Heavy Rain Based Team: (2v2 casual gaming)
Before anything, keep in mind that this team is purely hypothetical and haven't been tested, and that it is intended for double battles casual gaming, though you could also tell me how good it would do in competitions. I've only recently discovered how freakin' complicated Pokemon can be what with all the EVs and IVs and Stat and Damage Formulas and all that metagaming. Oh, and that I'm a total noob that's new to all this.

THIS IS HOW I SEE THIS TEAM PLAYING OUT:
Kyogre comes out with a Drizzle, maybe Calm Minding for boosts (though
I really wished for Agility or something of the like, just like the
Groudon's Rock Polish in my Intense Sunlight team counterpart, since
its speed is horrible compared to other sweepers), and Manaphy
Pseudo-Passing with her double Screens.
Kyogre, with defenses boosted and one SpA boost, may attack with one of
its three damaging moves, one of them being Thunder that can rape (take
advantage of) the rain and another being a water type that gets STAB
and rain boost. Anything not killed by Kyogre may be finished off with
a tripple-boosted Brine (STAB, rain and -50% hp) or a rain boosted,
STABed Surf. Manaphy better be a little bit slower than Kyogre though
if I want that Brine bonus damage.
As you can see, Kyogre is carrying a Lum Berry. This is to prevent its
sweeping momentum from being broken or cut short. Manaphy holds either
Focus Band or Light Clay. Focus Band can be used in case the opponent
focuses on her rather than taking down Kyogre. Once Manaphy's hp is
down to 1, she can use Rest, then, raping the rain and her ability
Hydration, wakes back up. (Standard HydroRest combo) This can be done a
number of times until Kyogre somehow dies and Manaphy's Brine is no
longer needed or a switch is called for.
When Kyogre leaves the battlefield for some reason, through fainting or
switching, there will be only three turns left of rain. Depending on
the status of the opposing pokemon, I could send out Castform holding a
Damp Rock so I can easily set up a Rain Dance 2-3 turns later, attack
with a double boosted Weather Ball (which could be replaced with Water
Pulse just because of the fact that I only have 2 rain inducing pokemon
and that it has a chance to confuse), what with the rain pumping it up
to 100 base power and the 50% boost from the rain or annoy with one of
its status moves. A Blissey with Seismic Toss can be paralyzed so it
can't move a quarter of the time and I'd have an easier time killing it
and burn Tanks that could be somewhat hindering if it turns into a
stall war. Confusing is good too. (PS, does Thunder Wave activate Volt
Absorb and Motor Drive? 'Cause I'd hate to have to use the low PP
Thunder to activate those.)
Another viable option is to revenge kill the pokemon that killed
Kyogre, or simply finish it off if Kyogre had to merely switch. I have
three different pokemon for that: Gyarados, Toxicroak, and Rhyperior.
Admittedly, if Kyogre had to switch out because of the threat of an
electric type, Gyarados would be a poor choice to be its replacement.
However, if it was a grass type that killed/force switched Kyogre, and
Kyogre didn't have a chance to let out an Ice Beam, Gyarados would be a
great replacement. Intimidate is really just a bonus. Dragon Dance is
kind of Gyarados' signature move anyway, so that's there for obvious
reasons. It can be traded for Swords Dance instead, but I don't think
Gyarados can learn it...I think. He carries a Persim Berry for that bad
Post-Outrage Confusion Syndrome (I like to call it POCS. lol.), but
maybe Lum just in case he gets burned or paralyzed. But then when that
happens I have no more berries for that POCS. Sitrus or Enigma Berry works too in case I get caught off guard and get hit by an electric attack.
Toxicroak is really more of a Tank than a Sweeper, but he could do the
job well, I think. Black Sludge is a viable, or maybe even better,
replacement for Leftovers, and if I could I'd even Trick it to induce
poison on the other guy then get it back. He also rapes the rain by
having Dry Skin as its ability, thus making it kind of a Tank. He could
take most hits and that's not of the Psychic type and still live
through it by healing about a quarter of his max hp every turn. Swords
Danced Poison Jab is pretty lethal, if you ask me, what with the STAB
going along with it. He's also one of my anti-grass pokemon.
I really didn't know whether or not to go with Revenge or Brick Break.
On one hand, he get double damage when Toxicroak gets hit first, which
surpasses the base damage of Brick Break. On the other hand, I have the
ability to break Screens...
