Randbats Spotlight Ladder!
The Randbats Spotlight Ladder's purpose is simple: to give formats that would not otherwise have a chance to be played on a wider scale. Each other month, four options will be given, and the winner after a week of voting will have its own ladder for a period of two months!
As usual, this Randbats Spotlight will feature a SMOGON TOURNAMENT related to it. More details about this tournament are included in this thread, so keep reading!
YOU MAY VOTE FOR MULTIPLE FORMATS!
What are all these formats and mods?
VGC Rands: This isn't actually VGC, but it's the closest Randbats will get! It's Gen 9 Random Doubles where you have to choose 4 of your 6 Pokemon to use in battle, like how VGC does it!
For the same reason, this format will be in best of 3 and will include Team Preview, Open Team Sheets and the classic VGC timer, so be ready to take quick decisions!
Force of the Fallen Random Roulette: Random Roulette is that format where you will play in a randomly selected generation from 1 to 9, but Force of the Fallen adds an interesting twist! Once a pokemon is defeated, the last move in its moveset will be inherited by all its teammates, which means that sometimes sacking a pokemon can be a viable strategy to create an even more powerful monster in the back!
Gen 8 Broken Cup: Broken Cup returns to spotlight votes with a third iteration! This time there is no tera but you will have access to the very powerful dynamax mechanic. Whether you use it to facilitate a sweep or to prevent one, dyna requires great skill to control the pace of a game. WIll you be able to master it and triumph in this even more broken version of HC?
Gen 4 Dicemons (aka with variable number of mons): In this format you will play a standard game of gen 4 random battle, but the number of pokemon will be randomly determined before the match starts. From a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 12, the rolling dice will have the power to drastically change the type of match you and your opponent are going to play!
!IMPORTANT! Tournament information
This month's Randbats Spotlight is going to include a SMOGON TOURNAMENT. The format of this tournament will be the format chosen as the Randbats Spotlight. The length of this tournament will be 2 months, which will determine the pace of the tournament. The prize of the tournament will be 1 month of RPW (Room Prize Winner) and the possibility to pick a format for the next Randbats Spotlight poll!
How do I sign up?
Please do not sign up in this thread, a new thread will be open for the tournament itself.
Rules and additional details:
- When selecting a format to vote on as the winner, you will have a wide array of options, from modded variants of ladders that already exist, to formats that are challenge-only, to formats that don't exist at all! However, these are subject to coding limitations, and formats that have recently been a bimonthly spotlight cannot be voted on again for several months.
- This thread is open for discussion. Stay cordial, follow all site rules.
- Only votes in the poll above will count. Please do not type your vote out in a reply.
