This is my first RMT and first post on the Smogon forums in which I really really tried paying as much attention to formatting and other posts as I could. Any feedback is welcomed and appreciated!
Team at a Glance:
Deoxys-D: Hazard Setting Wall
Mega Charizard-X: Bulky Dragon Dance Sweeper
Azumaril: Belly Drum WallBreaker
Aegislash: Bulky Mixed Tank
Garchomp: Life Orb Swords Dance Sweeper
Alakazam: Revenge Killing Sweeper
Deoxys-Defense @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 128 SDef
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Toxic
- Recover
Ah, Deoxys-D. The classic starting, hazard setting wall. This guy is the lead for EVERY one of my battles. I throw this guy out first then look at the other team. If it has a lot of pokemon weak to SR then i throw those out first, if it has very few weak to it, then I throw out spikes. If I know they are going to do some odd switch by using trick to give me a scarf, then ill do spikes so I can keep throwing them out.
If I see that they have a spinner or defogger, i usually throw a SR then switch to something so I can be sure to keep Deoxys-D alive until its gone. then really set out some hazards.
I'm very happy with this lead, but its main flaws are its extreme weakness to knock off, and aegislash. Also, a few pokemon can really use this against me and send out something with dragon dance or swords dance first then set up and occasionally wipe my team. Lately, I've been trying to avoid this by immediately switching to a counter for it before it can set up too much.
Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 248 HP / 152 Atk / 108 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
There's not too much interesting about this guy, its really just the standard Bulky Dragon Dancing Charizard. Its ev spread allows it to outspeed a TON while also being able to take quite a hit. However, if anyone pulls out an Azumarill or Heatran, this guy needs to get out ASAP, those are the only two pokemon that resist both of its attacks. Even if I get out a dragon dance or two, those can certainly reek havoc. It certainly hurts to pull out after having such stat boosts, but sometimes, i don't have much of a choice.
Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 92 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Play Roughi
- Superpower
This adorable little water rabbit, is certainly a force to be reckoned with. My goodness, if tithis thing gets out a belly drum and is not too badly damaged, it can certainly lead to the end of the game. STAB priority aqua jet + crazy attack of 218 at lvl100, DOUBLED by Huge Power, then multiplied by four by Huge Power is... Insane. That craziness allows it to function as a priority attacking wall breaker which can usually end games.
Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 244 HP / 12 Def / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature
- Shadow Ball
- King's Shield
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword
Honestly, Aegislash is probably the weakest member of the team. "But what, how can an S-Ranked pokemon using its best set not do well?!" Well, the constant threats of earthquake, other aegis, talonflames, charizards, and all those can WRECK this. Almost always OHKOs by the main threats. Only real benefit of having this on my team is the stalling with King's Shield and occasional stat reduction from this, the coverage of the fighting and ghost moves and the physical and special mix is helpful. I've been considering Scizor due to its coverage and defogging power as a replacement, but am hesitant.
Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Tail
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
LO Garchomp is so helpful when taking out major threats to my team. I used to have some major weaknesses to the zards, talonflame, and other dragons, but once i introduced this guy, it did WORK. Dragon Tail can lead to some hilarious cycling of pokemon going through spikes and SR over and over again while also doing some STAB damage; Earthquake STAB can break lots of walls such as ferrothorn and heatran while also taking out lots of more common slower sweepers or tanks; Stone Edge takes out the zards and talonflame in a pinch; and Swords Dance isnt used to often because of how frail it is and how it cant take much of a hit, BUT in the chance that i do get one out, this thing can certainly wreck entire teams.
Alakazam @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
This Alakazam is the textbook revenge killer. Its broad, fantastic move pool, high sp atk, high speed, and magic guard-sash combo allows me to clean up the ends of teams easily. My team can suffer a lot from pokemon that are only weak to grass and maybe something else, so this can kill it easily. This can also counter aegislash well, because it can take a shadow sneak with its sash, then deal out damage with its shadow ball. However, if the team has 2 very fast pokemon, or 2 priority attackers, or a bulky priority attacker, they can end this guy before it even gets started. Alakazam's moveset allows it to complement my team very well, because its the only one on my team with psychic, grass, or fairy moves so it can revenge kill threats like that perfectly.
MAJOR TEAM THREATS:
Electric Types with Ice Moves
Bisharp with Knockoff
Physical Walls
Fairies
SweeperCalc Break My Team Link: bit.do/UberloxBMT
SweeperCalc Wall My Team Link: bit.do/UberloxWMT
CONCERNS:
No Electric, Ice, Poison, Flying, Bug or Steel Moves
Very predictable sets, not much uniqueness.
Full Baton Pass Chains
Only 2 pokemon with special attacking moves
No Rapid Spinners or Defoggers
3 Pokemon Weak to Dark Moves (Deoxys-D, Aegislash, Alakazam)
Thank you all very much for reading, this team has done wonders for me, raising to my rank from around 1200 to my my highest yet of 1425! I really love this team, but some of the threats and concerns are too much to bear. Thank you all for your help!