Baton Pass is to pass on any Swords Dance I managed to pull off along
the way to the next Sweeper in line to save precious turns. If
Toxicroak is nearing his demise, he could just Pass those boosts along
and maybe even come back later to be healed and get another chance at
sweeping. Though maybe I should switch one of his moves with Rain Dance
just in case...
Also, if I decide to get Surf on my water types, I'd be able to without
fear of harming its partner if that partner is Toxicroak. I could boost
up with Swords Dance one turn, get damaged, then get healed again
thanks to Dry Skin, plus Black Sludge and rain heal on top of that. Not
only that, but Surf damages both opponents. Now that's what I call
raping an ability. It's like Muddy Water except with the healing.
Lastly, there's Rhyperior. Mainly, it rapes Lightningrod to counter
those electric types out to get Gyarados, Manaphy, Kyogre and Castform.
When partnered with Gyarados, I could lure out those electric types.
When they come out and find that Rhyperior has Lightningrod and not its
other ability, which I've heard is more popular I can easily kill
off those electric types with Earthquake, not fearing any harm coming to
Gyarados since he's part flying. Megahorn covers grass and fighting
types and Stone Edge for general coverage and STAB, though I'm thinking
of changing it to something else, like Thunder to rape the rain.
Since I can see Rhyperior doing a lot of damage, I decided to put Shell
Bell on it, but Leftovers would be pretty good too. It recovers less hp, but it's a sure thing every turn.
====================================================
For the extra pokemon, I was thinking of doing this little thing I came
up with after thinking about the Dry Skin strategy with Toxicroak:
Lanturn has Volt Absorb, and since I have ThunderDancers on my team, it
could be a good way to heal up. It is also resistant to many other
types, not just electric. The only weakness I see is Earthquake from a
non-Ground or Rock type pokemon. Also, if another pokemon gets
Discharge, possibly Castform or Rhyperior, it could be the same effect
as the Dry Skin-Surf combo. Ice/Signal Beam are grass coverage among
other things. Ice Beam has more coverage and a small freeze chance but
Signal Beam has a more likely confusion chance. A water attack is there
for STAB, and the Charge/Discharge combo. I couldn't help it. Discharge
is an awesome attack and they just sound so good together. I could
replace it with Thunder. I don't know if Wise Glasses is a wise
decision though.
Electivire could be the ultimate sweeper, hypothetically. I thought of
Toxicroak passing some Swords Dances to him and, when partnered up with
a ThunderDancer, gets a nice speed boost from Motor Drive. Electivire
could start sweeping right off the bat without having to pause for any
boosts. Coupled with the fact that Earthquake or Earth Power is really
my only weakness here, I think I have a pretty solid and mostly
uncounterable Physical Sweeper.
ThunderPunch and Earthquake are set in stone, unless anyone finds
anything wrong with them. The other candidates would be the remaining
Elemental Punches and Brick Break, and maybe Swords Dance in case
Toxicroak can't pass.
He's carriyng either Shell Bell since I can see him doing lots of
damage, or Life Orb just to up the damage done and I can't see much
pokemon getting in a hit after that Motor Drive speed boost.
Quagsire is probably best as a Tank with EVs in defenses or Attack. He's there because of the likeness to the Dry Skin-Surf Combo, except this time it's Water Absorb-Surf.
Curse is just because it doesn't have Bulk Up, and with its low base
speed it really doesn't matter anyway. Rain Dance could also be
plastered somewhere there in case Castform and Kyogre die. Muddy Water
for STAB and rain boost. Earthquake is for coverage and STAB. The last
slot could be either Ice Punch for grass coverage, Stone Edge for
general coverage, or Thunder to rape the rain. Same dilemma with
Rhyperior.
Zoom Lens was just because I couldn't think of anything else. He's slow
anyway, the other guy will probably be able to land a hit first, giving
Quagsire the accuracy bonus in case I choose to get Stone Edge.
So which of those three, if any, do you think I should add to the above
team? Or should I consider other pokemon that aren't even mentioned
here?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Really sorry if that was way too long. Yeah, I just skimmed through it
and saw that I typed a lot there. But thanks though if you took the
time to read all that. I still have the Intense Sunlight team, but I'll
post that up some other time. Or soon if you convince me enough. lol.
Thanks!
