Edit: Is my team that bad that no one will help? :/
I've been playing for quite some time, but up until recently haven't gotten to know the competitive aspect of the game. I don't have any favorite pokes or general team ideas so I just rolled dice to pick my six guys. I figure that even though there is no centralization based off choosing one or two and then building from there I did try and mold the move sets and EV's so that the team would be somewhat reliable. Oh and this is a Wi-fi team. So without further ado...
Ariados @ Focus Sash
Ability: Insomnia
EVs: 253 Atk/5 Def/252 Spe
Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
- Agility
- Bug Bite
- Sucker Punch
- Poison Jab
Ariados is easily the weakest link on the team. The only real treat it has is taking out a Psychic with Bug Bite. If it's not juiced in Def. The Focus Sash allows for her to take one hit, and with some excellent prediction Sucker Punch could nab a kill as well. I know she's really dead weight but I figure if I can take out one for one then it's a win. I wouldn't have kept Bold nature but her 31 Def IV kinda made me decide to keep it.
Lanturn @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EV's: 192 SAtk/252 SDef/72 Spe
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
- Confuse Ray
- Discharge
- Surf
- Blizzard
My special wall. The set is pretty simple, I picked discharge over Tbolt because I like the 30% chance of paralysis. I took blizzard because he's got a terrible IV for SAtk (2) so without the STAB ice beam would be pretty weak anyways. I'm not to worried about the occasional miss. Since it is my wall I'm not broken up about it being weakling for attacks. I basically will confuse whatever I come in on, then Discharge and see if I can't para what ever is brought in.
Nidoking @ Choice Band
Ability: Poison Point
EV's: 252 Atk/190 SAtk/72 Spe
Nature: Lonely (+Atk, -Def)
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab
- Megahorn
- Stone Edge/SAtk?
Obviously he is my Atk sweeper. I originally was going to make him a MixKing, but as my team grew I realized that I had more than enough SAtk support and I really needed a strong attacker. I'm still on the fence about giving him Stone Edge though. I don't think I need it, and with a 31 IV in SAtk along with the EV's I think I should throw in a Special just to mix it up? If I do that I'd probably switch to Choice Scarf though. His HP is bug type so that's out of the question with a much more powerful Megahorn attack available to him. This is one of the areas I am stuck on.
Tangrowth @ Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
EV's: 252 HP/252 Def/6 Spe
Nature: Quiet (+SAtk, - Spe)
- Power Whip
- Sleep Powder
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off/HP Ice
This is the Monjobo set with a twist. She has a huge SAtk so I switched Giga Drain for Leech Seed. Between a 31 IV and quiet nature I really had to. I like Knock off, but she gets HP Ice with 66 power so I am really on the fence about which one to use. Ice is SE on 13 of the pokes on the OU threat list so having it in abundance isn't that bad of an idea to me.
Slowbro @ Leftovers/Lum Berry
Ability: Oblivious
EV's: 160 HP/252 Def/96 SAtk
Nature: Calm (+SDef, - Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Slack Off
- Surf
- Ice Beam
My physical wall. I love this set, just get a CM off and start the fun. Leftovers was recommended but with all the status effects that can wear him down I was considering maybe a Lum berry instead.
Magmortar @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flame Body
EV's: 6 Atk/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Nature: Rash (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Psychic
If I was going to pick any guy from this team that I'd use in a real team he'd be it. The sheer breed was amazing enough considering the small amount of effort I put in. (2/27/31/31/29/2) I really wish that speed was switched with SDef, but you can't win em all right? Back on topic; he's my special sweeper and man does he do a good job of it. I gave him psychic instead of HP because his HP is garbage.
So that's the team, keep in mind that I bred and EV'd before really picking the moves. Something I'll take from this learning experience is to plan before I breed. But I think that it would stand up in a BL/UU game and maybe even put up a decent fight in OU? I dunno I haven't really checked the threat list to figure out how bad the team really is but I know I have a heavy ground weakness so I have a feeling that Chomp rips through the team like a knife through melted butter. I'll let the experts chime in on that one.
