This team is made about 2 months ago. My highest score in the Battle Tower single battle tournament sits at 46. I could never get through the middle line. Now I've just beaten my 28th opponent and decided to ask for Smogon's counsel before taking on the next 7 trainers. Because I always happen to lose when I pass through that number! Anyway...
Sorry for the walls of text(How do you post pics of Pokemon?!)
Sceptile @ Leftovers
SpAtk 200/ Spd 244/ Def 56
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power ICE (BP 70)
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
My sub-seeding. This guy is possibly the most useful poke in my team. Sub-seeding work against most Pokemon. Its HP Ice is great against grass and the dragons, it can sometimes OHKO Garchomp and Salamence (not Dragonite however), but they usually survive at the red zone. Will it be a good idea to invest all EVs on SpAtk?
Tyranitar @ Chople Berry
Atk 252/ Spd 180/ HP 76
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Earthquake
The DD-tar set I stole from Smogon (I think). I used Chople Berry originally because I couldn't think of a good item, but it turns out to be rather helpful to the monster. Dragon Dance is only used occasionally, I usually just pick an attack as there's seem to be no time to set up. He did well in battle, but I'm think of replacing him (can't think of anything yet though). His Sandstream ability can sometimes cause more harm than good.
Metagross @ Lum Berry
HP 152/ Atk 252/ Spd 104
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Explosion
- Bullet Punch
This machine is pretty helpful. Basically just hit hard and finish things off with Bullet Punch. Explode when in danger or when fighting the last Pokemon. I wish I can get Thunder Punch though. Lum Berry is helpful at times, but maybe there are better hold items?
Threat List
Gyarados - Possibly the most intimidating thing to my team! With no electric moves, good overall stats, this worm can break Sceptile's subs with ease and none of Metagross' moves are good against him (again wishing I have Thunder Punch). T-Tar might Stone-Edge it but risk getting Aqua Tailed. I usually have to explode to get rid of him.
The Dragons - Salamence and Garchomp especially. These monsters always come out when my Sceptile is not out. But if he is, I usually have to
HP it, wait for it to KO me, then switch to Metagross and Bullet Punch to revenge kill. Garchomp is even deadlier when Sandstream's activated.
Shedinja - Haven't even seen one yet but I just realised Tyranitar is the only one able to hit him. Does Wonder Guard block sandstorm or Leech Seed? If not I guess I don't have to worry too much.
Other than those fire and bug types are sometimes dangerous but I always find a way around those.
Things that killed me before:
Garchomp - Sandstream was activated and outcomes this thing! My T-Tar was the only one alive so I was pretty much doomed anyway.
Staraptor - Close Combat + critical hit my T-Tar...(I think he would've survived if not for Critical hit) then survive Sceptile's HP Ice with Focus Band...
Flygon - Why do those ground dragons always stalk me?! Anyway Silver Winded my T-Tar and got stat boost, then swept.
DS - Dropped my DS accidently and the game fell out...this is the most humuliating defeat ever!!! Although I felt kind of relieved that save file was not deleted, which happened before in Silver. >_>
Hope you enjoy reading! Though I suddenly realise you might not be able to think of any improvements at all. Maybe help me think of a good replacement for T-Tar? By the way, anyone actually manages to beat the tower without a hacked team?
