Hiya, I'm relatively new to competitive battling, so any criticism is welcome! I have read a decent amount about it, without posting anything (I tried once but it was not in the right forum, so got blocked ;-) Hopefully I'll get it right this time!) So here I'll try again! I'm playing on cartridge (so no pokebank, and with a (probably) smaller level than on sims).
here's my team!
Lead (usually)/ sp wall
Tyranitar, Adamant hard stone/ Tyranitarite
Ability: sand stream
252 EV HP ; 32 EV att; 224 EV sp def
A pretty normal lead here, if not a little original (given abysmal speed)? Given the amounts of Charziards and Talonflames out there right now, getting up SR is a priority for me, as it also breaks sturdy, focus sash etc. Its' sp def can tank a lot of hits, especially in the sandstorm (even super effective) and therefore he doubles as a special wall. Stone edge to hit flying, EQ to hit rock/ ice/ steel/ poison (you know the type tables better than me!) and crunch as a relatively powerful stab to scare away psychics and ghosts (also scares away/deals with magic bounce users like Espeon). He usually takes a decent amount of damage in the first two rounds, but then switches out. If I clearly see someone going to make mincemeat out of him (Roserade for example), I send out Skarmory to scare it off/ deal with it. Maybe use rest instead of EQ (Hydreigon has it) and have him hold a lum berry for longer use?
Sometimes, when I am unsure on what Pokemon the opponent is leading with, I'll lead with Rotom, his high speed + volt switch allows me to place Tyranitar if I can, is that a decent move or should I try to limit it?
Defensive wall:
Skarmory, Impish Leftovers
Ability: sturdy
224 HP / 252 Def / 32 SpD
Great physical wall, Skarmory is my main reply to Gliscor. He walls him beautifully, and they are all over the place right now... Place spikes to add on to Tyranitar's SR, brave bird to deal some damage and not fall prey to taunt, roost to heal and whirlwind to throw an annoying/overpowered opponent out, and deal hazards damage in the same process.
All-Arounder:
Rotom wash, Modest @choice scarf
ability: levitation
100 EV HP ; 252 EV sp att ; 156 EV speed
I was wondering whether I should run scald instead of Hydro pump, as it is more accurate and might give the opponent a burn, so I can take away will-o-wisp and have a free slot with something else?
Offensive and Mega Evolution:
Scizor, Adamant @Scizorite
Ability: technician
248 EV HP ; 252 EV att ; 8 EV Speed
Mixed attacker:
Hydreigon, Mild, Expert Belt
Ability: Levitate
4 EV HP ; 252 EV SpA ; 252 EV Spe
Support:
Sylveon, Bold, Light clay
Ability: cute charm
252 HP; 252 Defense, 4 EV sp defense
Conclusion:
I think I have a pretty balanced team, but there are a couple of problems/ weaknesses. Ironically, each time I see Rotom-W in the other team I take a huge sigh. I have no grass move to take care of him with, and he is a relative pain to take down... Azumarill is also a pain to take care of...
I have no Ice moves either... Which is a pain a pain when dragons are concerned (Garchomp, Dragonite...) as well as gliscor, but I just don't know which move to trade for an ice move... Maybe take away will-o-wisp and hydro pump from Rotom, and add ice beam and scald?
Otherwise, my team has resistances for every type, and I think they have a pretty decent synergy, but I want advice from you guys! Any constructive criticism is welcome, so fire away!
