[OVERVIEW]

Despite the infamous reputation of Fire-types in RBY, Rapidash cements a niche as one of the best leads in the RBY NU metagame. It separates itself from other Fire Spin leads with its excellent Speed which gives it a menacing 20.5% critical hit rate and lets it use Toxic to check other partial trapping leads. Fire Spin also makes it work with other partial trapping users such as Moltres, Ninetales, and Charizard. Rapidash can land 2HKOs with a critical hit Fire Blast on notable threats such as Mr. Mime and Clefable. It can use chip damage done with Fire Spin in tandem with Fire Blast and Hyper Beam to become a cleaner. Rapidash is also one of the best pivots in the tier, with access to Fire Spin allowing it to safely pivot out of poor lead matchups into a safer check. For example, if Rapidash faces a Poliwhirl lead, it can pivot out into a teammate like Electrode or Clefable to take care of Poliwhirl for it.

Despite these upsides, Rapidash's typing hinders it greatly, as it is forced out by the Water-types of the tier, such as Blastoise, Kabutops, and Poliwhirl. Its movepool is limited to Fire- and Normal-type attacks, meaning that it struggles to threaten the likes of Golem and said Water-types. Rapidash is also very susceptible to chip damage and greatly dislikes paralysis. Nonetheless, Rapidash is a solid Pokemon in the tier.

[SET]
name: Fire Spin Pivot
move 1: Fire Spin
move 2: Fire Blast
move 3: Toxic
move 4: Hyper Beam / Body Slam

[SET COMMENTS]

Fire Spin is Rapidash’s main asset, wearing down foes and giving it a great opportunity to pivot around poor matchups in the opening. Rapidash is one of the fastest Pokemon in the tier, and it can take out a worn down opponent with Fire Blast or Hyper Beam. Fire Blast can OHKO Pinsir and Exeggcute, 2HKO Nidoking after a critical hit, and can burn an opponent, which can be useful for forcing a Rest from the likes of Blastoise or crippling physical attackers like Kingler and Golem. Toxic can cripple other Fire Spin or Wrap users such as Moltres, Dragonair, and Ninetales, as it outdamages a foe's Fire Spin or Wrap. Toxic, in tandem with Fire Spin from either Rapidash or a teammate, can create a deadly combination that drains the HP of foes quickly while forcing Rest from counters such as Dewgong and Blastoise. Hyper Beam can finish off worn down checks such as Blastoise and Charizard. Body Slam is a good option over Hyper Beam, as it allows Rapidash to spread paralysis to switch-ins such as Blastoise, Kabutops, and Dewgong.

Rapidash’s limited movepool means that there is not much room for variation. Agility is a decent option, as it lets Rapidash outspeed the entire tier and can also alleviate paralysis from foes such as Mr. Mime, Clefable, and Electrode. It also allows Rapidash to have an uncontested Fire Spin, which further enhances its ability to clean late game. However, it is hard for Rapidash to set up against a majority of the tier, and it faces competition from Moltres in this role. Stomp can be used alongside Body Slam for a solid combo of paralysis and flinch. Rapidash likes to have counterplay to Water- and Rock- types like Blastoise and Golem, which can easily stonewall it, making Pokemon like Blastoise, Electrode, and Mr. Mime solid teammates.

[OVERVIEW]

Despite the infamous reputation of Fire-types in RBY, Rapidash is able to cement a niche as one of the best leads in the metagame. It separates itself from other Fire Spin leads with access to Agility, as well as being able to use Toxic efficiently to check other APT leads. Its Speed gives it a 20.5% critical hit rate, which can be boosted further by the use of Agility, allowing it to use Fire Spin to threaten teams who are not equipped to deal with it. Rapidash is also able to land 2HKOs with a critical hit Fire Blast on notable threats such as Mr. Mime and Clefable.

There are two glaring errors here;
  • APT isn't an accepted abbreviation under GP. Speed-boosted partial trapping, however, is. Alternatively, you can say AgiliWrap or AgiliSpin.
  • Speed boosting does not increase your critical hit ratio, it's purely there to eliminate the Speed drop from paralysis while enabling AgiliSpin.
Despite these great upsides, Rapidash is not without its flaws. Its typing hinders it greatly, as it means it is forced out by the Water-types of the tier, such as Blastoise, Kabutops, and Poliwhirl. It also faces competition with Ninetales as a Fire Spin + Toxic lead, as Ninetales packs higher Special Attack, as well as access to Confuse Ray to annoy other APT users. (Rapidash generally outclasses Ninetales in this role imo, the Speed really helps. Not sure if others would agree though, it's certainly a hot take. Toxic >>> CRay) Its movepool is limited to Fire- and Normal-type attacks, meaning that it struggles with the likes of Golem, Seadra, and Blastoise. Nonetheless, Rapidash is considered to be one of the greatest leads and an overall solid Pokemon in the tier of RBY NU.

