Randbats Spotlight Ladder!
The Randbats Spotlight Ladder's purpose is simple: to give formats that would not otherwise have a chance to be played on a wider scale. Each other month, four options will be given, and the winner after a week of voting will have its own ladder for a period of two months!
As usual, this Randbats Spotlight will feature a SMOGON TOURNAMENT related to it. More details about this tournament are included in this thread, so keep reading!
YOU MAY VOTE FOR MULTIPLE FORMATS!
What are all these formats and mods?
Level 100 Random Battle Mayhem: We all know that in Mayhem some Pokemon are incredibly broken (looking at you, Pikachu), and OHKOs are the norm. Taking every Pokemon to level 100 was one idea to bring some order to the chaos. This should help slow down the pace of the matches and restrain the power of certain Pokemon while preserving the ability to adapt to the multiple mods this format has to offer!
BSSF Trio: Since the first experiment with a "best-of-3" Spotlight ladder worked pretty well, why not do it again? BSSF Trio will allow you to play a best-of-3 series in which every game you'll get to play a different generation (7-8-9) of Battle Spot Singles Factory. Master different mechanics, Pokemon, and sets and become the most versatile BSSF player!
Twisted Dimension Gen 9 Random Battle: Twisted Dimension is the mod that sets up a permanent Trick Room on the field, which means that the slowest Pokemon will now move first for the entirety of the game! Threats like Crabominable and Gumshoos become even more deadly in this modded format, so use them wisely to break through your opponent's team!
Timeout Auto Choose Gen 9 Hyperblitz: The bug that afflicted the timer in Blitz in the last month is now gone, but playing an even faster variant of this format would be quite exhilarating, wouldn't it? In Hyperblitz, you'll have only 10 seconds to pick a move, but fear not! Losing due to inactivity is made impossible by the "Timeout Auto Choose" rule, which makes the game automatically select the first move in your moveset once the timer hits 0. So yes, there is a scenario where you can actually win games by doing... absolutely nothing (we have discovered this is not entirely true)
!IMPORTANT! Tournament information
This month's Randbats Spotlight is going to include a SMOGON TOURNAMENT. The format of this tournament will be the format chosen as the Randbats Spotlight. The length of this tournament will be 2 months, which will determine the pace of the tournament. The prize of the tournament will be 1 month of RPW (Room Prize Winner) and the possibility to pick a format for the next Randbats Spotlight poll!
How do I sign up?
Please do not sign up in this thread, a new thread will be open for the tournament itself.
Rules and additional details:
- When selecting a format to vote on as the winner, you will have a wide array of options, from modded variants of ladders that already exist, to formats that are challenge-only, to formats that don't exist at all! However, these are subject to coding limitations, and formats that have recently been a bimonthly spotlight cannot be voted on again for several months.
- This thread is open for discussion. Stay cordial, follow all site rules.
- Only votes in the poll above will count. Please do not type your vote out in a reply.
