Rain+Stall+Offence+Freedom=BW OU RMT

Changes are colored in the bold blood of my fallen foes!!

Hello fellow Smogonites! This is my newest (and most successful; 80% win rate) team. It’s a rain based team and I already know that everyone hates rain so keep those comments to yourself.

First off I must say that I’m generally a stall player. And this team started off as pure rainstall but has evolved into this weird hybrid of a team. I supposed you could call it balanced; idk. Anyway I really wanted to abuse Sableye’s new ability, prankster, which gives him a very nice priority Will-o-Wisp that allows him to wall pretty much and physical threat.
sableye.png

From there I needed somebody to draw in those physical attacks, namely fighting type moves, and still adhered to the stall archetype. Naturally Ferrothorn was chose as my first hazard layer and also walls physical threats very well.

With my physical defence through the roof I needed some special walls, and after trying both Blissey and Chansey I settled on Tentacruel. He gives me a very nice wall + has the added benefits of providing toxic spikes AND spinning which I think is something every stall team needs.

I realized at this point that to make Tentacruel truly a horror I needed Politoed to set up some very nice permarain. This is where the teams focus shifted slighty to abuse the rain better. Perish song is a real boon to this team especially alongside Sabby.

I wanted to stick to stall completely and tried many MANY different pokes here. After realizing that Gyarados could act as a great wall with intimidate and substitute I added him to the team. Waterfall in the rain is nothing to scoff at and from behind his sub he can Dragon Dance and proceed to sweep.

My electric weakness was astounding and Ferrothorn resist just wasn’t cutting it. I needed a Magnezone check as well and after going through about 7 different pokes I arrived at Eelectross and I never looked back.

After the suggestions by Scarfwynaut I playtested Jolteon, Dragonite, and the different Gyarados set I've changed my Gyarados but found that Sableye and Eelektross tend to fit my playstyle better which is abstract at best. =]

After realizing my prior mistake in keeping Eelektross I've replaced him with a cleric named Chansey. Let's face it, Blissey is is just not as bulky as her first gen sister. Eviolite makes Chansey great.

Slippy (Politoed) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Perish Song
- Protect
I usually lead with this little froggy as he set up rain for my team to frolic in. Scald is used over Hydro pump since this set really likes burns but I opted for Icebeam so Poli could switch into burned outrages and laugh as he KOs the unsuspecting flying lizards. Perish Song is selcted to hopefully curb Boosting pokes from setting up and Protect allows me to stall for the songs end. I’ve tried HP grass in protects slot but it really never came in handy.

The given EVs, Nature, and Item maximize bulk so Poli could tank those dragons after Sabby or he himself burns them.

The Horror (Tentacruel) (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Protect
The Horror! THE HORRRRRROOOORRRR!!! Truly Tenta is a scary sight in the rain. Tspikes + Rapid Spin are already good. Add to that Rain Dish AND Black sludge and you have a very nice special wall. Tenta tends to draw in earthquakes but Gyarados and Eelectross ignore them and love the free switches. Scald is here to burn, burn, burn while protect allows Tenta to heal himself in the rain.

The EVs, Nature, Item, and Ability maximize Tenta’s staying power and that’s that.

Roth (Ferrothorn) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Power Whip
- Protect
Ah Ferrothorn. The Monster Duran Fruit from the Black Lagoon! This guy walls and sets up hazards like Forretress wishs it could. Power Whip is used since I severely lack grass coverage on the team but it doesn’t exactly FTKO anything. Protect is for toxistalling.

The EVs and Nature give Ferro a nice special boost while still allowing him to fulfill his role as a physical wall.

Yara (Gyarados) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 160 HP / 72 Atk / 180 Def/ 96 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Taunt
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Bounce
Gyara, the Real third evolution to Dratini and Dragonair, is here to sweep up the mess left behind by Eelektross and does so with such fervor is heart rending to watch. Still brings a tear to my eye…=’[. Anyway, this is the standard Sub+DDance set so I won’t waste your time on explaining it other than the fact that Dragon Tail is used over Bounce. While Bounce is an amazing STAB on Gyara I really needed some type of phazer on the team to dispose of boosting sweepers.

I've changed Gyarados to wield Taunt and Bounce and it's been very useful to have two speedy Taunts on the team. =]

Able (Sableye) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Recover
- Night Shade
The MVP of this team and any team he’s played on is this little diamond eating, red-neck scaring, UFO piloting, cave dwelling goblin. Priority Wow and Taunt AND Recover let Sabby stall until dawn at which point he falls asleep and dreams of the nights adventure. Can you tell I like Sableye? Lols. Night Shade deals consistent damage although not having Foul Play is severely missed sometimes. Dang 4moveslotsyndrome.