Mention that even with Agility, paralysis is far from ideal. Setting up Agility to get your Speed back is easier said than done when FPs and aggressive switch-ins can scare it out.

[SET]
name: AgiliSpin
move 1: Fire Spin
move 2: Fire Blast
move 3: Agility / Body Slam
move 4: Toxic

[SET COMMENTS]

Fire Spin is Rapidash’s main asset, as it allows Rapidash to wear down opposing team members. (Far from the only benefit. Fire Spin lets Rapidash pivot into whatever teammate is better in the opening, as well as fish for the opponent's switch habits. The inherent benefits of partial trapping is immense, by all means elaborate on this for the reader. It's just like Lead Tentacruel in UU, just boneless.) Rapidash is one of the fastest Pokemon in the tier, and as such thanks to this, ("as such" is generally negative) allows Rapidash to take out a worn down opponent with Fire Blast. It also allows Rapidash to pivot out of Pokemon that can threaten it, mainly Poliwhirl. (coherency clashes with the Fire Blast mention prior, move this to before that sentence. You can use the prior sentence to work into the Fire Blast review for better flow) Fire Blast is able to OHKO Pinsir and Exeggcute, (RC) and can 2HKO Nidoking after a critical hit, as well as being able to burn an opponent, which can be useful for forcing a Rest on the likes of Drowzee or crippling physical attackers like Kingler. After an Agility, Rapidash is able to outspeed the entire tier, and can also deter paralysis from foes such as Mr. Mime, Clefable, and Electrode. It also allows Rapidash to have an uncontested Fire Spin. (elaborate, this is very important) Body Slam is a good option over Agility if AgiliSpin's inconsistency isn't desirable, as it allows Rapidash to paralyze switch-ins (AH) such as Blastoise and Kabutops. However, it comes with the sacrifice of being unable to ignore opposing paralysis. (Not a big consequence, getting to do this is surprisingly rare) Toxic is able to cripple other Fire Spin or Wrap users such as Moltres, Dragonair, and Ninetales, with Toxic being able to outdamaging an opponent’s Fire Spin or and Wrap.

Rapidash’s limited movepool means that there is not much room for variation. Hyper Beam can be slotted in over Body Slam or Agility to deal more damage to Pokemon that otherwise deal with Rapidash such as Blastoise and Charizard. However, it means sacrificing paralysis on switch ins, or losing out on deterring paralysis. Rapidash likes to have counterplay to Water-types that resist its Fire-type STAB, so Pokemon like Electrode and Mr. Mime are solid teammates.

Stomp is a pretty hype OO for paraflinching. Toxic is very droppable as well, you can absolutely use BSlam + HB or BSlam + Stomp. Rework this paragraph.

Hey! I'm here to QC Rapidash!

For example, if Rapidash faces a Poliwhirl lead, it can pivot into things like Exeggcute and Clefable to take care of Poliwhirl for it.

Exeggcute isnt really a good example here, as it is being out sped by Hypnosis, and then being setup fodder for Poliwhirl. Clefable at least can threaten it moreso with consistent paralysis on a Hypnosis miss so its fine to leave it for the sake of more listings. If it were me id list Electrode over Exeggcute, since it outspeeds and either threatens a Crit Thunderbolt or a Thunder depending on the set.

Toxic is able to cripple other Fire Spin or Wrap users such as Moltres, Dragonair, and Ninetales, with Toxic being able to outdamage an opponent’s Fire Spin or Wrap. Toxic in tandem with Fire Spin can create a deadly combo that can drain the HP of opponents quickly, as well as forcing Rest from counters such as Dewgong and Blastoise.

This is good, but I think we can expand on this a bit more, as this is a place where we could fit in how Rapidash's Fire Spin works in tandem with OTHER mons (Moltres, Ninetales, and Charizard)'s Toxic and Fire Spin strategy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other than that, I don't have much. Good work. Message me on Discord when this is implemented and i'll likely edit in the QC.

If it were me id list Electrode over Exeggcute, since it outspeeds and either threatens a Crit Thunderbolt or a Thunder depending on the set.

