunderclap
- Dragon Pulse
- Protect
This is one of two main sweepers. The other is landorus. I have thunder because this is a rain team so a strong move that won't miss is a must. I have made the tera electric to get around fairy and ice type weakness like chien pao and dazzling gleam while also having a very strong thunderclap. Dragon pulse is a move to get around electric resistances or to take advantage of other dragon types. The high hp is to make sure it has higher survivability. Usually I use protect the first turn I am on the field with pelipper so that it can take advantage of the tailwind. The special attack is high as possible when supported by the booster energy so that even resisted hits can ko.

Landorus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sandsear Storm
- Protect
- Substitute
- Sludge Bomb
Landorus is running sheer force as the secondary sweeper through the use of sandsear storm which doesn't miss in rain as well as sludge bomb for coverage. Substitute is used to take advantage of setup teams as they have to waste a turn to bypass it and allow for the rain and tailwind to be setup again. This allows for getting off damage easier alongside the extra damage from the life orb.

Incineroar @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SpD
Impish Nature
- Fake Out
- Knock Off
- Parting Shot
- Helping Hand
The big classic is incin. He has fakeout to slow down pokemon. Knock off to stop choice pokemon and parting shot to get a switch out while nerfing the other pokemon. Helping hand is usually used with sandsear or bleakwind to output large spread damage.

Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 248 HP / 28 Atk / 80 Def / 80 SpD / 72 Spe
Careful Nature
- Ivy Cudgel
- Wood Hammer
- Follow Me
- Spiky Shield
This is the versatile sweeper/support as they can hit hard with ivy cudgel and wood hammer. Follow me is used to protect key pokemon so that they can live longer. They were given enough attack to ohko pokemon and enough speed to outspeed most which is not needed the most because of tailwind so follow me to protect the tailwind users. Spiky shield is just better protect.

I would appreciate any advice on how to improve the team or strategy or both.

Hey Kuraokami0, I see you have this team here, although it looks more like a VGC team over a SV OU team. If this is purposeful, I can’t help you. If it is for VGC or some kind of doubles format, the team should be in the Other Team RMT forum, so I suggest you move it there.

Ok I'm not sure how to group it because this is the team I use for doubles OU SV so could you point me in the correct one to send this in.

This team is incredibly weak to many popular archetypes such as priority spam (usually entei/dragonite with extreme speed + chien pao with sucker punch), psy spam (indeedee-f + iron crown or other mons with expanding force), snow (kyurem with freeze-fry and ninetales-a) and Trick Room. Here, I highly recommend using archaludon over raging bolt since it will at least resist some of the mentioned moves as well as give you a wider variety of a move pool.

For the rest of your mons, I recommend making small changes.
  • Pelipper is better off having Damp Rock because its only job is to maintain Rain as long as possible, not staying in battle. I use Status moves such as Helping Hand and Wide Guard for my Pelipper, but what you have is also fine.
  • Incineroar is better of having Sitrus Berry because its job is also not to be in battle. It is supposed Fake Out, lower stats, and repeat. Leftover is better if a mon remains on the field. I personally use Snarl on my Incineroar, but having Helping Hand on your Incineroar is fine.
  • You need a way to prevent Trick Room. Farigiraf prevents Taunt if used by Tornadus, so I recommend putting the move on Incineroar or Ogerpon-Wellspring depending on your taste.
Here is team that you can use: https://pokepast.es/e0ff283ceb55b2af. It's not too different from what you already have, but I think you will find it somewhat helpful. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you for the advice I'll look more into what you pointed out and thanks for the example team to go off of.
