Random team of the day number 1458 RMT :D

Hey guys, so I have been playing Pokemon for a while now but I have never been really into competitive battling until now and even then it's mostly on randoms via the in game interface

Right now I'm currently running around with this, it's been doing relatively well although it has some problems vs mainly Uber extremely hard hitting speedy Pokemon (Garchomp for example).

---------------------------------------------
Shinobi (Zoroark)
601.png

Zoroark(M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Illusion
EVs: 252 Spe / 128 Atk / 128 SpA / 4 HP
Hasty Nature (+Spe, -Def)
- Flamethrower
- Night Daze
- U-Turn
- Sucker Punch

Reason: Mindfucking potential, basically knowing I have a Zoroark the opponent will be constantly expecting it, not knowing it gives me a free turn, possibly even a kill, if the opponent is at an advantage against me then i cna simply U-Turn away giving even more mindfucks.
Nature and EV distribution to make it more viable against either type of walls

---------------------------------------------
Fenrir (Arcanine)
59.png

Arcanine(M) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Spe / 4 HP
Modest Adamant(+Atk, -SpA)
- ExtremeSpeed
- Wild Charge
- Flare Blitz
- Close Combat

Reason: I love this little doggy since the Red/Blue games, also it provides me with a strong priority move and excellent type coverage.
His downside is that half of his moves have recoil and Arcanine isn't that tough himself which is why Sitrus Berry is there to help alleviate that a bit

---------------------------------------------
Espi (Espeon)
196.png

Espeon (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 SpA/ 252 Sp / 4 HP
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Psychic
- Toxic

Reason: Setting up screens so the rest of the team survives longer since except for Eon most of my team is kind of squishy so Espi helps by lengthening their lifespan Psychic for the strong stab move also making her deal some considerable damage and toxic for those dudes I'm simply not damaging at a decent rate

---------------------------------------------
Gungnir (Haxorus)
642.png

Haxorus(F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Spe / 4 HP
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
- Dragon Claw
- Outrage

Reason: The mandatory Dragon type. He looks kinda cool and has pretty good stats so why not? Scarfed he gets very fast and his already huge Attack makes it pretty strong.

---------------------------------------------
Eon (Vaporeon)
134.png

Vaporeon(M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 128 SpD / 128 Def
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Protect
- Ice Beam
- Scald
- Wish

Reason: Eon is my tank plain and simple. He nullifies any water threats I may find, he also hits pretty hard considering his more defensive build also Scalding and Ice Beaming for the amazing status effects and type coverage

---------------------------------------------
Tail (Swellow)
277.png

Swellow(M) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
Jolly Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Facade
- U-Turn
- Brave Bird
- Protect

Reason: Swellow is a good often overlooked Pokemon sure he may not last the longest with this set but he shreds what doesn't resist it to shreds

So as I said I don't have that much experience in competitive battling so I would appreciate some feedback

:D

you need to drop Zoroark. Too frail and lacks power with mixed sets. Id also probably make Haxorus a Hydreigon or a SD/DDance Varient of some sort, or even MoxieMence would be a better revenger

I love Zoroark taking it off the team is not an option
I would however consider making it a fully special attacker if it would make it more viable, as for the Haxorus part I was already considering a dragon dancing Salamence so I'm guessing that would be acceptable?

Oh boy, this is a challenge.
First of all, Swellow is excessively weak in OU and is almost never a good choice. In order to accomplish the same thing (punching holes in teams) better, I suggest replacing swellow with choice band scizor. Choice band scizor is capable of punching holes in the opposing team as well as revenge killing threatening pokemon such as terrakion.

Here is the set:

212.gif

Scizor
Adamant | 244 HP, 252 Atk, 12 Speed | Choice Band | Technician
~U-Turn
~Bullet Punch
~Superpower
~Pursuit / Bug Bite

U-Turn is obligatory STAB, and is great for scouting, especially if team preview is not used. Bullet Punch is for revenge killing purposes as well as hitting stuff hard regardless of speed. Superpower is used for hitting threatening steel types, Heatran and magnezone in particular, on the switch. Pursuit can be used for trapping and killing pokemon such as lati@s and gengar. Bug Bite can be used in place of pursuit for a more powerful STAB that doesn't force you to switch out. Also, both scizor and zoroark are capable of using U-turn, leading to outrageous mind games.

Another problem is that arcanine really isn't doing much for your team. Now that scizor could be present, the priority is kind of redundant, and arcanine just doesn't cut it in OU.

Because of the lingering threat of dragon types and the absence of hazard setters, I suggest replacing arcanine with heatran.
Here is the set:

Heatran
Bold | 252 HP, 156 Def, 100 Sp. Atk | Air Balloon
~Fire Blast / Lava Plume / Flamethrower
~Earth Power
~Hidden Power Ice
~Stealth Rock

This heatran serves as a hazard setter as well as a decent check to the multitude of dragons that roam OU. The HP and defense evs are for bulk. The special attack evs ensure it still hits relatively hard. Air balloon is so that he resists or is immune to every move in a dragon's common arsenal until the air balloon pops. The first slot has a multitude of STAB moves to choose from.
Earth Power is for opposing non air balloon heatrans as well as stuff like tyranitar. HP ice is for dragons so he can actually hit back at them. Stealth rock is for hazards.

I would also recommend MoxieMence over haxorus as a revenge killer. He is faster and can revenge kill more threats.
Here is the set:

Salamence
Moxie | 180 Atk, 72 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed | Choice Scarf | Naive
~Outrage / Dragon Claw
~Earthquake
~Fire Blast
~Dragon Claw / Hydro Pump

This is the classic Moxie Salamence, or MoxieMence. In the first slot, either outrage or dragon claw can be used as your STAB of choice. Earthquake and fire blast take up two more slots for hitting steel types hard. Dragon Claw is in the final slot should outrage be chosen as your STAB. If you want absolutely nothing to do with outrage, hydro pump is an option for hitting air balloon heatran and ground type pokemon super effectively.

These suggestions should help your team very much.
Also, it is clear that you are inexperienced, so I will direct you to the battling 101 forum where you can learn about smogon's many metagames as well as how to play them. A new tutor round for you to partake in should start June 19th. If you can't find it, then here is the link:

http://www.smogon.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=42

Also, there are very many team changes, so here is the final team lineup. If you have any trouble actually getting these pokemon on your game, (You mentioned this was on your DS.) I'm sure a fellow member of smogon would be happy to help. Sadly, I can't, as I haven't been doing much in the way of RNG abusing and stuff.

Ah! Thanks a lot this was the help I was hoping to get.
Scizor will take a while for me to be able to make it like that, will get to work on it ASAP in the meantime I will try to make up a variant of what you suggested to fill out that hole.

As for Heatran I'll have to get one first but he does seem to be a beast.

And finally for Salamence, getting that moxie will be tricky but will get to it when I can.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, if I may trouble you with another question what would you suggest on the other three Pokemon you haven't mentioned? (Zoroark, Vaporeon and Espeon)