Well the EVs give him the ability to wall Special hits also and after he burns most physical sweepers he just plays around until their charred remain are blown away by the wind.

2mhua9d.jpg

Maeby (Chansey) (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Protect
- Seismic Toss
Chansey is here to act as Cleric and the obvious wall. Heal Bell and Wish heal my team while protect allows her to wish herself happy. Seismic Toss keeps her from being shut down by Taunt. She also draws in fighting type attacks that Sableye loves to abuse.

EVs and Nature and Item are here to bulk miss Chansey up to EXTRMEMEEMREREM levels. She can even tank some STAB fighting type attacks unlike her lowly older sister.

PAST TEAM PLAYERS
9r3vya.jpg

Lex (Eelektross) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Acid Spray
- Thunder
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Ice]
The odd duck (or Eel) on the team but he has really proven useful. Acid spray lowers SDef 2 stages and forces a lot of switches which allows Eel to abuse Acid Spray yet again. Thunder in the rain after an Acid Spray is pretty much a KO. Flamethrower is very nice for opposing ferrothorn and the like while HP Ice gives him a nice little faux Boltbeam combo.

The EVs, Nature, and Item are not exactly standard but neither is Eelektross. They maximizes his special bulk so he can wall some hits and does so amazingly well.

Well I hope you like the RMT and the team and I hope I get a lot of help with it. I know it’s not exactly the most standard OU team but it does win and win often. It only takes a little prediction and big ole smile. =]

Pretty cool team bro.

First thing I have to say is this team has a large weakness to opposing grass types. Ferrothorn can set up easily on most of this team, including your spinner. Celebi pretty much sweeps this team either 1 or 2 HKOing everything bar Sableye, which can't do much outside of taunt it and use willow-wisp. Breloom and Virizion are similar stories, but at least Gyrados can phase them if need be. Venusaur or any sun sweeper under the sun will pretty much sweep you.

One suggestion I would consider is using a specially defensive Dragonite. Dragonite will help with various problems for this team including walling all those grass types, as well as calm mind Jirachi, Tornadus, and Alakazam. It will also add an additional phaser to the team. Dragonite would be a great pokemon for this team, I would suggest it over Sableye, since this team doesn't really need a spin blocker, and both perform more or less the same job. But if you want to keep it, it can fit in on Eelektross's place.

Speaking of Electross, if you do go for Dragonite > Sableye, I still suggest you switch it; there are much better pokemon for this slot. One to consider is Jolteon which has a higher special attack to boot, and speed to revenge kill. For this I suggest a scarf Jolteon which can outspeed several threats such as Salamence and Dragonite, it also helps deal with other various fast but frail pokemon. If you wish you can just use a normal variant, it only loses to Salamence really. For the scarf set I suggest a spread of Modest-36 HP / 252 SAtk / 220 Spd which gives you just enough speed to beat scarf Latios, which is all you need.

Ferrothorn is a bitch to deal with, so I suggest you use a substitute Tentacruel to beat it. It’s simply a switch from protect to substitute on it to beat out Ferrothorn by stalling out power whip PP and scalding it to slowly kill it.

I don't know why Ferrothorn has protect here to be honest, it seems silly. Give it gyroball to deal with dragons easier.

Finally I suggest you use a more bulky dragon dance Gyarados over your current version. 160 HP / 72 Atk / 180 Def / 96 Spd is the optimal spread, outspeeding 115 speed pokemon after a boost, while giving you the attack and defense you need. Taunt and bounce are suggested here because dragon tail is not needed because you can just shut down threats with taunt, and bounce actually kills those fighting types.
In short:

-Specially Defensive Dragonite > Sableye / Eelektross
-Scarf Jolteon > Eelektross
-Substitute > Protect on Tentacruel
-Bulky Gyrarados with taunt and bounce
-Gyro Ball > Protect on Forretress

Jolteon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 36 HP / 252 SAtk / 220 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Shadow Ball

Ice King (Dragonite) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SAtk / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Roost
- Dragon Tail
- Hurricane
- Thunder

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 160 HP / 72 Atk / 180 Def / 96 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Bounce

Thank you so much for the rate and suggestions. The detail here is really helpful thanks. I'll try all these suggestions but my only complaint is that i really wana keep sableye. He's one of my favorite pokes and I like to use at least one of my favorites on each team.

Right, that makes sense.
I'm slightly new around here, I didn't realize it was for a simulator.

Just one other thing, you might want to change your sableye from Careful to Calm
Calm = +SpD/-Atk
Careful = +SpD/-SpA

I just think with your moveset, because night shade is your attacking move, calm fits better
