Randbats Spotlight Ladder!
The Randbats Spotlight Ladder's purpose is simple: to give formats that would not otherwise have a chance to be played on a wider scale. Each other month, four options will be given, and the winner after a week of voting will have its own ladder for a period of two months!
As usual, this Randbats Spotlight will feature a SMOGON TOURNAMENT related to it. More details about this tournament are included in this thread, so keep reading!
YOU MAY VOTE FOR MULTIPLE FORMATS!
What are all these formats and mods?
Challenge Cup 6v6 First Blood: First Blood changes the standard rule of pokemon battles, making it so that the first player to score a ko wins the match. This time we mixed it with Challenge Cup, a bizarre format where your pokemon will randomly have any legal ability, moves, and item. Knowing movepools, scouting for coverage and using your threats accordingly are the keys to triumph here!
6 max move slots Partners In Crime Random Doubles: This is a doubles-based metagame with the twist that you share your ability and moves with your active partner. This means that you are able to use any of the moves available to both of your active Pokemon, i.e. up to 12 moves will appear on the move select screen. Additionally, this means both of your active Pokemon will have each other's ability in addition to their own.
Gen 3 Random Battle Blitz: The most anxiety-inducing format is back to promise fast paced matches in gen 3. Can you pick your move wisely with just 15 seconds at your disposal? Most importantly, can you survive your own Internet connection? If the answer to both is "yes", then maybe this is the right format for you!
Gen 6 Protean Palace Random Battle: Every Pokemon, in addition to their normal abilities, has the effect of Gen 6 Protean. Every move you make, you change your Pokemon's type to that move!
!IMPORTANT! Tournament information
This month's Randbats Spotlight is going to include a SMOGON TOURNAMENT. The format of this tournament will be the format chosen as the Randbats Spotlight. The length of this tournament will be 2 months, which will determine the pace of the tournament. The prize of the tournament will be 1 month of RPW (Room Prize Winner) and the possibility to pick a format for the next Randbats Spotlight poll!
How do I sign up?
Please do not sign up in this thread, a new thread will be open for the tournament itself.
Rules and additional details:
- When selecting a format to vote on as the winner, you will have a wide array of options, from modded variants of ladders that already exist, to formats that are challenge-only, to formats that don't exist at all! However, these are subject to coding limitations, and formats that have recently been a bimonthly spotlight cannot be voted on again for several months.
