Well, let me first explain that I am not new to Pokemon, but I'm rough around the edges with legitimate competing. I built my team off of the idea of two complementary trios, Fire/Water/Grass and Psychic/Poison/Dragon, then formed it into what it is. Here's my team with brief descriptions:
Arcanine ♂ Fire Intimidate Naive Shell Bell
Wild Charge, Flare Blitz, Extreme Speed, Close Combat
I plan on using him as my lead with high Speed and Attack EV's. He's a Physical Sweeper, and will often have priority in a battle. His moveset allows him to counter Water-type and Rock-type Pokemon and the Shell Bell allows healing after every turn.
Lapras ♀ Water/Ice Water Absorb Modest Leftovers
Protect, Surf, Blizzard, Psychic
With her extremely high health, she can definitely take a hit, and her moveset counters Grass-type, Rock-type, and Fighting-type Pokemon. Because of her Leftovers, if Protect is used, it is essentially a healing turn relief. I'd like high EV's in Special Attack.
Cradily ♂ Grass/Rock Suction Cups Relaxed Shed Shell
Ingrain, Energy Ball, Stone Edge, Earthquake
This old fellow is basically a wall, a small barrier for the next to come. Its ability allows me to dig in if the situation is in my favor and use Ingrain. If it turns sour and I am Ingraining, I can still switch because of the Shed Skin. I'd like to bulk up both Defenses in EV yield.
Nidoking ♂ Poison/Ground Sheer Force Modest Life Orb
Thunder Bolt, Sludge Wave, Earth Power, Ice Beam
This one might be my favorite; it's been my favorite Pokemon in general since Generation III. Imagine: Sheer Force allows all his moves I have for him be 30% more powerful, and Life Orb allows another 30% boost with no recoil. So, Thunder Bolt does 152 damage instead of 90, Sludge Wave does 240 damage instead of 95 because of STAB, Earth Power does 227 damage instead of 90 because of STAB, and Ice Beam does 152 damage instead of 90. Assuming I did the math right, but regardless, that's sweet!
Meowstic ♀ Psychic Competetive Gentle Assault Vest
Shadow Ball, Psychic, Dark Pulse, Magic Leaf
Her hidden ability plus the Assault Vest has the potential to armor her already-high Special Attack and Special Defense stats to an incredible stage. Now the negative backlash is completely ignored because she has only damage-causing moves. I think she has great potential as a sweeper.
Goodra ♀ Dragon Gooey Timid Big Root
Flamethrower, Dragon Pulse, Sludge Bomb, Aqua Ring
A soft support role, she is capable of taking out Pokemon with her Special Attacking moves, which cover all of her weaknesses. With EV's in Health and Speed, along with Gooey, I think that she could be pretty effective against a variety of things. Also, the Big Root/ Aqua Ring combo allows a pretty effective self-preservation opportunity.
So, that's my team. Of course, all theoretical for now, but I'd like to see other's input on it all! I'm pretty pleased with myself over the formation of the team, but of course, outside views would be great, too!