This is good, but I think we can expand on this a bit more, as this is a place where we could fit in how Rapidash's Fire Spin works in tandem with OTHER mons (Moltres, Ninetales, and Charizard)'s Toxic and Fire Spin strategy.

Other than that, I don't have much. Good work. Message me on Discord when this is implemented and i'll likely edit in the QC.

Implemented, thanks!

This is now GP

[OVERVIEW]

Despite the infamous reputation of Fire-types in RBY, Rapidash can cements a niche as one of the best leads in the RBY NU metagame. It separates itself from other Fire Spin leads with its excellent Speed, (AC) in tandem with being able to which gives it a menacing 20.5% critical hit rate and lets it use Toxic to check other partial trapping leads. This Fire Spin (or did you mean something else? pls specify if so) also makes it work with other partial trapping users such as Moltres, Ninetales, and Charizard. Its blazing Speed tier gives it a 20.5% critical hit rate, allowing it to use Fire Spin to threaten teams who aren't equipped to deal with it. Rapidash can land 2HKOs with a critical hit Fire Blast on notable threats such as Mr. Mime and Clefable. It can use chip damage done with Fire Spin in tandem with Fire Blast and Hyper Beam to become a cleaner. Rapidash is also one of the best pivots in the tier, mainly due to its access to with Fire Spin allowing it to safely pivot out of faulty poor lead matchups into a safer check. For example, if Rapidash faces a Poliwhirl lead, it can pivot out into things a teammate like Electrode and or Clefable to take care of Poliwhirl for it.

Despite these upsides, Rapidash is not without its flaws. Its Rapidash's typing hinders it greatly, as it is forced out by the Water-types of the tier, such as Blastoise, Kabutops, and Poliwhirl. Its movepool is limited to Fire- and Normal-type attacks, meaning that it struggles with the likes of Golem, Seadra, and Blastoise. to threaten the likes of Golem and said Water-types. Rapidash is also very susceptible to chip damage and greatly dislikes paralysis as a whole. Nonetheless, Rapidash is considered as one of the best leads and an overall solid Pokemon in the tier of RBY NU. paralysis. Nonetheless, it is a solid Pokemon in the tier.

[SET COMMENTS]

Fire Spin is Rapidash’s main asset, as it allows Rapidash to wear down opposing team members, as well as giving Rapidash a great opportunity to pivot around its checks into a Pokemon that performs better wearing down foes and giving it a great opportunity to pivot around poor matchups in the opening. Rapidash is one of the fastest Pokemon in the tier, and thanks to this, allows Rapidash to it can take out a worn down opponent foe with Fire Blast or Hyper Beam. Fire Blast can OHKO Pinsir and Exeggcute, (AC) and can 2HKO Nidoking after a critical hit, and can burn an opponent, burn foes, which can be useful for forcing a Rest on from the likes of Blastoise or crippling physical attackers like Kingler and Golem. Toxic can cripple other Fire Spin or Wrap users such as Moltres, Dragonair, and Ninetales, with Toxic out damaging an opponent’s as it outdamages a foe's Fire Spin or Wrap. Toxic, in tandem with Fire Spin from either Rapidash or another Fire Spin user, a teammate, can create a deadly combo that can drain the HP of opponents quickly combination that drains the HP of foes quickly while forcing Rest from counters such as Dewgong and Blastoise. Hyper Beam can finish off worn down (removed hyphen) checks such as Blastoise and Charizard. Body Slam is a good option over Hyper Beam, as it allows Rapidash to spread paralysis to switch-ins such as Blastoise, Kabutops, and Dewgong. (moved hbeam and bslam stuff to bottom to reflect moveslot order)

Rapidash’s limited movepool means that there is not much room for variation. Agility is a decent option, as, after an Agility, Rapidash can as it lets Rapidash outspeed the entire tier and can also deter (this may be what you meant, but you also may have meant "alleviate" - make less worse, so i'll put that just in case) paralysis from foes such as Mr. Mime, Clefable, and Electrode. It also allows Rapidash to have an uncontested Fire Spin, which further enhances its ability to clean late-game. (added hyphen) However, it is hard for Rapidash to set up against a majority of the tier, and it faces competition from Moltres in this role. Stomp can be used alongside Body Slam for a solid combo of paralysis and flinch. Rapidash likes to have counterplay to Water- and Rock- types that resist its Fire-type STAB, as Pokemon such as Blastoise and Golem can easily stone wall Rapidash. Because of this, like Blastoise and Golem, which can easily stonewall it, making Pokemon like Blastoise, Electrode, and Mr. Mime solid teammates.
