SERP HO (click for pokepaste)

Sup all, irl has been a bitch so have not been playing mons for the past month. Anyways I'm tired of seeing the serp washed up allegations so I had to build a serp team, which uses an unconventional set that drops glare. It's also paired with other unconventional sets like sash pult which people stopped using as well as scale shot dnite (I think Blim made this set). This team breaks teambuilding conventions by not having a knocker, which is fine since this is HO and you have fast-paced games anyways. At this point I have a love-hate relationship with serp since I've used it so fucking much and leaf storm is the worst move of all time, also this mon is kinda mid in gen 9 (at least compared to oras where it's a top 2 mon). Enjoy the team and I hope serp doesn't fall to UU next shift. :eeveehide:

Funnily enough I started with agility tera ground pixie plate enamorus since I thought that was a cool anti-offense pick that also beats fat with taunt and strong moonblasts. Here is the original squad:
:enamorus: :iron moth: :iron valiant: :iron treads: :roaring moon: :greninja:

The team sucked against gren's switch-ins, being ogerpon :wellspring-mask: and primarina. Hence why I added the goat :serperior: which also punishes waters ands grounds that beat lead treads. Serp was actually the hardest mon to pick a set for, I kinda knew I wanted custap but the exact 4 moves/tera changed a lot. I also switched up roaring moon for mixed kyurem which made opposing roaring moon a better MU:
:enamorus: :iron moth: :serperior: :iron treads: :kyurem: :greninja:

The team was really weak to iron moth and also was a bit too frail and could easily lose to random tera, which is a sign of a bad gen 9 team. Thus I had to amplify the cheapness of this team by adding completely fair mons sash pult and dnite, both of which add defensive utility whilst also being great offensively. I also dropped glare for terablast and switched tera ghost (originally to lure dnite) to tera ground:

Onyxia
Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 100 Atk / 156 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Hex
- Dragon Darts
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp

Role: I've been trying to make a good hydro pult team for a while now, and I think this set works really well on this team. Fuck u-turn, we're playing HO. This mon blanket checks most mons with high speed and sash, meaning you can fuck around with your other dudes and still be rewarded because sash pult in the back can always revenge-kill. Also lands wisps on important mons such as glowking or gambit, who both appreciate being chipped for serp. Chips ting-lu too for iron moth.
Set Details: Pump is great neutral and super-effective coverage. Hits garg, ting-lu, heatran, grounds, moth, cinderace, glim, ttar, ursaluna, and also hits gambit for good chip to help gren clean. Hasty just in case this is your moth check, since you have sash for stuff like gambit.
Tera: 2HKOs garg, OHKOs ace/glim and is generally a decent move to spam on some MUs. I don't tera this often tho.
Other Options: Tera fairy or twave.

Shattered Sun
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 120 HP / 4 Def / 132 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fiery Dance
- Sludge Wave
- Energy Ball
- Substitute

Role: Tspike absorber and great defensive utility vs fairies, weavile, fires, and zama.
Set Details: Energy ball might seem redundant with serp, but it allows you to troll garg even harder without having to tera, as well as hitting samu-h, grounds, tera water glowking (which might happen if they don't have a good gren check), as well as niche mons like mamo which otherwise annoy serp/pult/dnite.
Tera: Allows you to beat glim, garg, and resist ground.
Other Options: Any set probably works, you can even drop sub in favour of tera fairy gleam or even tspike.
:serperior: @ :custap-berry:
Mistlestorm
Ability: Contrary
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leaf Storm
- Dragon Pulse
- Tera Blast
- Endure

Role: Everyone hates this mon because of glare sub cheese. Yes, glare is the best and most skilled move of all time but this team drops cheap move glare to use a swaggier build in endure custap. This fits the tempo of HO better since you can go for more 2-for-1s and also you won't get cockblocked by glowking. This mon has very good synergy with gren since gren can force glowking to tera water, and also serp checks gren's checks 1-2 times per game which is enough for HO. Also pairs up well with treads for the same reasons.
Set Details: Endure serp softchecks a lot of faster mons or at the very least forces them to burn booster. Tera ground is crucial so that you don't get shamoned by sub moth and also so that glowking doesn't piss all over this team. Dpulse for kyurem/dnite which both check gren.
Tera: Also allows you to block raging bolt at 1 HP.
Other Options: I highly recommend keeping this set, since it brings out the most value out of serp even in bad MUs.

Handheld Tank
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Spinner
- Rapid Spin

Role: Lead, checks bolt.
Set Details: Physical for bolt and spins vs. blissey. Ice spinner chips gliscor and lando into serp/pult range.
Tera: Spinblocks.
Other Options: Any set probably works.
:dragonite: @ :loaded-dice:
Dragon Pow
Ability: Multiscale
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Scale Shot
- Fire Punch
- Encore

Role: Fat physical attacker, ground immune. Checks gambit with encore.
Set Details: Not 100% sure on this one but I think Blim made this set, anyways this set is awesome with treads spin support. Really good into variants of zama and also overloads vs primarina which is also needed to check gren.
Tera: Burn immune, fairy resist, stronger fire punch.
Other Options: I think this is the best dnite set vs fat, and this team isn't great into fat otherwise so don't change the set unless you do something like taunt serp/gren.
:greninja: @ :life-orb:
Cosmic Kunai
Ability: Battle Bond
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Surf
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Water Shuriken

Role: I didn't actually build around gren, I just put it on the team since It looked like a great fit. Good lead if treads is not a good option. Offensively pairs up great with other mons since its checks like prim and gambit are needed for the other dudes. Serp also can also force lead samu down to its sash which is great for gren. Even if you don't get off the sweep it forces chip on mons since they might have to switch to prevent the battle bond. Has priority utility and forces tera water on mons, which serp abuses or eball moth abuses. I wish shiny battle bond gren was legal.
Set Details: STABs, ice coverage for dragons and priority.
Tera: Good into dnite and zama.
Other Options: Tera water, dark, or taunt.
No 1 mon is a bad MU per say, but if you run into a squad that has several annoying mons it is a bad MU. Those being: :garganacl: :skeledirge: :moltres: :goodra-hisui: :azumarill: :iron moth: :blissey:. Out of these, this team struggles most with :azumarill: offensively and :garganacl: defensively. Also stall probably beats this coz it's HO, which isn't that bad on ladder since you can just take the L and win the next few games vs offense. TR is also usually a bad MU.

There are also specific sets that have a great MU vs this team, those being:
